  1. Hi John At http://www.fineartofdecals.com/goodies/132-treasures/ you can find some colorful options as well. I am not sure how many are specifically for late Bf 109 G-6 and G-14 subtypes but perhaps you might find one that catches your eye. I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo
  2. Hi guys Here is the web page to order the correction set for the Revell 1/32 scale Bf 109 G-6. It is quite complete and the price does not appear to be excessive in my opinion considering what one gets (about $24 at current exchange rates). Considering that the base kit is about the same price one can get a very accurate and detailed model at a lower price than either the Hasegawa or Trumpeter base kits. http://www.a2zeemodels.co.uk/messerschmitt-bf-109-upgrade-set-for-revell-kit-6258-p.asp Horrido! 3. Hi guys Perhaps the following link can be helpful? I have no idea how accurate it is and I am aware that certain aircraft are known to have had certain areas of the cockpit repainted from RLM 02 to RLM 66 prior to the official changeover in November 1941 but overall it does seem to be a nice guide to painting Luftwaffe interiors. http://www.swannysmodels.com/Painting.html Horrido! 4. Hi guys Just heads up that it appears that A2Zee Models will be releasing a nice correction set for this kit that addresses the majority of the mainly minor inaccuracies present. The relevant article is on pages five and six for those interested. http://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?showtopic=46645 Horrido! Leo
  5. Hi guys The only thing that I have uncovered is that the engine was changed to a Wright SR-1820F-53 and that the wing structure reverted to being of wood. I believe that Mike West of Lone Star Models is working on a resin set to convert the old Hasegawa 1/32 scale Curtiss BF2C-1 into the export Hawk III. I have no idea when it might be available but it would be something that I would be very interested in since this is one of my favorite aircraft. Horrido! Leo
  6. Hi guys There is a very nice review of this kit at the following link: http://forum.largescalemodeller.com/topic/1238-revell-132-messerschmitt-bf-109g-6-early-and-late/ It appears to be quite a noticeable improvement over the Hasegawa and Trumpeter kits and at a very reasonable price to boot. Horrido! Leo
  7. Hi guys It is my understanding the Roy Sutherland was involved to some extent with the PCM kit and if I remember correctly he stated that there is no commonality between it and the Special Hobby kit. Horrido! Leo
  8. Hi guys Brett Green is in the process of building a test shot of the Revell of Germany kit and makes a number of comments regarding this upcoming release. For what I have read the overall shapes and dimensions appear to be accurate and the detail is superior to the Hasegawa kit. The engineering and fit seem to be very good indeed. I am particularly pleased that the breech cover for the MK 108 is included to build a Bf 109 G-6/U4 along with the other options. It is more than a little disappointing that Revell of Germany got many of the same areas wrong that Hasegawa did such as the propellers,
  9. Hi guys I noticed that on other forums there is some discussion as whether or not the kit is the correct length. Apparently the Bf 109 G-6 measured 9.02 meters in real life or about 282 millimeters in 1/32 scale. The concern was that the kit was too short as the length was often stated to be 280 millimeters but on the Revell of Germany website the length is listed as being 284 millimeters which if anything would make it too long. Of course, one needs to have the plastic in hand before making any assumptions but I thought this issue might as well be brought up since it has been mentioned previ
  10. Hello Collin Yes, it does appear as if there will be a number of options available if the sprue shots show what will be included in the boxing. In addition to the options you listed I see they also included the rear cockpit cover with and without the relocated battery box for the standard G-6 or that fitted with MW 50. Hasegawa omitted that feature and also messed up the drop tank on their kit whereas the drop tank included in the Revell of Germany kit appears to be more accurate. Horrido! Leo
  11. Hi guys I am glad that Revell of Germany has released this kit and will be waiting to see just how good is it once it is released. The Hasegawa and Trumpeter versions suffer from numerous small errors so it will be interesting to see how the Revell kit compares to both. It appears that there are quite a lot of options included which complicates building but is a plus in my opinion as it gives you much more flexibility without having to buy aftermarket. If I am not mistaken, Special Hobby has announced a 1/32 scale Tempest and PCM has a very nice 1/32 scale Hurricane I available. Horrido! L
  12. Hi guys Many thanks for the heads up concerning the Eduard Brassin sets. I was looking at these for my planned Cyber-Hobby Bf 109 E-3 and they seemed very nice indeed but I think that I will be looking at other options in light of what is reported on this thread. Hopefully, not all examples share these issues. As an aside, I have to admit that I have purchased a considerable amount of resin aftermarket sets for three 1/32 scale Fw 190s that I have planned as well but all this is being kept in storage for me in the USA while I am overseas at the moment so I have not been able to look at them o
  13. Hi guys I have to say that I like the look of the fabric belts made by Jan Bobek of HGW Models or Radu Brinzan of RB Productions. Recently Fine Molds have begun releasing some very nice flexible plastic seat belts under the Nano Aviation label as well. In my opinion any one of the above is considerably superior to either photo-etched or molded on resin seat belts. Horrido! Leo
  14. Hi guys Many thanks for your responses. I have come across some mention that the panel lines on Zoukei-Mura kits are somewhat soft in comparison to other manufactures, including Hasegawa. These are very nice kits and I have seen some amazing builds of the Ta 152 and the Skyraider but much of their focus is on the internal structure which for me at least is not that important. One thing that I would really like from a Zoukei-Mura Fw 190 is the almost certainly included BMW 801 rather than just a rather simplified engine front as on the Hasegawa. At the same time, though, the Hasegawa Fw 190 se
  15. Hi guys I just saw on Large Scale Planes Forums that there is a possibility of Zoukei-Mura releasing a 1/32 scale BMW-powered Fw 190 model in the future. We have the basic but accurate Hasegawa series, the limited run PCM Fw 190 A-1/2/3 and the Montex resin conversion sets of the A-3/4 for the Hasegawa kits. What are your opinions of a possible Zoukei-Mura model of this fighter? Overall they seem like quite nice kits and generally appear to be quite accurate but I must admit that I have little interest in their internal details included approach. I do not have any of their kits so far but I m
  16. Hi guys In somewhat related news for those not aware it appears that the E-3 version will be released soon. http://www.cyber-hobby.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=11204 Horrido! Leo
  17. Hi guys It appears that the Karaya correction set for the Eduard 1/48 scale Fw 190 A-8 is finally available. It seems to be a very nice set indeed and corrects the major errors of the kit such as the too thick tail and cylindrical cowl in addition to including numerous upgraded parts such as the gun cowl and landing gear. http://www.karaya.pl/en/-/0/focke-wulf-fw-190-a-8-f-8-detail-and-correction-set-kares01.html Horrido! Bf 110 C

