  1. An Alpha takeoff with the TF-30's: and a Bravo with the F-110's: I'd say just make a takeoff diorama.
  2. It was very possible and actually more common than you think. That was the standard configuration when taking off from a field in anything more than military power. If you watch pretty much any of the F-14 demo vids you'll see them taking off with the wings extended but the flaps and slats retracted since they liked those takeoffs in zone 5. Hope that helps.
  3. For those of you who know me, my other hobby is with a team of guys who try to recreate the Blue Angels demo in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Here is part 1 and 2 of our show over San Francisco (with actual Blues comms added). Part 3 and 4 are in the works. I'm in the slot.
  4. Spongebob nailed it. The video is a little shakey but fast foward to 1:20
  5. I think that is just the pylon for the fuel tank. Looks like its just painted a very light color.
  6. This is the Air Boss' report on the incident: http://www.hrana.org/documents/PaddlesSafetyGram.pdf
  7. When I first heard about the trim tab I immediately thought about an incident that happened to me in a simulator once. We had been given a runaway trim situation and for about 2 minutes while we ran the checklist I was having to hold the yoke forward with brute strength. My hands were sweaty and as I attemted to adjust my grip the yoke slipped out of my hand. That thing slammed back with a force that caused the entire sim to shake as it pitched up. If a pilot just had a normal grip on the stick and did not expect an instantaneous movement of the stick to that degree, I just don't see how they
  8. The last I read said the NTSB could find no evidence of a "mayday" call by the pilot. http://edition.cnn.com/2011/09/19/us/nevada-plane-crash-2/ He might not have ever known what happened.
  9. Cool markings. What causes those "backfires" during the catshot anyway?
  10. I swear I actually build models too, but they are not even close to being good enough to show modelers who are as good as you guys. So here is another of my videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8-Be6d5RP8
  11. But now for the real question: How the heck did they get that photo?! That jet just trapped! Awesome shot. BTW, here is that jet being painted: http://www.14jg5.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f...=61&start=0
  12. A couple vids of him getting his shots:
  13. I was wrong. I thought this was the best F-18 I had ever seen when I saw the finished pics. But no, when I see these pics and see that you scratch built things that most modelers buy after market.... its the best MODEL I've ever seen. Just mind-blowing.
  14. Thanks spejic! Thats exactly the kind of info I was looking for. As you can tell from me asking nearly 10 months early.... I'm excited.
  15. I think you're right. It's either a ship or a bouy. I'm wondering where they place the ship so I can pickout a spot directly in front of it.
  16. Hey guys. I've never been able to make it to a San Fran Fleet Week but I'm hoping to attend next year. I'd really like to pick out a spot in front of center point but I've no idea where thats at. Any help? Thanks.
  17. Hey fellas. I'm starting a new kit and am trying to find some pictures. The jet I'm looking for was an F-14A that belonged to VF-124 around the '91-'93 time frame modex number 411. Even just the BUNO would help but it would be cool to get some pictures. Thanks. Edit: Found the BUNO, 159629. Now just to find some pics back when she was still with 124.
  18. I think this is the best Hornet I've ever seen, and in 1/72 no less. Superb.
  19. The first thing that comes to mind is to heat the needle. That way it just "reforms" the plastic rather than pierce into it. I've never tried it, so take it for what its worth.
  20. Thanks for the compliments guys. I didn't know this was originally a Hasegawa kit. I was hoping to do another one but I cant find one anywhere. If anyone want to sell theirs let me know. PS: No one who has flown a Lear for very long uses pitot covers. Eventually you will find out that having the pitot tubes protected does not out-weigh melting the covers to them when you forget to take them off and test the pitot heat on the pre-flight!!! <_<
  21. After 11 years I’m back! It still has a couple of touch-ups but I knocked this one out pretty fast because of how excited I was. Partly due to feeling like a kid again, but mostly due to the fact that I actually fly this jet. The Kit is the Revell Learjet 35; a fantastic production. Everything fit perfectly with no problems at all. However, I had to do a lot of custom stuff to make it accurate. All of our Lears are “canned-out†meaning there is no interior so as to accommodate the cargo. I then added a more realistic jumpseat and a fire extinguisher. I cut out the hell hole and scratch b
  22. Now that is nice! I'm going to have to try that.
  23. That's what I was looking for. I'm going to use this for the clear lamps and the lite brite idea for the beacons. I'm going to feel really funny going to walmart and picking up a lite brite all by itself!
