  1. I agree, why not have it on a better date to get more people to watch. Hockey will never compete with Football in the US. There are many venues here in Canada that could host this event. The first "Heritage Classic" was held in Edmonton with huge crowds of fans. Vancouver, Calgary Winnipeg, Montreal, and Toronto all have venues that would be suitable for the Winter Classic. As Bigasshamm points out above, the NHL is trying to grow in the US so it makes more sense to host it there. I'd love to see them host it in Florida
  2. Sorry to drag the Neo topic up again but I wonder if there is an update on this AB. I saw one at my LHS last weekend and was impressed by it's look. Big question, does it spray as well as it looks? Rob
  3. Those are some great photos. Thanks for sharing the links. Rob
  4. No reason to wait until a new year to make changes in my life. I am looking forward to the next year with improved health. The past 6 months have been rough with my health. All the best to everyone here on ARC and may 2012 be blessed with many hours of building time. Rob
  5. That would be insane if it was 1/24. I would suggest building a 1/24 scale hanger in the back yard.
  6. I love the idea of doing a OOB on some of these old kits. I just picked up a Monogram Kingfisher today and have been considering doing the same. I started with all the usual surfing for aftermarket parts to fix it up. But now, I am not so sure. Rob
  7. So that's a wrap. The Harvard is done, complete, fini! Onto the next project. I need to decal my Mustang for the Mustang GB. Thanks for looking. Rob
  8. Now, there is something I should have thought about 15 Years ago! A limit on the number of kits I have. hmmm... maybe it isn't to late to impose a limit of 1000?
  9. I would be down for this one. I have a few on the bench I could finish up.
  10. Thanks very much for sharing your experience. I am amazed at the aircraft parts they have collected. Rob
  11. I got some dough to spend at the hobby shop.
  12. He hasn't stopped talking all day about his time in Gimli flying. He has given me his Pilot Log, I can send more of it to you if it of interest. Maybe some of the aircraft you have he has flown. I guess I'll have to find another kit and start building 2785. As he recalls, he thinks it had the same control stick in both the front and rear. Building this bird was a lot of fun, with the exception of masking the canopy. Here is the photo of 2785 after his first solo flight. He was saying this kind of thing happened every a couple of days around Gimli. Notice the prop bent backwards. He said
  13. I am soooo jealous!!! I think I may use the money I got for Christams to get one of these.
  14. So more and more of the story have come out now. Hidden away in his secret hiding place was his pilots log book. We looked for that before I started this project with no luck. He gets up and comes back with it in less than a minute. Looking at the log book it was on May 28, 1951 he took his first solo flight in Harvard 2785. During the landing the landing gear gave out and the plane spun around going down the runway backwards. This bent the prop forward which can in a photo he has. I don't have a scanner now so I can't show it here but will later on. This is a photo of the log book entry
  15. Well I finally finished the Harvard. Man, this is the first build I have finished this year! I was under a lot of pressure to get this done for Christmas. If it wasn't for the deadline I may haven't of finished. Again I would like to thank everyone who gave me so much great informtion for this build. There was some confusion on the actual dates in which my FIL flew the Harvard in Gimli but we now have that straight. It was in the spring of 1951 he was in training. I decided to use the marking that came with the Occidental kit which would represent after WW2. I'll take a couple of shots lat
  16. Thanks guys, I managed to fix it with a small reinforing pin in it. Thanks for the good advice. I think next time I'll just go with metal replacements. Rob
  17. Where it has broke is in an odd spot. I am just finishing up this build for a gift and of course this happens. I was just looking to see if someone had a quick cheat repair. Rob
  18. It is broke in half. The weight of the model is to much for it with glue. Maybe I'll drill a small hole and insert a small pin to reinforce it.
  19. I have a broken landing gear that will not hold up with glue. Any suggestions? Rob
  20. Your video is great. You have inspired me to build an airliner now. Rob
  21. I haven't been to Wings before so I guess I won't miss it. I am saddened to see the shop close it's doors as we have lst several in the GVA already. It would appear that it isn't easy to make it in the hobby business anymore. The best place to go for second hand/consignment kits is Cameo hobbies in Maple Ridge. I was in there yesterday and they have a ton of second hand kits in stock. Rob
  22. If I understand this correctly this would include Tiger Meet schemes?
