    F-16 Kits

The F-16 is my favorite as well. My question is on the F-16E and F-16F. How do these differ from the F-16C and F-16D? How is Kinetics E and F's? I believe Hasegawa makes one or the other as well. Dan
  2. What makes them a difficult build? Is it tiny parts, difficult to understand instructions, fit issues, etc? Thanks, Dan
  3. Thanks for all the responses as they are helping me a lot. I am not a stickler for accuracy. I am looking for models that are easy builds OOB. I want them to look good. I have the Tamiya 1/48s. I also have several Revells and an Academy. I am working on a Revell F-15E. It looks pretty good. My biggest problems are the cockpit (its hard to paint something so small), paint and decals. I have not started the main paint job but some small parts did not hold the paint well. So basically I am looking for for models that look pretty much like the real thing that I can build out of box. One
  4. So other than the F-15 which I would get from Revell, the other Hasegawas are very good and I should do well buying any of them. Is this an accurate statement? Are the fits pretty good? I am a new modeller looking for good quality models that are relatively easy to build. I have all the Tamiya 1/48 F-16s and so I am looking for the E and F as well as a 2 seat D. I am also looking for good F-14, F/A 18 and F-22. I have the Academy F-22 as well. Thanks, Dan
  5. Wow that is some list. I will need to analyze it closely. But yes I am only looking for 1/48 scale models and I am looking for the following planes: F-14 preferably a D but will consider others. F-15 preferably an E F-16 I am looking for a D and an E ( and an F if they have it) F/A 18 preferably a E or F F-22 I think they only make the one. Dan
  6. When buying a Hasegawa model, how can you tell if it is a new model or a reboxing of an older one? Thanks, Dan
  7. Thanks everyone for responding. Fighting falcons are rapidly becoming my favorite fighter jets. How are the kinetic models? They look very nice. Do they have any issues? Also are the F-16 E and F's better than the F-16 C and D's? Thanks, Dan
  8. How do Kinetic models match up with other manufacturers? Do they make anything besides E2C's and F-16's? What are the F-16 E and F-16 F? Does the US military use F-16E and F-16Fs? How do they differ from F-16C's? Thanks, Dan Wilson

    Revell F-14s

Ooops. Yeah these are Tomcats. So I have the F-14A and F-14D from 2005. Since they are the same kit I don't think I need the 2009 models although it is tempting because they are relatively cheap and I like F-14s. Are the Revell F-14's pretty easy to build? Another thing I noticed was that on the box the 2005 models were given a difficulty level of 2 or moderate. The 2009 models were given a 3 for advanced. Thanks, Dan
  11. I bought a Revell F-14A and an Revell F-14D super Hornet. Apparently if I am reading the box correctly these were released in 2005. Today at the hobby store I seen a Revell F-14B and a Revell F-14D that were released in 2009. They are in bigger boxes and come with pilot figures. Are they later models better quality or are they reboxed or something else? Thanks, Dan

    F/A 18C

I am looking at buying a 1/32 scale F/A 18. I see that Academy has two F/A 18C's. One is a F/A 18C and one is the limited edition Chippy Ho. They also have a F/A 18D Night Attack. What is the difference in these and which should I buy? Thanks, Dan

    Painting

I am a new modeler and I am building the 1/48 scale F-15E from Revell. Very nice. Anyway my question is about painting. For modern jet fighters should I use acrylics or enamels? Also would hand brushing look nice or should I consider a paint sprayer? Does the model canned spray paint do as well as a paint sprayer? Thanks, Dan

    F-16 dilemma

Ooops. Yes I mean the F-14. I see that Tamiya has a 1/32 F-14 and was wondering about it. I was thinking about getting the 1/48 Bombcat from Academy but I am concerned about fit problems. I am a new modeler and being able to put something together OOB goes a long way with me. Also I hear a lot about Hasegawa being the most accurate and the best in some areas. But I also hear that they are a challenging build. What makes Hasegawa models so difficult? Can someone with a little experience put it together? Thanks, Dan
  15. Hello again. I am looking for excellent tomcats. I have two from Revell but have not put them together yet. What does everyone think about Tamiyas 1/32 scale F-16? Is it nice? How about Hasegawa F-16's? I read that early ones had a fit problem. Is that still the case? Also how about Academys 1/48 F-16 bombcat? I love F-16s but its tough to find some of them especially the F-16D. Thanks, Dan
