Rocket fuel? You are right about most people not knowing that. I even did not know that! I am going to modify the truck a little bit to make it look less like a millitary truck. I am going to try to do some work around the tank area to make it look more like the trucks in the pictures I have found. Should not be too hard just some need some styrene. And I already ordered the truck from the hobby store and paid for it so there is no backing out now. ;)

Does anyone know of any pictures of Eppley Airfield in Omaha Nebraska from around the time they opened? I am really curious to see what it looked like back then.
-
Thanks for that information. Would it be unusuall for a DC-3 that was built in 1941 to still be running in 1959? If so I need to change my logo a little.

Do hobby stores sell this kind of decal paper? I appreciate the website link but I really do not like buying things online. I am sorry.
-
Also where do they sell inkjet decal paper? Would the hobby store sell that? And what do I need to make them?

I decided to go with the Academy model and I have some custom decals made for it. Here is what I have. Sorry about the quality. The real decals look a whole lot better they just did not scan very well and the printer was low on ink. Here are the pictures I found that I based the decals off of. http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimntexas/14724417/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/jimntexas/101055300/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/donnacaughlin...pool-884200@N21 http://www.flickr.com/photos/libertyordeat...pool-884200@N21 http://www.flickr.com/photos/libertyordeat...pool-884200@N21 http://www.fli

Actually the print out was not jagged like the picture. When I uploaded the picture to photobucket it made the edges jagged. I will try to get a better picture.

Visio actually worked out pretty well for me. Here is what I ended up with. The reason that they are pink is because to get a picture like this I have to print them out then scan them and since I was running low on ink I put the printer on fast economical printing. They should be red like the ones I posted earlier.

I bought this model at the Airline History Museum in Kansas City and I decided to make it the same plane as the one they have on display there. Also since I have a piece of the actual plane I am going to integrate that into the display base. Here are some pictures of my progress so far. I am getting close to being done.

The logos are in gif format when I put them into visio and I am not sure how to get them into vector format if that is even possible. But I can crop the pictures to get the stuff I need and in visio images do not distort when I sale them up or down. They look as good as the origional just a different size.

Thank you! I downloaded the phillips 66 logo from the internet and the words Aviation fuel are just the font Arial Narrow that I made bold. I then scaled them down in Microsoft Visio and I think it turned out really well. I am kind of trying to replicate the decals on this truck which is pretty hard because the truck in the picture is really worn down and the logos and stuff like that are all faded really bad.
-
Ok I tried visio and I am really impressed with the results. I want to get your guys opinion on these decals that I made tonight for my airport fuel truck. They are not done yet but this is what I have right now. I still need the words Phillips 66. Let me know what you think.

Ok thanks! I just wanted to see if it would work or not. I am going to just leave the model as it is to be on the safe side. It still looks good with out the gloss coat so it is no big deal.

Does anyone have any pictures of what an old Phillips 66 aviation tanker looked like? What I am looking for is some pictures showing the decals on the truck its self. If anyone has any or knows where any are please let me know. Thanks! Scalebowler
