That is gorgeous...and I agree with everyone else, the display base is A+. Been really wanting to get to an XB-35 but the prices on the Italeri re-issues are rediculous...$70 for the Flying wings and the Valkyrie? Come on... However if you want one of these for the stash grab it this month, Squadron has me almost 50% off..just not the 35 tho

Spent the first couple minutes getting my stomach out of my throat. After that I was good, and to this day the sound of a radial makes me shiver...lol -

Not IN 1929 lol, It was 1993 and I was 7. But I still remember it well, $20 a head to take a trip from the Ankeny, IA airport, over the antique tractor show grounds, head over the mixmaster to downtown Des Moines and back, prolly 50 min in the air. Good deal, and lots of fun for a kid. -

Neat...I'll definatley be keeping an eye on your build as the Tri-motor was the first aircraft I ever took a ride in. Mike -
Just ended up with this kit as part of a pile I bought, its the 1/48th Monogram and I have no appeal to build it, I has been started, interior engines, nose/tail/body/wings painted white (Like a B-1A). Kit appears to be complete, but would need some work to tear the peices down and go at it again. I wasn't really wanting to sell it complete but I suppose I will for $10 or so plus shipping. Otherwise if some needs something out of it please let me know Mike

Lots of dryfitting today, got the main bar and x brace bent from .100 Evergreen rod for the scale NHRA 6 point cage. Body should be ready for paint by tomorrow night, once the roll cage is up to snuff and ready to drop in I'll start looking at getting the interior together...Hoping for progress pics by end week Mike -

 Good Gravy...I'd have to spend the whole year between now and a calender opening trying to decide a couple to do...lol
-
I know the calender is pretty full for the next year or so...but with the popularity of the DoTR, I think it would be intresting to have a What If German naval aviation GB...There we're several Luftwaffe aircraft that were is the process of navalizing, and it would give everyone a good chance to dig through the goodies bin and put some heavy landing gear, hooks and dream up your own camo for these planes. Build would also be open to the 1:720 Graf Zeppelin. I would be excited to build up a Fw190 with arrestor gear and a take on the angular Tirpitz/Bismark Camo scheme... Any thoughts?

Got to borrow a camera today that does a little better job, one more of the subframe... I didn't really like this first pic of the floorpan, flash caught WAY to much of the metallic, the rest look pretty good, after I finish the engine tonight I'll be detailing the belly... I've been studying several photos of 70 SS's and It appears some of them left the factory with the fuel tanks and straps painted...some not, I'll have to look into in deeper... -
Seems to me that almost NO B-29's other than Silverplate 509th aircraft came with the Curtiss Electric props...I guess when Tibbets went to hand select aircraft from the Omaha line he specified Curtiss propellers to reduce landing rollout...and supposedly he figured the cuffs would help engine cooling. I can't find many pics of Korean War era aircraft, but I would think that after the B-50s and KB-29s were introduced they would have started putting CE props on all 29 based aircraft?

Lemme go look, I just bought one of these and pulled the plastic but haven't popped the top yet...
