  1. All of them. Soft edge, easily malleable, reusable, no oily residue, cheap, easy to correct mistakes. Just keep it in the plastic egg it comes with.
  2. Silly putty. Comes in an egg, reusable, no residue. Same stuff we played with as a kid.. Ive trued other techniques but think this is the best.
  3. Ive tried blue tac but think IMO silly putty works much better. Besides, working with it again brings back all those great childhood memories.
  4. Forget the tape for camo. I used silly putty on my current Spitfire build and it works great. It comes in an egg, and you can re-use it
  5. Greetings. I bought an ultrasonic cleaner and its well worth the investment. You dont have to spend a lot of money either. Works very well with just soap and water. My airbrushes come out looking like new. There is a lot of info out there on the topic.
  6. Excellent video. Thank you and looking forward to the next ones. After looking at the video it appeared that you didn't use a primer before painting, was wondering if you normally did that and the reason why. I was under the impression that you should always use a primer. Thank you
  7. Greetings, I wanted to reply to this thread. I own 2 Iwata's, a Peak and a H&S Evolution. All are very good airbrushes, especially the H&S which are a little on the pricey side. I recently read very positive reviews on the Badger Krome. Saw that it was inexpensive and had to try one. I have never owned a Badger product before. I had some difficutly trying to get one, it seems that they sell out as soon as they come in. I thought that this was a very good sign. I finally got one from tcgraphics who was selling them for $115.00 shipped. All I can say is WOW. The Krome came wi
  8. Greetings, I just wanted to pass this along to anyone having questions about painting with an airbrush. I just discovered this link to Dr. Cranky's videos. Check out http://www.youtube.com/user/damncranky666?feature=mhum for excellent videos on modeling starting with airbrush basics and thinning paint and much more. I had never heard of this individual but he is apparently well know to the model car addicts. He just started a series of instructional videos on u-tube and they are very informative. You can ask all the questions you want and get written responses but nothing beats a vid
  9. Very nice build and I especially like the chiping. What technique did u use? cbreeze
  10. As far as temperature is concerned, I paint in my spray booth which has a light. After spraying, I leave the pieces in the booth with the light on to assist in drying. Not having a specific number, it is actually pretty warm in the booth with the added heat from the light bulb. BTW last night I painted a couple of additional pieces but used Model Master acrylic gloss for the gloss coat. We'll see what happens. cbreeze
  11. Thanks to everyone that replied. Pieces were primed. Primer was either Mr. Surfacer or Vallejo. Model Air was sprayed unthinned. Future went on straight from the bottle. Several days lapsed between color coat and future. It is hard to tell where the cracks are but apear to be the Vallejo. I had heard that Vallejo takes longer to cure. Huntermountain, I was wondering how long you let the Vallejo cure before you clear coat? Thanks, cbreeze
  12. Greetings, I recently started using Vallejo acrylics. In my current build, I painted a water container with Model Air and then glossed it with Future. I now noticed that it developed cracks that look like spider webs. This was with a brand new bottle of Future and other pieces that were painted with Tamiya acrylics and glossed with the same container of Future appear fine. I am suspecting that there might be a compability problem between Vallejo and Future. BTW, several days had lapsed before the gloss coat so the Vallejo should have had plenty of time to dry. I was wondering if anyone else h
  13. Greetings, Can you please keep this thread updated? I have the same compressor and never thought of the switch going south. I would also like to know what to do if mine ever fails. Thank you, Cbreeze
  14. Greetings, I have played with MM acrylics for years and never could get consistent sprays no matter what I tried. I recently switched to Vallejo acrylics. The Model Air line is ready for spraying right out of the bottle and works great. The Model Color line is fantastic for brushing. You could also spray the Model Color line but thin with Vallejo thinner at 50% thinner/paint. The Vallejo primer is also fantastic and comes in white, gray and black. The primer likes pressure so shoot at around 30 psi for best results. If I sound like a Vallejo commercial it's because they are great. Af
