I want to build some 1/72 Tomcats for a change, and I've got some rookie questions about these Hasegawa kits: #533 F-14A Hi-Viz #544 F-14A Atlantic Fleet #382 F-14B Jolly Rogers Last Flight I read somewhere that #533 Hi-Viz is an older tool kit, and that the other two are newer tool. Anybody know if that's correct? Thanks! Jack

Since Sprue Bros. announced stocking CMR during the Nats, I'm guessing that may be the big order mentioned here. Here's what's left at Sprue Bros. and there's probably additional stuff to be added. Just a guess. I bought a few things after the Nats and asked about something else and Gordon said it was due in the next shipment. Jack

Just concluded a styrene swap with Willam G (alias William G) and it was speedy and as-advertised! He's a definite Good Trader! Jack

Ditto everything that Bob said. Try taking it apart, including the air valve assembly, and then soak the body, spray regulator, the head and the tip in lacquer thinner for a few hours. Maybe even overnight. The first time I did that I was amazed at the junk that came out. Now I do it every few sessions.. which might be once a week or once a month. HTH Jack

I guess this corrects an old memory of mine.. I was near the base in Orlando, FL a lot in 1970-71 and it was very common to see black B-52s every few days in the air, taking off or in the pattern low and slow, and I would have bet money that they were all-black instead of having SEA camo on the top. Oh well.. shows what happens when memories start being revised with time. Maybe my gray matter just finds it easier to keep up with fewer colors! LOL! Jack

Do you mean what carrier/shipper to use? Or best way to pack?

Thanks, Chuck! It's great to add a new name to the list of people you're glad you dealt with! Like ole Jim here.. he's a great guy too! You just need to be.. er.. careful when you open email attachments! You can never tell what you'll find!! lmao!!! But at least they're well packed. Thanks guys! Jack

Good to see that everything worked out for all involved! I've had several dealings and communcations with CMR and things have always been clear and prompt. Jack

Anyone Know What's Up With Cleveland Model Resins?
jmathews replied to ramcdaniel1's topic in Jet Modeling
Ditto what Sabre said.. heard from him and also received several items I had ordered a few days before. He's probably just busy making us more goodies. Jack -
Dropped off by the mail man: 1/72, 1/48 and 1/32 FOD Covers for Hasegawa, Revell and Tamiya! 1/32 Tornado Wing-Seal Bags! All from Rob at Cleveland Model Resins, and very nicely done bits!! Jack

Are these two 1/48 Hasegawa F-14B kits the same except for decals? VF-103 Last Flight #09677 VF-102 Diamondbacks #09639 Someone had told me that there might be some different parts in 09677, but I'm clueless! Thanks! Jack

Tower has Polly Scale for about $2.99 and their shipping has been dependable. Hobbylinc.com is usually between $3 and $3.50. I've bought Polly Scale at several places with prices comparable to Tower and Hobbylinc, but those are the two I can remember right now. Jack

Greyhound referred to the bus, not the dog, but you're right.. COD is what you usually hear. Jack

Just did another deal/trade with Sabre and, as always, Jim is a champ! Perfect deal in every way. Jack

Thanks, Jim.. you are more than kind. Jack

Sometimes it's not price, but availability. I don't see any 1/48 'vaark items on Paragon's list of currently available items. But this wasn't meant as a comparison.. just that Scaledown has a great product. Smooth crisp finish, no blocks to sand off and very little cleanup needed of any kind. I've used a lot of Paragon, and I'm sure I'll be getting more. But they don't currently cover every subject I might want to model.
