  1. Gotta love a Terminator reference!
  2. This might just be my poor memory, but recently I remember reading that so far the Air Force is not in this game, but there have been discussions about getting 'joint' with it.
  3. Coming along nicely. Looks like some of that fit was pretty challenging. Will keep watching!
  4. Have finally gotten a little more done. Finished the PE on the Elevator (and it was really challenging for me!) and then painted it and the flight deck with a tan color, before I do the tie down strips and deck color. So here are a couple update photos.
  5. Another one a bit further out is is Dean's Hobby Stop in Owosso, MI. Out in the country in a small town, he is all old kits. He buys collections and you never, ever know what you will find. Generally the prices are really good and sometimes can find collector kits too. I always have fun there. Has a lot of planes, decent amount of armor and some ships and cars. Not too much in the paints area. Of the ones listed The Model Cave and Great Lakes have the best supplies/paints selections. BTW, the Cave gets most of my LHS dollars monthly.
  6. I like the look of the fuselage parts so far. Good luck Kinetic
  7. Of course, I am sure that PETA would be willing to 'manage' those monkeys finances after winning this case.
  8. Don, Looking good. Quick question though, do you know what those 'catapult' looking things are on the flight deck? They look large, or is it just the photos that make it look like it is standing so proud? John
  9. A 'small' update. Working on the deck edge elevator. 1 piece of plastic, about 11-12 PE... It is not done yet, had to take a break.
  10. Masked the canopies with Liquid Frisket. So should be able to just pull it off. Used a toothpick tip to apply. Hopefully it works. After that dries (enamels), I am going to do the under white color (for the airwing flashes). Also for the white bottoms.
  11. Have not gotten that much done on the ship itself, a little more of the hangar lighting setup and some AA guns. But I did get the initial coat on the airwing: I am using a mix of the Dragon planes and some Trumpeter ones (they were all clear, hence the green). She will be carrying F6Fs, Helldivers and Avengers.
  12. Winger, You are not kidding... Lots of tiny pieces anyways in this whole kit. Over 700 parts! Plus will be adding extra planes too. I think each plane has 5 pieces, and they are clear.
  13. I did just see a funny (I thought) item on my Bleacher Report stream. Some Dunkin Donuts owner in New England put this message on his sign outside the store "Judge Richard Berman gets free coffee for life". Fans will be fans.
  14. Don, in looking at a few of the ship sites lately, it seems very common those guys do paint the bottom first, although often mount the screws, etc later to prevent breakage there.
  15. Thanks. Always nice to have a driving force behind the build!
  16. 48 is way to early to go. Makes you appreciate all your time here. I just finished reading the posts on BM, very touching and heartfelt. I only knew him from his posts, but he seemed like a great guy and someone who knew there stuff really well. Sad... :(/> RIP
  17. Okay, I am late too. Been working on it for a couple weeks, but figured I would ask. I have got the hull together and actually trying to run some fiber optics to 'light' the hanger. If okay would love to join. Will post a couple pics later.
  18. Don, Nice job so far. Always loved the look of the early Tico's with the twin armed launchers. I know they are not as good as the VLS, but they look better to me!
  19. That's quite a 'nest' you are building! Great jobs.
  20. Hi all, Just read this story and thought some of your other history buffs might find it interesting. HMS Hood story
  21. Darren, If we are shooting for the moon, then yes. Updated fairings would be good. But for me, #1 is the panel lines. Thanks.
  22. Nice pics. I also noted the Lex or Sara in the background of pic 3. Cool.
  23. I got this text from another site, not sure of rules for linking to them though: So attributed to information from a post by Tracy White on FSM: "By 1941 the Navy was experimenting with blue deck stain for camouflage; by the time the US was attacked at Pearl *ALL* carriers had their decks in some shade of blue deck stain. While there was some variation due to experiments, the standard "Norfolk No. 250N Blue Flight Deck Stain" was rapidly adopted. This stain was very close to the 20-B "Deck Blue" *paint* used on metal decks and wood decks of other ships (battleships, cruisers, etc.) However,
  24. Gotta agree! That PE looks great. I always struggle with it too.
