Hi Guys, At present I mainly want to make resin-type parts. I'd like to possibly even print and build scale aircraft or conversions that aren't offered as a model or are no longer available. Of course for a complete air frame I'd have to (depending on scale) possibly print it in sections and assemble them. I'm also aware this might involve a lot in getting it to work right.....I know a lot of clean up work like sanding and scribing will also be in the order as well. And another thing: I don't know if it's just bad timing or bad luck but a lot of the times I go to loo

Budget-wise I was looking to spend about $300 to $500 and what I wanted to make mainly consisted of building parts from 1/32 to 1/144 scale. Are there any books, websites, videos, etc. out there regarding scratch-building model air frames? I have scratch built several small parts from styrene plastic sheet, tubing and Milliput over the years to dress up my models but I have never built an entire model aircraft and would like to give it a shot. Only thing that's keeping me from embarking on such an endeavor is how to shape aircraft curves. I know it can be done from styrene plastic; I just don't know where to start. Any suggestions? Hello, Could someone please tell me if the Russian fighter jets of the 1950's and 60's were bare metal or painted over with aluminum lacquer? I'm planning to start building a 1/48 MiG-17PF in Russian markings but it just lists the skin color as "aluminum." I've seen a plethora of photos on the net; some seem painted others seem bare. Any help as to which one? Thank you!

Hello everyone! I'm currently building the Hasewgawa 1/48 A-4E Skyhawk and I'm trying to determine the best way to mask and paint the intake lip. My reference pictures show the inner portion of this area has a red stripe that extends aft about 4" from the edge and covers the entire inner lip (as shown in the link below). Afterwards it's painted white all the way up to the engine. I can easily mask the red outside portion with tape.....any suggestions on how to mask and paint the red portion on the inside? That's a good point Diamondback. I agree, compared to today's standards the tooling on these kits is ancient. I guess that Eduard deems these old dinosaurs of no particular value and that's why they replied like they did. Oh well, it's their loss not mine!

Hello, A while back I contacted Eduard support and suggested they build and release a photoetch set to dress up Monogram's 1/48 F-106 Delta Dart. I received a reply from Libor Havranek at Eduard that read as follows: "Unfortunately, I've found out that we've already released detail sets for the mentioned kit in the past. However we're not going to re-issue them, nor make a redesign of them. The previous sets are quite old and depreciated - we do not have any of them left in our stock." Thanks for the reply Curt! I used Liquid Plumber to remove enamel paint from a phototech part years ago just as an experiment. After soaking it for about 24 hours it did remove the paint. I will definitely test it on a piece of resin scrap just to see what it does first. Regarding what I have: I'm trying to remove paint from a cockpit tub on a 1/48 Hasegawa F-4 (not sure what brand resin this is). I bought this kit at an estate sale; somebody hand painted this part and brush strokes are everywhere making it look pretty rough. I'm not sure it the paint is acrylic or enamel but I'd like to rem

Oh no no no, I dont mean to sound whining or childish, I'm just illustrating a point. Yes, I know several people who after they seemingly get the cold shoulder from a company they adopt the "I wont buy from them again" mentality but I'm not like that my friend. As an Aircraft builder I've bought several aircraft sets from Quickboost. Even if they decide not to salute my request I'm not going to boycott them. Then again, a little acknowledgement is better than nothing at all!

Steven, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has an issue with it. And you're correct, a simple automated thank you would be better than no reply at all. How these companies stay afloat without good customer rapport is anyone's guess!

Hello! Has anyone ever received any feedback or seen anything they requested produced by Quickboost? Their website reads "send us your personal wish what could be produced during next months." Over the past 4 or so years I (and some friends of mine) have sent them several requests only to either never hear back and/or never see anything we requested produced. Quickboost makes some really nice resin detail sets but is anyone minding the customer service dept.? Jennings, I've often wondered that myself. What "research" (if any) Trumpeter does is miniscule at best and it shows! About 10 years ago I raced out to buy Trumpeter's 1/32 F-105D only to have errors abound all over it. Cutting Edge addressed most of these discrepancies with correction sets but before I could buy them Cutting Edge mysteriously vamoosed out of business. My 105 has been stowed indefinitely in my closet since! I'm not as quick to make the same mistake twice!
