  1. Caracal has a SAC era G/H sheet coming out in April but he hasn’t released any profiles yet. Something to keep an eye on.
  2. Ask and you shall receive! Kursad comes through again!
  3. Nothing official but MC mentioned in a messenger session they were unhappy with the current tooling and needed revised molds for the D. He also mentioned this evening the G correction sets are in production now and need more time since they sold so many kits. I try to pass on as much info as possible.
  4. Thanks Dutch but I’m just a modeler like you. Initially I poo poo’d this kit like everyone else but quickly realized that the only way to get a better kit was to approach MC. I found them to be receptive so I gathered a group to try and assist where we could. While it’s certainly not 100% fixed it’s way better then it was. And if nothing else comes of this at least MC listened to the Buff fans and decided there were too many errors and that the D will be a complete new-tool kit. So my suggestion would be to go over to the D thread and add all the options we feel need impr
  5. Here are the new strakelets and gun parts. MC says they are in mass production now and should start going out soon.
  6. I passed this on to MC about your broken parts, he replied that future releases will be packaged better. Also, did you have to pay $15 shipping on both pre-ordered correction sets? I’d think that $15 would cover both sets shipped in the same package. I’d reach out to MC if I were you, maybe they could fix it if that’s the case. As for the status of the correction set, they haven’t gotten back to me on my request for photos of the tail gun test shot. They did send some of the early G tail gun but none of the late G update tail.
  7. Similar to the F-14, when the engines are shut down one at a time, one nozzle will be fully closed and the other fully open.
  8. It’s really not that bad. If you concentrate on the canopy, and inlets (longer spike) then rescribe the closed bomb bay it will look really nice. Maybe throw on new exhausts too but it builds into a nice model. The panel lines and riveting make it easy to weather and stand out, the Academy kit is really soft on details in that regard. And to just to be clear, only the first FB had the TPI inlets like previously mentioned, all subsequent had TPII. The blow-in doors were closed with engines off or in actual flight. That’s what @ElectroSoldier was getting at when he mentioned that
  9. I built the HB FB-111 kit last year and I don’t remember the splitter plates, both types may be included but mine was built OOB with no splitters. The only issue with the intakes was the spike was too short for an FB. It wasn’t really noticeable so I left it as is. My time was spent fixing the canopy which in my opinion was a deal breaker if not corrected with a squadron canopy. And the bomb bay doors had to be rescribed and split at the correct angles. The Caracal intake RAM panel decals also dress up the intakes nicely. But if trying to adapt the Dmold intakes to the HB kit
  10. That’s good to hear about the sink marks, maybe the reviewed kit was part of a bad batch. As for the correction set, the G nose is obviously ready, the strakelets test shot was last week and the revised tail gun test shot was scheduled for this week. I haven’t heard back yet weather it took place or not. MC said once everything was finalized the set could be brought to market in 30 days. He also mentioned several ways to acquire a set. Sets will be sent to original venders so you can get one through the store you bought the kit. Direct from Modelcollect and lastly a link via Facebook
  11. It seems MC has taken notice of the feed back on its G and H releases. While they tried to fix the major issues they feel a complete new tool D with updated molds, with a targeted release of late 2019, would be wise. This is simply speculation on my part but I think they see the D release as their crown jewel and want to get it right. I feel they underestimated the interest level and potential market, which in a way was good because they can invest the unexpected proceeds of the G and H kits into the D. MC wouldn’t get into specifics but the flash and sink marks might
  12. I agree. I wonder if you could build it folded, not sure if it would look right though. Side note, looks like BD mixed up the vertical stabilizers when they build it.
  13. Here they are fitted to the G boxing. The fit looks pretty good. I asked MC about the air scoop on the outboard leading edge missing and he mentioned it was a limitation of the molds, he didn’t elaborate. I surmise that due to how thin the parts are in that area that may be flash or short shots were problematic, just guessing really. Either way it shouldn’t be hard to cut out the inlet. Edit; looking at references again and it looks like the scoop actually may fall outside the strakelet. So once its blended in the opening would be cut out on the wing leading edge.
  14. BlackDog just released these Quails and Hound Dogs in 1/72. http://www.blackdog.cz/a72.html
  15. It was part of the START treaty to help identify cruise missile capable Buffs. They were added so Soviet spy satellites could differentiate the two from above.
  16. Strakelet test shots for the G correction set.
  17. It would be cool but from what I’ve read the wrinkles change direction depending on the stress on the airframe ie; on the ground or in the air. It may limit some modelers, not me but probably some.
  18. The G kit was released with an overly bulbous nose, missing strakelets and a D tail gun. There are other smaller issues with the kit, none are perfect, but MC decided to listen and agreed to produce a correction set for the largest issues. New nose, strakelets and Late G tail gun are included. The strakelets had to be redesigned 3 times which is delaying the production of the set.
  19. They’re doing the strakelet test shots now. If I recall correctly once they come back and are approved the kits can be ready to ship in as little as 30 days. Hopefully MC will chime in here.
  20. They are doing an early H also and all the releases will have the dropped flaps as an option.
  21. Hopefully MC will chime in but the last word was the G correction set is going to production and the “Broken Arrow G” test shots just got back. I do know the D is rumored to have 108 mk117 bombs included and much of the CAD drawings are in work but I really don’t know a specific release date.

  23. 1) Yes, the H in stores has the corrected parts, the G doesn’t and won’t until they re-pop the kit in a couple years. 2) Yes, Cutting Edge made a sheet https://www.usaf-sig.org/index.php/references/reviews/118-decal-reviews/12-cutting-edge-ced72213-b-52s-6 But I’m not sure of the weapons load. Loring G’s were Harpoon capable but I’m not sure if the H was at that time.