Hi guys Perhaps (or maybe not) I should mention that online there is floating around a technical report by Vultee Aircraft Corporation entitled USA Analysis of the Messerschmitt Me 110 that has as its focus Bf 110 D-0/B "S9 + CK" (W.Nr. 3341) of 2./Erpr.Gr 210 that was shot down on 15 August 1940 during the Battle of Britain and shipped to the USA in April 1941 for evaluation. If I remember correctly it does not include anything on rivet patterns but it does contain quite a lot of technical information on the type that might be of some interest to modellers. Horrido! Leo

    Bf 110 C

Hello James Another reference that you may wish to look at is Messerschmitt Bf 110 C, D and E: An Illustrated Study by noted Bf 110 author and expert John Vasco. http://www.amazon.com/Messerschmitt-Bf-110-Illustrated-Study/dp/190322389X I hope this helps. Horrido! Leo
  20. Hi guys It appears that Silverwings will be releasing a new 1/32 scale kit of the Fiat CR 42 this month. It is great to see a large scale kit of this very attractive fighter released by such a high quality company. http://www.silverwings.pl/132-fiat-cr42-coming-soon.html Horrido! Leo
  21. Hi guys It also appears that I., II. and IV./JG 51 had a varying number of the Bf 109 E-7 on strength in early 1942. It would be interesting if any aftermarket decal set offers a machine of any of these as an option. Horrido! Leo
  22. Hi KOG7777 About the only resin aftermarket parts that you can buy for the Hasegawa 1/32 scale Fw 190 A-5 are the propeller and spinner by Eagle Editions and the early style main wheels by the same company. Hasegawa uses the same late style main wheels with smooth tread on their range of 1/32 scale Fw 190s and the majority of the A-1 through A-6 versions in reality used a main wheel with lightning holes and radial tread. Unfortunately the are no resin aftermarket MG 17 and MG FF that I am aware of so to replace the not so good kit guns you will have to get the much more expensive brass ones b
  23. Hi KOG7777 In regards to the Hasegawa 1/32 scale Fw 190 A-8 and D-9 a resin aftermarket upgrade that would be highly recommended to get would be the gun cowls for either of these made by Eagle Editions as the kit supplied parts are noticeably inaccurate. Eagle Parts also makes a upgrade set for the Fw 190 A-8 spinner and propeller and Wedgetail makes a propeller for the Fw 190 D-9 although the availability of the latter is an issue. Eagle Editions and MDC also offer drop tanks that are considerably more accurate than the one included in the Fw 190 A-8 kit. Eagle Editions also has available an
  24. Hello Stona Thanks for the additional information regarding that Bf 109 G-2/Trop (W.Nr. 14 256) did not have any code applied at the time of the incident. The lists that I have do not include this information so it was quite interesting to know of it. This would mean that the aircraft had no Yellow 14 or other such tactical code applied. Horrido! Leo
  25. Hi Otto What comments I have seen on the matter generally tend to the case that if you are interested in metal landing gear legs you should go for G-Factor brass ones rather than the white metal versions for reasons of strength and detail. Mostly the consensus is that metal landing gear is useful if the kit is already quite heavy, is going to be moved around a lot such to shows and exhibits or you plan on adding a lot of resin aftermarket parts. I have read that the Scale Aircraft Conversions landing gears are more often than not the kit parts cast in white metal and often poor executed at th
