  1. The UK F-4's had a more rear cg than the US Phantoms at take off weights - it was close to unstable. So it pitched-up into a high angle of attack on take off when the outer wings folded. A carrier launched F-4J remained flyable and was successfully recovered.
  2. Indeed they do. I paper model a bit and when you put these sorts of texture out on photo quality paper they look amazing. You can do some extra artifacts such as placards, warning signs etc the same way. The medium is well suitied to making buildings and the more angular superstructure of modern warships. There are some WWII carrier decks - US/Japanese in the downloads section of the zealot.com card forum. Registration is free.
  3. Thanks for the information - that cutaway list is very useful though I don't have that particular mag. I might try asking Pilatus directly - I know some of the guys there but I owe them a model first!
  4. It helps a little. Another modeller is after more internal details. If you look at this page you'll see what he's after.http://www.geocities.com/chajalmexico/Modelismo.htm. Yes it's paper 1/72...I'm hoping for a full page Flighr Magazine or Air International cutaway
  5. Hi, Does anyone have a cutaway of the Pilatus PC7 showung structure, tank positions etc that they coudl send me? Thanks
  6. The sun is in short supply at the moment and the brightest light I have doesn't show through. I've had an offer of a scan/photo so I'm hoping it will work OK.
  7. ... I thought I would build it clean. After finishing the airframe I decided it could really do with some stores but I hadn't opened up the holes in the wings for the pylon attachment points - Doh! I tried a really strong light but I couldn't get the holes to show up. Please could someone scan one of the wing halves of the kit or supply a plan view photograph of it so I can hopefully get the holes in the right place? It's a very nice kit but I had a bit of a tight fit with the ejection seat in the cockpit bath and found I couldn't attatch the main instrument panel after putting the fuselage
  8. There was an article in aircraft monthly some years back that I still have. It has the history and some good photos, can scan or lend. It might be included in Barry Hygate's book on post-war eperimental aircraft though it might not be the right catagory. Alpha Sim did a Microsoft Flight sim model which you could use as a reference.
  9. I think the TMk 1 wings can take the outboard pylons - RAF just never ordered any. The stations probably are not plumbed/wired either. A few are wired to take Sidewinders - noteably the Red Arrows Hawks in a secondary defence role. They said they would have painted over the scheme but I always thought naaah! Just imagine some pilot getting excited spotting and then trying to nail a Red Arrow and not seeing the two camoflaged Hawks sneaking into his six. In a rare recognition that they are not the only customer in the world the UK MoD allowed Hawker Siddley at Kingston to add extra structure
  10. It could be the conformal fuel tank they developed several years ago. The 100 Series Hawks are heavier that the T Mk 1 so they probably won't have quite the same endurance. It was said the Mk 1 could fly 2 training sorties back to back at RAF Valley and divert to Venice at the end of the second sortie. The centreline station is of limited use (not a lot of room between the inner u/c doors so the conformal tank with it's lower attendant drag could effectively free up the inner stations for other stores. It also gives a useful extra side area for knife edge flying for airshows.
  11. SAMI August 1997 has interiors, plans and profiles. Can lend if you wish.
  12. The RAF has selected practically every feature that the avionics suite on the aircraft is capable of. That being said a lot of the equipment is re-used from other variants. I believe BAESYSTEMS are just waiting for the production order. The airframe is off the shelf - it has had little change since the original 100 Series development in the early 1990s.
  13. I have a scan somewhere. E-mail me if you wish.
