  1. And while we're on the topic, where's the collective located? And spejic might be right about the seats, depending on which version. This is from Yellow 063, supposedly the final version: Edited to include picture.
  2. I can't find any pictures of the bulkhead directly behind the pilots. Does anyone have a reference that covers this area? Is it just a wider version of what's behind the seat in a Ka-50?
  3. You mean the clear lens? I'm not the most experienced at this, but here's what I would try: 1. Cut/file the nose down and paint the end silver. Then you might be able to dab a bit of clear-drying glue (like Testors Clear Parts Cement/Window Glue) into the hemispherical shape of the lens. 2. Or try to get some clear sprue into that shape. This can be difficult in 1/72. Apologies if this isn't what you're talking about.
  4. An interesting question. I've always used water at room temperature and it works just fine. I'm curious to read what others use. I know some people say that distilled water works best but I use tap or filtered water (from a Brita pitcher) and haven't had any issues.
  5. 1/48 ESCI A-10 (it was a gift). Warped parts, no detail, more flash than parts, completely inaccurate shape, nothing fit properly, ad infinitum. I didn't even bother finishing it. Slapped on the wings and engines . . . And it's now used by my four-year-old to practice brush painting.
  6. What Llarry said. I use a variety of glues for a variety of reasons. Don't let someone make you feel bad just because he thinks liquid glue works for every situation.
  7. Congratulations! Sounds like you're a jet guy, but maybe, just maybe, you'll develop an appreciation for the Mi-24 Hind as well. Take it a step further and try Zvezda kits (from Russia, of course) - some of them are the most accurate molds for the subject. Have fun with your expanded horizon!
  8. Short answer: Yes. But they're out of stock already. And at $70 for 1/72 resin, no thanks, I'll wait for plastic. EDIT: They're back in stock and shipping now.
  9. Not counting aftermarket, how many kits do you usually buy (or use, if you have spares) to finish one model?
  10. Back in 1959 a RAF pilot buzzed through the Grand Canyon and the rear-seater got some video. Pretty awesome!
  11. Photobucket for models (easy to grab those IMG links!) and Flickr for family.
  12. I've pretty much accepted the fact that I'll never build a contest-worthy model. Some people have the gift, others don't. I still enjoy looking at the accomplishments of others and try to learn new techniques whenever I can.
  13. Has this been verified yet? I think you're right about the typo. My guess is also 114 parts.
  14. I don't know if you've seen KitBase. It's nice, but I'd rather not pay for additional functionality like printing. A free one would be awesome!
  15. I'm definitely not a hoarder, I can't afford it! I'm technically not a collector because the models in my stash aren't worth anything. But calling myself a builder when I haven't finished anything in a long, long time doesn't seem right either . . . So I'll stick with "living vicariously through ARC."
  16. The other day I went to Jo-Ann Fabric to look for something I could use for 1/72 mesh or grills. The ribbon lace and pack of sewing needles (for scribing) got me a raised eyebrow from the store clerk. What have you bought (for modeling only, please, I don't care about your other fetishes B) ) that's gotten strange or curious looks?
  17. That's really strange. I'm running the same Win 7 + Firefox configuration but I have custom settings. There are times when I get logged out, but it's usually weeks (or any time I browse in Private mode). Do both computers have the exact same settings for cookies and history?
  18. Sorry, what I meant was: Tools -> Options -> Privacy -> Settings (button) The Settings button should be directly underneath the Show Cookies button and it holds settings for "Clear history when Firefox closes." It could be Firefox is clearing your cookies when you close it. What version of Firefox are you using?
  19. What do you have as your "Keep until"? Also, what's under "Settings," under the "Show Cookies" button?
  20. Are you blocking cookies in your browser?
  21. In this particular case his vehicle is so large I doubt it would fit in any standard garage. We Americans also tend to use garages for storage or as a workshop. I only have enough room in my two-car garage for one car (my wife's, of course). The other half is filled with bicycles, lawn equipment, recycling bins, tool cabinets, etc.
  22. The picture from flanker shows you're correct - it's sitting too high. I'll go with the Zvezda kit. I'm not a rivet counter anyway, I just want a decent looking bird. Thanks for all the input!
  23. Thanks for the quick response, Flankerman! I had seen another thread where someone had to chop the Zvezda in half to lengthen it and I didn't want to have to do that to get a reasonably accurate build. Do you know if any aftermarket parts fit the Hobbyboss kit?
  24. A quick question. Which is better?
