Just curious where those that use the Tamiya Acrylics purchase them. My usual vendor is out of the colors I need, and they don't seem to be restocking them (Sprue Brothers). Just looking for some 23ml bottles of flat white, neutral gray, and some XF-81. I wonder why they're so difficult to find here in the states, in stock, at least. Thanks for the pointer in the right direction. Even Google isn't yielding what I'm looking for : (
It's not that Sprue Bros is choosing not to re-stock. Tamiya is just not available right now due to a labeling issue. Shouldn't be too much longer, but those of us that have any Tamiya paint are just selling from stock we all had before this issue came up.
In the meantime, the suggestion about Smyrna Hobby was a good one. They're good people and, who knows.. maybe they have what you want.

Sadly, EZ Masks is no more. I used to get masks from them thrue another ARC member as they had better fitting masks and a larger selection. Gonna suck with them around now.
Someone gave you bad info. E-Z Masks is alive and well and doing business!
The website is down because they are making some changes that have taken much longer than expected. As usual with some projects, what was supposed to take 24-48 hours is now into the second week.
I talked to Chris at E-Z by phone today about an order, and the only thing he's concerned with is getting the website done and back online. Business is great and orders are being accepted.

A link at the old Harold's own web site to the current web site will be very helpful.
Obviously, you cannot expect to see anouncement of moving to Sprue Brothers at the MidTenn site. Did anyone post about the move here at ARC?
I'm not sure why you say "Obviously, you cannot expect... at the MidTenn site.", but that's exactly what I did! I put the announcement on my website, right at the top of the AMS category, and left it there for 60-90 days, until I got assurances from Harold and from Gordon that I had left it there long enough for AMS and Sprue to promote or advertise the change. At the time, it was my decision to let Harold discuss the move, which he announced in several forums.
HERE is the announcemet that was on my website. It even contained a LINK to the AMS category at Sprue Bros. Gordon and I are friends, Harold and I are friends, and it seemed proper for me to make it easy to find AMS' new abode!
This was last September/October. I'll leave it active AGAIN for a few days to allow anyone interested to see it.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask!

Is the "new" Renegade Krome available anywhere? A few suppliers list it, but show zero stock. It does not show up at most Badger dealers' site.
Until the first week of November, the new Krome is available exclusively through MidTenn!

In stock! Have a look!

I've been very happy with both Olfa and Alvin.

You'll find that most Carb Cleaners are too much for the seals inside the airbrush to handle. They do a wonderful job at removing just about everything quickly, but prolonged use will lead to decay of the seals.
On the other hand, he might get much improved idling and cold weather starts.
Just a thought.

Did I see a secret surveillance team keeping an eye on Don for most of the day?

Let's see here... DECALS ONLY or RESIN/KITS & DECALS. Yeah, I can see how there would be confusion. B)
I guess I expect too much.
Now THAT'S funny! Good one!
Seriously, there are valid points by everyone. I looked at the checkout process and can see that someone who was in a hurry or had been sipping too much coffee might not notice all the choices in the pull-down menu for shipping. With 'decals only' being at the top, first choice, I can see it happening. But it doesn't look like something someone would do intentionally.

As I had explained to Gordon on several occasions, in 2007, the U.S. Supreme Court in the case of Katy's Kloset vs. Brighton, ruled that the 1911 "Price Fixing" laws were now overturned and that the manufacturers have the right to set the retail prices of their products. In October of 2010, in another case, the Court ruled 4-4 in Costco vs. Swatch (Omega), that Swatch had the right to set the retail prices of their products. As the decision was divided, the ruling of the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals was upheld. So as the law stands now, there is no such thing as "price fixing".
Ken
PCM, Inc.
Ken, don't get too carried away with this position of yours that there is no such thing as "price fixing". According to DOJ, price fixing is still very much a part of the American Anti-Trust laws.
The two cases that you're so fond of quoting are not represented correctly, or in full, by your broad brush. The Brighton case is being appealed, the appeal holding that "lower courts have gone too far in applying the 2007 decision, reading it as giving manufacturers carte blanche to fix prices rather than analyzing each pricing agreement for its anticompetitive impact." Even if that were not the case, it was a 5-4 split among liberal/conservative Justices. What difference does that make? It means there are many people on both sides of the issue.
The other case you use for this discussion, Costco v Swatch, was not really about the price, but the fact that Costco had, in their opinion, acquired the inventory through channels that were not authorized by the Swatch/Omega dealer policies. As the journal articles stated concerning the finding, "the Court's action was not a ruling on the merits of the case.." and that the actual decision was regarding copyright infringement. The Court was split 4-4, close once more, along the same lines as the other case, which re-affirmed the lower court. Again, many people on both sides of the issue.
It's an easy argument that maybe sometimes what is legal, or possibly in these cases, seemingly or ARGUABLY legal, still may not be simply 'right'.
It's my fault that I didn't understand that I couldn't take pricing action on inventory from you after seeing that it failed to move at all after a more than generous inventory cycle, but once that was clear, from our face-to-face discussion in Phoenix, and subsequent emails, I had no reluctance disposing of the line.
I agree with Gordon. Forget the issue of whether it's legal. It's just not right.

