  1. Shawn, It's nice to see one of the hastily camouflaged Maple Flag CF-101B examples. Well done sir! Your KH example is also nice. Only ever built two of the Monogram kits. I think I still have one left. Good to know it is the better of the two. K/r, Dutch
  2. Bryan, Oh, nice project! Those are the long wing 147s, correct? (Sorry, I don't have my Teledyne-Ryan 147 model chart in front of me.) That explains the extra sway braces from the top of the pylon to the drone wings. However, your photo also shows the extra chord and zig-zag on the lower pylon trailing edge. After looking at photos of the US Navy VC-3 DC-130A, it appears that the Shapeways 3D printed DC-130 pylons are for this version or for just carrying the short wing drones as this USAF DC-130A is doing. 3. I would build a standard USAF SEA camo DC-130A from Vietnam or Davis-Monthan era or a more colorful USN DC-130A from Point Mugu, so I think that these pylons will work.
  4. So, yesterday or the day before, I asked Bill at Bill's Models about the possibility of creating 1/144 drone pylons for the DC-130A. I just received notification that they are ready! How is that for service?
  5. Here's a link to an Air Force Museum 77 pp booklet on early winged missiles. Enjoy!
  6. Bryan, I am completely ignorant of the limitations of 3D filament or resin printing, so my apology is in order on that score. Yes, I have to have at least two cups of coffee before I do any math. The 3D drones appear to be a little "clunky" as you pointed out. Also there is some kind of strange bulge forward and slightly above the wing root. May have to file that down. I will probably thin the wing and stab LE & TE a little. Those are the biggest factors in the clunky appearance. But I also like the long body, long wing 147s. Carry on, good Sir! K/r Dutch
  7. Two thumbs up! 😀
  8. Rob, I have one of the Corgi DC-130A and LC-130R kits. They are die-cast and very heavy. I haven't measured the drones for accuracy. I figured it was the easiest way to add these two Herk models to my 1/144 Hercules collection. Oh, I received word from Bill and Shapeways that the issue was resolved and my order is being processed for printing and then shipping. I should be able to share photos in a week to ten days when it arrives. K/r, Dutch
  9. Beautiful. I don't ever get tired of looking at that scheme!
  10. Bryan & Rob, I placed an order last week on Shapeways.com for a bunch of 3D printed items, including a couple of 1/144 scale BQM-34A Firebee drones for a 1/144 DP-2E Neptune project. Two days later they send me an email saying that they are processing the order except for the BQM-34A which is out of print parameters and they're coordinating with the designer (Bill's Models). If the designer does not respond within seven days, Shapeways will cancel that item from my order. I was really hoping to get some 1/144 BQM-34As for my planned Neptune and Hercules projects. I have also cont
  11. Masterful! That is a lot of masking! But your results are superb.
  12. Sorry, that's what I meant: windscreen wider than fuselage. I sanded the port side and lost the windscreen and lower window detail. Also need to add a thin piece of sprue between clear piece and radome to fill the gap. I made a mental note to shim fuselage top seam on my future builds. I am beginning to wonder if my mother-in-law's dementia is contagious! 🙃
  13. Beautiful Herk, Chris! Nicely done. I like the subtle weathering as well. Thanks for capturing this short lived scheme. Did you have any troubles getting the canopy to fit the extra wide fuselage? I have had no end of trouble getting mine to fit correctly. I finally bondoed it up and used window decals on my first three examples. I will try to narrow the fuselage halves on my future Minicraft Herks. Can't wait for the GWH 1/144 C-130H to arrive. 14. Gorgeous! Love all the extra details, especially the positive rivets! They really "pop out" in this scale!
  15. As Storm said, What a terrific idea! I love it.
  16. You have brought this classic kit to life! Well done, sir!
  17. Shawn, Nicely done. Do you own stock in Above & Below? Every time you build a model, Andrew declares a dividend!
  18. Jost, Congratulations! Extremely well done, sir. Your scale models look absolutely authentic; which is the point of building a scale model!
  19. I am normally a woodworker, but I do like that 3D printed aircraft stand. Something I could download the plans and print myself.
  20. Very nice! Beats my effort from ~40 years ago, hands down!
  21. I was wanting to build a 1/72 C-119L with the Curtiss Electric square-tipped props, I thought. After searching and searching for Aeroclub P094, I finally located a set on eVilbay for a decent price. During all this I did further research and finally found a photo of the aircraft and discovered that it had the Hamilton Standard cuffed props as depicted in Aeroclub P103 (erroneously labeled as Curtiss Electric, I think). So I want to trade my Aeroclub set P094 of squared tipped C-E Connie props for a similar set of Aeroclub P103 round tipped C-E (H-S?) Connie props. I can't use the kit props
  22. Swimmer! Another stunner! Love it!
