  1. After a few emails to Dave Winter at Canuck, I figured out that I was correct in thinking the front gear door not wide enough. He sized the numbers according to the specs and not the kit, so... I found some smaller ones, not to spec, but they fit the kit... I managed to highlight the panel lines with Testors gloss black thinned in Testors thinner, worked great. I found that removal of the wash with a T shirt dulled the Tamiya glos just enough to leave the sheen I was looking for... So I left it like that. I did spray some Flat clear (Vallejo Air) over the de-icer boot and front anti-glare pan
  2. Nice project, I will be looking closely. Good start so far.
  3. Got most of the Canuck decals on the ... Canuck. They went on fine but are very thin and need to be moved around on a bed of water or they will tear... Only one remaining, the numbers on the fron gear are too wide, even with my wider scratch gear door... will look for some smaller numbers... there are also 3 or 4 stencils which do not have any call outs on the instructions.
  4. You may be interested in seeing my friend Jean-Marc Perreault's Avro projects: http://pages.videotron.com/jmarcpe/AVRO%20PROJECT.htm Marc-Andre Valiquette, Avro Arrow author and historian, has been helping him quite a bit with references... https://www.facebook.com/marcandre.valiquette?ref=ts&fref=ts YF
  5. Ready for gloss coat... I am really happy with the demarcation line between the top colors, I rolled up the blue tac into smaller strips than I usually do for 1-48th, and it came out very tight... only two touch-ups were required... The Canuck model decals camo pattern did not include the wing tanks, which granted, were rarely seen on European Clunks, still, there was a good photo in Milberry's book which showed the inner quarter of the tanks in flat black...
  6. Got some work done during the World Juniors hockey game... masked-up the top side and painted the dark green, with some light shading... got a few corrections to make tomorrow along with the black de-cing boots and anti-glare panel... Used the usual blue tack and tamiya tape. Very satisfied with the Gunze paint colors.
  7. Dark sea gray is on, was given the usual treatment of lighter shades inside the panels and overspray of base color very diluted...will wait 24 hours before masking for the dark green... will also need some work on the front windscreen fairing in with the fuselage...
  8. Well, I thunk it and I said it, I looked at my Belcher sheet again, and there are nothing that I would call stencils on it... I do not know what happened with LE, but Canuck will eat his shorts if he does not sort things out !!
  9. Here is the brass and aluminum tubing for the exhaust, I cut it using my small copper plumbing cutter from a hardware store. I practiced on a spare kit, cutting the plastic with my saw. The lenght is approximate but it is intentionally a bit longer than the kit, a shorter length of the aluminum tube will go inside the brass one... was easier than I thought...
  10. The kit seats are passable, but you can buy some great aftermarket from Wolfpack, with Lucky Models free shipping they are worth every penny. as for the stencils, there are some in the kit decals, which are also pretty nice, but there aren't enough for me...
  11. The camo is definitely soft, but translates into a very small transition in 1-48th, I used paper masks about 2mm off of the plastic and got great results... The slime lights were pretty much always there for the symmetrical era camos... The sheet from Belcher has no stencils to speak of, you should go with Leading Edge, definitely better... What do you mean by "sea" ?? You can check out the results here: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=269811&st=0&p=2555986&hl=cf-5a&fromsearch=1entry2555986
  12. Completed the scratch main gear doors, you can compare with the kit parts in the picture... I made both gear doors a bit wider... went out to Udisco this PM (Montreal LHS) and got me some brass and aluminum tubing for the exhausts... now doing the underside masking... I hate masking... back to the Canadiens game then... :woot.gif:/>/>
  13. Took a long time to restore panel lines, remove seams, but I finally managed to lay down the first coat on the underside, took out my old Gunze paints for this one, god I miss those, beautiful semi-gloss finish, very fine pigments, lays down beautifully and no clogging of the airbrush... Used RLM76 as the lighest shade with highlights from two other shades. While this is drying, I am working on front and main gear door replacements... I would really like to replace the exhaust stub (which is about 4 scale inches thick right now ...) with a piece of tubing of somekind but cannot figure out whe
  14. Seats are done, these are small, they are sitting on a popsicle stick !! Sanding and filling done on fuselage, basicallly ready for paint.
  15. Too big for me, at some point, when they start to be the size of RC kits, they loose their appeal for me...
  16. Well, lots of sanding and puttying on this one... seriously thinking of removing all panel lines for my next all metal CF-100 Mk5... The inlets fit nicely... The wings are challenging to put on, once you manage to straighten them in a bucket of hot water... my first try was not very succesfull... I also installed the resin cockpît sills at the rear of the pilot seat...
  17. I love it !, just the right amount of sheen on the paint. How did you achieve that ?
  18. Here are some photos of my friend Richard's Northstar Cockpit, his Arrow is going to be awesome... Note that a lot of details were added...
  19. Cannot do much about the tires, I think the front ones are even worst. I managed to finish cutting up the flap, I filled the inside with Epoxy putty to make it flat and filled in the fuselage hole with Plasticard. Will start working on the gear doors now, replacing them with Plasticard also... I also cut up the windscreen, and remove some plastic at the back of the cockpit sill to allow it to slide open... I am also trying to figure out how to replace the engine exhaust duct with somekind of tubing, any ideas guys ?? I cut the flap from my canibalized Mk4 kit, the metal rods you see sticking
  20. Yeessssss ! Good show Dave, you got a winner there !
  21. Dave, Your products are great, and you listen to your customers, well worth the money. I have sent you an email concerning a potential issue with HST & GST for Quebec orders...
  22. I also found a good pic, showing basically all moving surfaces... moved ! Below you will find pics where I have outlined what I believe to be the flap outline. Can you confirm I got it right ?
  23. Bruce, Would you have a picture that shows it dropped....
  24. After a coat of Future, I applied the Mike Grant instrument decals to the front panel, the smallest dials did not get any as there were none that small. Positioning of the resin cockpit is ver much hit and miss, I glued one side wall to the inside fuselage and the other to the cockpit tub. The front IP was glued to the inside of the kit front panel. Careful trimming and cutting is required. Now working on the seats and stick. Should start closing her uo soon.
