  1. As per the discussion of the FLIR, the "indentation " portion of the FLIR threw me off. This part of thr FLIR is facing the aircraft station point. Not exposing this part making me think that the FLIR you are using was in correct. I went to the hangar floor and personally checked this out. The FLIR you are using is the correct one. I humbly apologize on my position and stand corrected. Cheers
  2. Note the lack of the indentation(bottom of the pod) for the lens. The newer versions have the head(laser designator and FLIR Lense) totally encapsulated. Cheers
  3. Sorry my bad, was thinking of a different version that we currently use now. Not the ones that you are referring to being employed during that time frame. Cheers
  4. Awesome looking, just a small tip, Don't use that FLIR pod. Its the wrong one. Cheers
  5. I have Sears Craftsman 5 HP 33 Gallon...for that size you will be able to prime, and apply a least a 2 colour scheme for the final coat...and gloss coat and finnish the trim in the Living room with a nail gun and fill the kids bicylcle tires and the family car tires... Cheers
  6. Penetration of a 30mm round (going the speed of sound at least!) into a 1" thick acrylic conopy/windscreen, of which is covering a pressurized cockpit. The results may vary, but if the a/c is at low altitude, I have seen large chunks come off with some cracking. I have witnessed a 5lb duck hit a windscreen over 300 mph, and the canopy broke into several peices...its not really what I had expected...but Hollywood would not doubt make it more "exciting". Cheers
  7. Yes any info would be nice before I invest many dollars. Cheers
  8. Having a store of my own, I would suggest maybe start with a lesser version of the 4704($200.00 ?). Such as the TES4305 ( http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=46 ). This brush offers a slightly different body but not all the nozzles from the set of 4709. The 4704 is a blue clear body...ooohhhh :P ...for a few dollars cheaper you can get more accessories from the 4305 and the same interchageability as the rest of the line of the 4000 series. You can increase you inventory of accessories as you modelling skills increase, such as the nozzles and are approx. $15.00 CAD each an can be pu
  9. 99% alcohol at the local grocery or pharmacy usually has it for a buck or 2. This stuff works better than the 70%, less paint peeling, offers a better adhesion to the medium. Also the Gunze Thinner is way better for overall performance in respect to adhesion, color and drying time. Although it is MUCH more expensive...in the end...99% is the way to go. Cheers
  10. Awesome...have been following your project for sometime...but I feel kinda sheepish right now...can I add something? Maybe you can let me know...if I'm out to lunch on this...the exhaust ports...a touch of black to make the ports look like they are hollow, only on the very ends. But please understand...it is truly awesome...be very proud of your accomplishment. Cheers
  11. Just alittle history on the gear...the Canadian version of the gear was actually the "Field" gear. Installed on a/c that where not intented to land on A/C Carriers. Since Canada does not have any, they decided to go with the "Field" version offered by McDonnel Douglas. The Carrier gear has the main oleo we currently see"upside down" on all C/D and most modified A versions. These oleos are actually beefier. Larger in size to take a larger impact on landing, I believe they are rated at 20ft/s and the "Field" type at 17ft/s decent rate. Cheers Frog
  12. As an avid Gunze user...The 100% alcohol causes the paint to almost dry immediately upon contact to the subject matter. It also may cause "Gloss" paint to become a satin to a flat finish. Water hover does not give the above mentioned results. Takes longer to "set"(as acrylics set-physical change, enamal dries-chemical reaction) with water. This may take more care as not to create more "paint runs". I prefer the quick drying effect. This helps me in my painting envrionment, less dust particles on my subject. Then create the gloss effect with a gloss aftermarket product. With that said, I hav
  13. I have used Gunze Gloss Black reduced w/Gunze Thinner. Applied the Alcladd II polished chrome and have had excellent results. Also I make note to spray only on dry days. Not while there is a chance iof rain, humidity can cause this effect that you have experienced. Cheers Frog
  14. Just be very careful...there are some discrepencies for color cross references from one company to another...just double check...check twice paint once! But I do agree that IPMS Stockholm has a very good reference.
  15. Anybody in Alberta use resin and where to get it....also how about etching solution? Cheers Frog
