Beautiful.
Seeing excellent work like yours keeps me from finishing my projects.
I figure "What" s the point?"
I completely understand where you're coming from and it stopped me from posting my builds for many years.
I began equating building models to my love of golf. I'm not Tiger Woods, I'll never be Tiger Woods and I'll never hit a shot like Tiger Woods. There's no chance, ever.
BUT, I can get a little better at hitting certain shots. I can get a little better at working the ball right to left. I can work on finishing higher.
Like golf, modeling ultimately became a game against myself. Trying different methods and techniques a achieve the effect I wanted, or at least a little closer. Trying to get a little better every kit.
I'll never be Rotorman, there's no chance ever, but I can certainly marvel at his talent and skill.

That's a great looking build!
Is it safe to say that all the parts for a Delta are in the new boxing?
Thank you and Yes, everything is essentially there for a D. The kit fuselage in all actuality represents a C more than anything but Italeri did include enough bits to represent an early block I F. Its missing the IR louvers covering the clamb shell doors, engine and forward pylon vents if your trying to build a later block I.

Pretty cool looking -47. The faded and bleached paint, plus patches and dirt look great.

Thanks Storm

Great idea! Space has always been why I hadn’t built more -135’s. Great solution!

Check out this scratch built 1/35 MH-47 conversion using the Trumpeter kit! Its pretty well done, especially the ramp area

Everything is workable but a little disappointed
Well, you got something at the very least, so that’s good. When you get around to building it be sure to post pictures 👍

Don't worry, the moment one of the smaller one man operations here in the US announces one, ResKit will "magically" have one in development........
Talked about it, no one sent references, so I let it drop off the list.
I’ll tell you what, Dave. You commit to producing a set and I’ll get you references!
All the references you can stand!

I eventually got one from him but it was an experience for sure. Never managed to get any instructions for the Italeri kit conversion.
I’m glad it worked out for you, guy!
You’re one of the lucky few apparently. It’s unfortunate too since it looked like a promising set. Without giving this guy too much undeserved credit, I’m curious as to how it looks in hand?
P.S. I saw your location and couldn’t help myself to extend a “guy” greeting, lol! I worked at Logan for two years and probably heard it a million times! -
Now that's impressive!

Those are pretty solid attempts, they look sweet in the camo too.
It’s frustrating the void hasn’t been filled yet, we’re not getting any younger. The closest we’ve seen was a guy down in Mexico posted a bunch of pictures here a couple years ago of a resin G conversion kit he was working on with radar nose and enlarged fuel tanks. It seemed shady but I gambled and sent him $105 for a set.
Haven't heard from him since.

I wasn't aware of the Mike model color change. They all still look carc to me. I wouldn't mind seeing a mike model in the hook tan.
Tim
That’s correct, Mikes never went to the light sage green. I was pointing out that the F Chinooks and M Blackhawks were fielded around the same time but big Army decided against changing Mikes for reasons only known to them.
Honestly, seeing one in light sage would be pretty fire though

Did any of the AM companies ever get round to manufacturing a set of big sponsons for the CH-47 in 1/48?
I’ve been watching for years and still nobody is willing to do it. I approached Reskit earlier this year about doing an MH conversion, which would include the larger fuel tanks, and they basically said there’s not a big enough market for one. Now I’m obviously biased but I have a hard time believing there’s no market. I know we’d all buy several of them to build and stash away but……..

On a paint mule or test sheet of styrene, paint the same as this project and test adding just odorless mineral spirit. You can add maybe burnt sienna oil point to the mix. To change up the spots and see how that looks.I’m gonna experiment with that. Maybe layered oils like you suggested. I’ve got the Hobby Boss -47 on the bench right now. I’d like to paint it up similar to this, another “dirty D”.
Thanks Tank! -

Look really really good!
On a side note, why are the hooks painted with that tan color and not the carc?
Tim
I believe big Army was trying to find a camo color suitable for the Middle East AND Europe when they fielded the F model. Why weren’t new build Blackhawk Mike’s the same color you ask? Again, Big Army🤷♂️
Me personally, I hate the “baby sh*t green” color, I could never get used to it. Fortunately it looks like the block II F-model Chinooks are coming from Boeing painted the old CARC green again.

I was trying to get away from the usual pre-shaded panel lines look we all use regularly. I feel like I pulled off the correct colors for sun faded and oil soaked CARC but I feel like I’m missing some depth. Not sure really how to get that, maybe some filters of some sort?

It's been a while since anyone posted something "Hooker"ish so I figured I'd post my rendition of a dirty D. It's the Italeri boxing of the F back dated to D.
I tried some different painting and weathering techniques to achieve a worn late 90's Hook, built for a former crew dog I served with in Savannah. Hope you guys like it.

Thank guys, has anyone used the decals and had the same issues ???
Not this particular sheet, but yes, I've had this happen to older decals. As Phantom and Tank suggest, use a decal film coat to re-establish the carrier film. They'll be very fragile even with the new coat but they'll at least be usable.

Dang, that looks sweet. Well done!

Nice builds! Well done

MA ANG F-106's rule.....I built the old Monogram kit back in the day and used the Bare Metal decals...It was for ana rticel fro SAMI magazine.
Are you doing the Monogram or Trumpy kit??
Very cool Scorvi!
I’m building the old Revell kit. AFammo65 was kind enough to send me the Bare Metal decals.
I’m in the process of building all the Revell Century series from the F-100 through F-106 in sequential order. I just finished the F-102 last night so it’s on to the F-104 today.
Im also trying to maintain New England based schemes where possible. The F-101 was done in MAINEiacs markings, the -102 in Green Mountain Boys and the -106 eventually in Mass ANG.
