  1. I would also like to know the history of the above airframe if anyone knows? Gaz
  2. Does anyone have any pictures of TE203 at all ??? (the depicted one in the Tamiya box!) Scanned or copied - I'm not too bothered but would have liked to see what the actual airframe looked like when it was based at RAF Finningley in the late 40s in its silver finish. Also, did it have the wing training bands in yellow applied? Thanks for looking Gaz
  3. Here's my in-progress build on the BIG Tamiya Phantom - I really like the way this turned out - tell me whut y'all think guys? Currently building the loooong Hasegawa F-104G (for Germany!) Starfighter - Now that's a good kit too! I'll try to post some pics when it comes to fruition. Cheers Gaz
  4. Another blast from the past - Why are these posts not showing up in my profile anymore? Tell me what you think please? Gaz
  5. ??? Anyone know what's happened to the 'In Progress' build article I posted on the Tamiya 'Rhino' ??? Does stuff get archived after so long or something? Gaz
  6. Wow! - I can't believe I made this kit 3 yeaars ago - I was up in the storage space recently and still cannot believe how much this kit actually weighs!
  7. Here's some pics of Wildcat AL246 at Yeovilton FAA Museum when she was being refurbished back in 2006. Pretty interesting shots but my battery ran out on the bloody camera after the cockpit shots! The starboard wingtip being refurbished - no record exists in the planes log for the repair patch beneath! Also, note the light blue under the tip - That's not 'Sky' as we know it! The wheel well compartment behind the engine - note the colours! The engine ....and of course the cockpit We were there on holiday and the chap showing us the aircraft, (a bearded FAA ex-Phantom

Very accommod
  9. We've just started a new model club in the North Lincs area of the UK and would much appreciate fellow modellers coming along to give their ideas on: a) How to run the club (It's an IPMS affiliated branch) B) Give tips on model building and techniques c) Maybe join the members in a cup of sludge! (That's 'coffee' or tea to you & me!) d) Have a few laughs and chats about all things model-related out there in the world Meetings are at the Westcliff Community Centre off West Common Lane in Scunthorpe, North Lincs. on the 1st & 3rd Monday of each month from 19:30 for about 2 hours.
  10. The Spit 16e is on my modelling bench at the moment and is gonna be completed in the all-silver 'Pilot Fighter Refresher Unit' scheme which, according to Tamiya is all-over silver with a single yellow trainer band on the rear fuselage. Should there not be similar yellow bands on the wings for this scheme and also, has anyone any more info on the unit from RAF Finningley in 1947/48? Any pointers or pics or help of any sort would be most welcome! Gaz
  11. Thanks Edgar (to the rescue again!) - the XVIe cannon barrels appeared to be smoother and had a more rounded kinda curve to the fairings where the 'C' wing barrels look much more angular. Where does this criticism of Tamiyas depiction come from then? Gaz
  12. Some reviewers have stated that the plastic 20mm cannon barrels on the 'C' wing in the big Tamiya Spit kits are wrong for late model Spitfires..... What exactly is wrong with them? I was planning on getting some of the excellent brass turned barrels from Master Model of Poland but just thought I'd ask you guys before parting with the old hard-earned! Cheers Gaz
  13. Hmmmmmmm - Very nice! But at what price???! Gaz
  14. From Ice Pirates: Roscoe - "Space herpes?!" Jason (looking at the robot Roscoe has built): "I don't mean anything by this but is there any particularly reason that he is black." Roscoe: [smiling] "Sure, I wanted him to be perfect." Gaz
  15. Wow! Great pictures Forestfan - I love that post-war Halifax, what scale was that? The big Spitfire was very nicely done too. In fact they all were! Thanks for sharing them Gaz
  16. Does Fiji have its own air force then? Gaz
  17. From Time Bandits Robin Hood: And you're a robber too. How long have you been a robber? Strutter: Four foot one. Robin Hood: Good lord! Jolly good. Four foot one? Well that-that-that is-is- a long time, isn't it? Randall: People who are always right make me sick! Fidgit: That's why you get along with yourself so well! Evil: If I were creating the world I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would have started with lasers, eight o'clock, Day One! [zaps one of his minions accidentally, minion screams] Evil: Sorry. Strutter: [slaps Kevin] Get down, you nearly got
  18. I can't for the life of me remember which film that comes from but it cracks me up! (Possibly Pulp Fiction but I'm not sure) What's your fave funny line from the movies? (and which movie was it if you can remember?) Gaz
  19. Not being an ardent fan of CM/C&W music what is Steve Earl classed as in music terms - I like some of his Copperhead Road style songs where he mentions Vietnam and WWII & stuff. Gaz
  20. Hehehehe! Excellent advice Kopfjaeger! Waiting 'til the end of March to get the old bike (wheel at each end, reciprocating engine in the middle, pilot/rider usually on top!) back on the road for summer...... Can't wait as we're having a warm spell atm. Ride on! Gaz
  21. The trials & tribulations of the world aside, I've been in a bit of a modelling.....erm......shall we say 'depression'? When the big Phantom wuz finished, I had every intention of starting on the big Hasegawa Starfighter but it never really grabbed me like the F-4 did. Stalled on that and built a marvellous Tamiya motorbike (motorcycle to all you Americans) - Wonderful! After that came a DML Tiger target erm, tank which has just been completed. Now what? I've got the Tamiya 1/32 Spit VIII which I would like to get started on but I'm waiting for some bits from Roy Sutherland's Barracud
  22. Resin only requires a wash in some mild soapy water - no need for etching primer (?!) - I just gave mine a light spray over with some rattle-can Tamiya grey primer then a darker wash before picking out the details. - Not a problem 'cos when you've got it clean, resin is just like plastic as far as painting is concerned. - You have to glue it with cyano or epoxy glue though! Have fun! Gaz
  23. Kinda looks like he's wearing shades there Wiggy Nice work so far - I can't wait to see the finished article! Gaz - Lifelong Spitfire fan
  24. Looks a little like a Fairey Delta 2 with twin fins...... Gaz