While I may not disagree in principle, there's nobody on the planet who "needs" plastic model kits. You don't fuel your car with them, and ambulances don't need them to get you to the hospital when you have an MI. BIG difference there.
J
Maybe I just don't spot it, but I don't think Big Texan was suggesting anyone "needs" plastic models. I think he was just mentioning an unrelated area in which price fixing has been very detrimental.
On the other hand, I DO 'need' plastic models.

Mid Tenn is no longer carrying the Paragon line.
MidTenn STILL CARRIES Paragon!!
From a post I made earlier in response to this same statement:
When the announcement was made that Paragon was closing, we were immediately contacted by collectors in order to purchase most or all of remaining stock. I decided that I'd rather take it offline for a brief time to wait for remaining stock to arrive and to let the dust settle a bit. I'd much rather see it go to individual modelers than to speculators and end up seeing it on ebay at higher prices.
My prices will remain the same as before the announcement was made.
If anyone has any questions about anything I handle, it would be great to ask me in order to get an accurate answer.
Thanks!

MidTennHobbies does not carry Paragon.
Mike
Not true! MidTenn absolutely does carry Paragon. And we also have more inventory on the way.

I'm still waiting for my production sample to arrive. It should be here in soon. The one you see pictured is a pre-production sample. As far as I know, the new handle is what's slowing things down which are currently at the platers awaiting a chrome finish. It's a cut away type with a micrometer sleeve at the preset screw. The guns themselves have been tested and ready to ship so my best "guestimate" would be January and to my knowledge, MiddTenn Hobbies will be the first to carry them.
With all Cyrus' help and input, the Renegade Krome (RK-1) has been tested, approved and is now in production! You can see it on the MidTenn website, along with several pictures, and we're taking Pre-orders for it now! We expect to begin filling orders BEFORE mid-February!

As far as I know, the Patriot comes standard with a fine nozzle. Mine did. I think it's a great general purpose airbrush. You can see details and a sample of its output in my review here.
Don
Don is, as usual, exactly right! ALL Patriots come standard with the FINE needle/nozzle. And also with very solid customer support.
Regarding the comment above about the Iwata Revolution BR being 'superior' and costing less.. superior is a tough term to chase around. What one person decides is better or superior has more to do with that person's experience, and is not neccessarily true for many other people. Cost is a moving target also. In the link above, the Revolution BR is, I think, $72.95 plus shipping. They offer free shipping for orders over $90. Our Badger Patriot is on sale right now for $64, or $71 if you want a hose shipped with it.. sent directly from Badger. Both prices include shipping.
When it's not on sale, our regular price for the Patriot is $71 and domestic shipping is always free for any Badger airbrush. I'm sure if you shop around you'll find many other prices.

Do they sell the boxes seperately? I bought three brushes from the 'garage sale' last year and they just came all in one box in bubble wrap. I think I need a better way to store them and the boxes would be great.

Max..
Shoot me a PM and I might be able to help.

Just reading about airbrush pressures and noted Cyrus' response regarding the use of a MAC Valve here: AB Pressure Thread . Never heard of this before, and a search produced info that still made little sense to me. Can anyone (Help, Cyrus?) explain a bit more what this valve is, how it operates, and what the application is for an airbrush set-up? Thanks in advance,
Diffrent aibrush companies have different names for that valve.. Badger's is PAC, some use MAC.. but it's a connection or fitting under the airbrush with a small wheel or dial to allow adjustment of airflow without having to turn away from your work in order to make an adjustment at the compressor. It's also more precise in that you can see the effect as you turn the dial if you want to.

I haven't built it.. just inspected the Lone Star parts when I got them, but my 'guess' would be probably a little bit of both, as with most resin.

The information I have so far is to expect a fair amount of time between the current release and the next version.. like "late Fall or possibly Winter".
As with the B-25J, we'll begin Pre-orders for the next kit when it's in boxes and shipping information has been sent.
