Flying (Dash 8 pilot), reading, woodworking. My daughter has many health issues, and so modelling is my chance to escape. To focus, even if for only 10 minutes in a fortnight, on nothing but painting an oxygen bottle the right shade, is bliss.
  1. Hi. Does anyone have an unused/unwanted Kh-59M/AS-18 'Kazoo' missilein their stash or kits? I understand one is included in the Trumpeter 1/48 Mig-23 kit, and the odd Su-25 kit. Thanks in advance. James.
  2. That's it. Thanks Mick. The first image I have seen of the probe's size in relation to the pitot tube. Brilliant.
  3. Thanks Calum. Already using that link as a reference.
  4. Cheers guys. At least you have set my mind at ease about bending the actuator back into place. Spellbinder, thank you for the info about the stiffener on the vertical stabiliser. I have only found one decent photo of the plate, and didn't know it was on the other one too. The plane I am modelling had two spike-type AoA probes, so I can stash the kit vane-type in the spares box. I know they will be easy to fabricate, but I can't find any photos on which to base the size of the probe. Thanks for your help.
  5. Hi all - I have been trawling this and other sites for a while now trying to find what I need, but to no avail, so here is my first post on ARC. I recently received my Hasegawa 1/48 F/A-18C kit, which I will be reworking as an RAAF F/A-18A. The only problem with the kit as it arrived was that the metal nose landing gear assembly has (what appears to be) the hydraulic actuator bent at an ungodly angle. I have to straighten it, but haven't had a metal part before so am cautious of damaging it further in the process. The bent part is the thinnest part of the piece. I was thinking of soaking it in
  6. Cheers all. Euge, I am just starting at scrathbuilding pieces, so if I have troubles I may call on you again for extra guidance. Paul, when you are in Brisbane, Australia next, it'll be my shout. I'll post in the Jet Forum, as you suggested, and the enjoyment I get lately from doing these kits isn't so much reaching the finishing line, but the time taken to reach it. Thanks MoFo, too.
