  1. Hello, I have the Hasegawa 1/72 F-104 Starfighters Inc. combo but I would rather build european (camo) F-104s. Would anyone have suitable decals? I had bought a Superscale German F-104s sheet but it is totally out of register, not a single decal is usable :( I can trade the very nice Cartograf sheet that comes with the Starfighters Inc. box or I also have Hornet and Tomcat decals (all in 1/72nd). Thanks, Arnaud
  2. Truly incredible work Mr Fassett, are you sure it's 1/72nd?? :o The lenses are outstanding, how did you do them? Arnaud
  3. Nice and sharp, this massive nose decal never ceases to impress me :) Arnaud
  4. Bump for a great dealer, buy with confidence guys! Sorry Brewer as I already have a dozen 1/72 F-14s in the stash SWMBO would be quite §$$% if I took this one off your hands :) Arnaud
  5. Thanks for the references Sebastijan! Ouch that's heavy Arnaud
  6. Amusingly enough I happened to do just that yesterday evening for similar purposes and unfortunately there is very little in the way of heavily loaded Super Hornets on Navy.mil :( Most of them carry at most two Sidewinders and two GBUs, most of the time a GBU-12 and a GBU-38.
  7. Thanks a ton for your offer George, unfortunately I quite specifically need GBU 38s as it is for a Tomcat last deployment build. Still looking for a couple of 1/72 GBU-38s, if anyone can help I'd be most grateful :) Thanks, Arnaud
  8. Beautiful work on a beautiful aircraft Gianni! Arnaud
  9. Great to trade with you too Gianni, simply fantastic to use each other's skills like this :) For info Gianni adapted and painted a beautiful deck crew for my Tomcat launch diorama project while I sent him a couple of F-14B/D exhaust pairs I had casted from what I did in the same project. Exactly the kind of stuff I love these forums for! Arnaud
  10. Excellent and original job on a rather tricky kit. How did you do the canopy frame? Bare metal foil? It looks fantastic. Arnaud
  11. Very good start, thanks for sharing! It's nice to see someone actually building it instead of the usual bashing without having seen the kit :) Arnaud
  12. Bad luck Duck, I hope you find a solution. Now on for the tail. The kit parts are pretty basic although there is not much to see anyway. I simply removed the excess material that closes the rear window (no idea why Trumpeter closed it), see below: left the original part right the other side with the window open I then added a bulkhead to hide the emptiness of the fuselage, now that the window in open it is visible :). In order to make it no too obvious I painted a transition from interior green to black with the airbrush: when the two halves are closed it is difficult to see that the bulkh
  13. Hello, Yes they are zip ties I got a while ago. The only particular thing about them is that they can be re-opened. There are aftermarket props for the Bear family. They look pretty good but I will not need them as I will do fake spinning blades with clear disks. Arnaud
  14. I tried the light dimmer trick a couple of months ago but the power was too low and the motor was not turning smoothly. I guess the motor Dremel use has a base speed too high: the torque is too low to overcome internal friction at low intensity :( However I've read that it worked for a few people other than those who replied here so maybe it's just me ;) Let us know how it goes, Arnaud
  15. What's a varigated camo? The reason for the splinter scheme was that it looks pretty :) I was actually thinking of adding dayglo stripes, similar to the NB-52A. Unfortunately I miss the skills to make a 3D representation of this on the computer, like the aircraft simulator guys often do. That would be awesome to get an idea of what it looks like before actually starting to spray because, as you said, it might look weird... Arnaud
  16. Here is the finished cockpit. The pilots are made from bits of Revell's RAF set for the legs and ESCI's NATO set for the upper bodies and heads. I know they are wrong but I've decided to give myself a chance to have a completed build rather than an exact one ;) Plus it's a what if so anything can happen! :) And the inner fuselage, with a few bits added to ease alignement as well as the curtains that hang behind the pilots seats And what remains to be seen once assembled, not much (and that's with flash...) :( The canopy windows are tiny so even less will be visible once closed. Well, I
  17. Thanks Jason. My wife said the same for the scheme so blue flanker it shall be! ;)
  18. Wow, can't believe I did not do anything in 2 months... This week end I had some time and made some progress on the cockpit. The kit stuff is extremely basic 9i.e. two seats and the instruments panel). I thus set to make it look a bit less empty: not much is visible once the canopy is in position but still engough to notice if you don't do anything... Most documentation came from Scalemodels.ru, a fantastic website with loads of russian Walkarounds. All white stuff is plasticard, the seats are slightly modified F-14A/B seats that will be sufficient for the purpose. The pilots seats as well a
  19. Thanks George! Let me know if you need anything though! Any special intests decal-wise? Arnaud
  20. Hello, I am looking for a couple of 1/72 GBU-38, like those provided in the Hasegawa set IX or the Skunkmodelworks NATO set. It is quite hard to get the set here in Austria and I actually only need two bombs. If you have some spares please PM me! I can trade or buy and in any case would of course pay for shipping (to Austria, France or the UK ;)). Cheers, Arnaud
  21. A quick search on navy.mil returned this picture, which looks like a -2000 to me ;) Please post pictures of your progress! Arnaud
  22. Assuming you want to paint it in a single colour (white for ex.) I would simply go to the nearest DIY store and buy a can of spray paint. Spray it lightly with very thin coats and Bob's your uncle! Good luck, Arnaud
