  1. Just a quick plug for this book. I am a huge fan of the Concorde (not the politics) and I received my copy of it today in the mail. The reviews and content can be read about here: Amazon.com I found it a very nice book with some great photos as well as operational data that is not generally found in other publications about this aircraft. Even goes on about how to start the engines. I have only leafed through it from cover to cover rather quickly but what I've read so far, here and there, I've really enjoyed. It's not that expensive and has some great references for us nit-pickers in
  2. Will this help? 1/50 John Deere Tractor diecast
  3. On the show Two And A Half Men, Charlie and Alan were arguing, as is the usual and Alan said, "So, fine, take away your money and your house on the beach and your expensive car and your hot, adolescent girlfriends and what have you got?" And Charlie says, "You." Funny line and I was paraphrasing. But Charlie is entirely able to do as he pleases, even if that includes destroying himself. I like the show. But he is just entertainment. I have a life and when his show is over, I shut it off. Nothing he says or does interests me otherwise. That he makes millions basically being himself on
  4. I can't say that the kit is extremely well-made. However it appears accurate in most respects, given the dimensions and such. You can see the obvious rough molding and uneven-ness of the straight edges. I fully intend to take some very fine emery paper and wetsand all surfaces entirely, then probably polish them as well before assembly...and during...and after. The instructions appear pretty straightforward and one thing I didn't include is the page of history that comes with the model. The real strongpoint appears to be the decals. There are reg numbers for every BOAC Comet 1/1A ther
  5. Here they are. Ta-daaaaa The music is perhaps a little presumptuous. The kit is tiny, as was expected and in general, represents a Comet 1.
  6. My "hopes" are not very high. But barring a vac-kit or scratchbuilding one myself, this is a good thing. At least there's something that represents the aircraft and my only real concern is proportions and dimensions. The photos at the F-RSIN site aren't that great so that's why I'm planning on posting better photos of the kit when it gets here. Should still make a nice display. Probably a candidate as a tail-sitter as well.
  7. From which pylon do they hang the guy with the hemmet?
  8. Thanks, Ray, but I founded it all on my own... Ordered one, it's in the mail from Chandler, AZ and should be here soon. Will post piccies when it arrives. I'm thinkin' I might do the all-aluminium prototype, in-flight (ie: "plane-on-a-stick) but the decals look so good that I may have to make it B*O*A*C. For those who like Big 'uns Comet 4C RC jet
  9. I have learned that over time, the Elmer's gel glue shrinks and ends up looking pretty bad. Looks great at first though. If you don't mind re-doing it occasionally, that's fine I guess. But, Micro Crystal Klear works very nicely. I had toyed with the idea of cutting out clear "glass" panels that fit in the frameworks and gluing them in with the Klear. That's fine if you can cut them that precisely and they are absolutely flat. Not an easy task but the Klear is probably the easiest and looks very nice. Trick is, if you want the "glass" to be flush with the frame, you have to bevel the fr
  10. Recently discovered that F-RSIN makes an injected kit of the original DeHavilland Comet 1/1A in 1/144. F-RSIN website/photo of kit Was wondering who is the distributor for F-RSIN in the US as I can only find it on eBay for mega-bucks. 27GBP, about $44+shipping. No thanks. But the kit looks decent but no windows, only decals which is fine. Would add nicely to my early jet airliner collection. Thanks for any clues that might help locate a seller in the US. Fang Update: Airline Hobby Supply has them. AHS listing $42 US plus shipping. I took the plunge, having a slight surplus of c
  11. Two television series: Briscoe County Jr and Terminator, The Sarah Conner Chronicles. All characters were superb actors and played their parts flawlessly. However, when it comes to TV series, the ones I really like and will even make the extra effort to move my schedule to see, always get canceled.
  12. It was Dempsey Wilson, driving a Kuzma-Offenhauser car, #59 in the 1958 Indy 500. (in case anyone wondered) DNF but came in 15th after a failed clutch pedal in lap 152. AJ Foyt came in at 16th behind him having spun out and wrecked in lap 149. Additionally, the actor Van Johnson failed to qualify for that race, crashing his car during practice. 1958 Indy 500 Stats
  13. You want to complain? I want to complain! Look at these shoes! I've only had 'em three weeks and the soles've worn right through.
  14. I know and I hate to have even said it. I hope it's taken care of in the engineering process but I wouldn't be too bothered to put them all in one by one as long as they had holes to go into. Still, it's a very impressive model and I like it a great deal. Wish they had it when I was in grade school. It would've had a place of honor on my dresser. That could still happen.

  16. I absolutely love it. However...and I hate to even say it. Was the B-17G flush-riveted? If not, that's a huge error on a kit this size. Then, I guess for the nit-pickers like me, I could order a few thousands of scale rivets and stick them in all the holes. (Like some are telling me to do now...) I don't want to take away from the overall beauty of this newcomer though. It's truly a monumental undertaking and will definitely take center stage in the 1/32 spotlight. It's a beaut! Thinking of ordering one.
  17. It's like a cheese danish, without the frosting.
