  1. Are there examples of mixed loadout on F-4 Phantom? I was wondering if a Multiple Ejection Rack on one outboard pylon and a fuel tank on another is a possible, operation loadout.
  2. Lol. I like your classification of real white and pure white. Tamiya decals are sometimes bad. But as someone said, there's a robust presence of aftermarket decals and you can buy good extremely good quality decals. My issue with Tamiya is their decal seat belt. It looks so bad no matter which kit it is. Sometimes, there is no escape from using their decals and you know how thick and unwieldy they are when you apply those small decals on weapons and pylons. Also I have to say, seeing high quality, slide molded weapons in recent Chinese kits, Tamiya weapons have starte
  3. Hands down. Tamiya kit. Hasegawa is 80s kit and its details is not good at all compared to Tamiya.
  4. Yes, no need to thin them. But as they age, they gradually dry out so need to add thinner.
  5. Since Testor's has closed its shop, I want to know if any hobby store still has the metalizer thinner in stock. If not, then which enamel thinner I can use? I have tried Testor's regular enamel thinner and it congeals the paint. So my question is that if I cant find metalizer thinner, which thinner can I use for Testor's metalizer enamels?
  6. I got mine yesterday and its a typical Tamiya high quality out of the box. Beautiful surface detail, high quality instructions & packaging. I know it will be a joy to build too, like all Tamiya kits. Looking forward now to put it together.
  7. I remember you did a review of Italeri Lightning. Its looks nice in the video. How does Tamiya kit compare to Italeri?
  8. Does @gtypecanare represent Tamiya here? Can he confirm the reason for this discontinuation?
  9. Confirmed by HLJ it has been discontinued. Which is rather strange! A kit released a year ago is discontinued while Tamiya kits from mid 90s are still available.
  10. HLJ site states F-4B is discontinued. Could this be true? https://www.hlj.com/1-48-scale-mcdonnell-douglas-f-4b-phantom-ii-tam61121
  11. The kit details look unusually sharp. If you look at the pilot figure, it looks a lot more well sculpted than any of the other Tamiya kits. Very close to resin figures. This kit will be a joy to build.
  12. Just amazing! The modular engineering and the fit. I dont think presenter applied any glue. It just shows how good the fit is.
  13. This is so true. I dont have all Tamiya kits, just a few. I can tell looking at their sprues, Tamiya had future versions in plans but those versions never materialized. Like a jilted lover ( 🙂 ) , the first painful instance of kit that could have been that comes to mind is their superb F-16. The kit even has two sets of seat belts is their F-16 photo etch set. But they never released a 2 seater. Similarly, Challenger kit has NATO version parts but never a new Challenger kit. F-35 also seems to be molded in a way to accommodate a new version, may be B or C. But its Tamiya. You neve
  14. I wont keep any hopes for new versions. Its Tamiya. You cant predict 🙂
  15. Typical Tamiya quality. Nothing to add here. The only thing strange is that usually its a white box first. But this time they have released the final product.
  16. I hope people from Meng read these forums and the decals in this release are not a horror show they have in their Hornet kits.
  17. So many spelling mistakes. Decal 59 is not even english! Its either lazy or just not enough research. I think AMK included a decal sheet from third party for its F-14. Meng could have gone the same path. Such an important product feature lacking this basic research reflects very badly on the company.
  18. Its a rumor only. I have heard the delayed kit is Fw-190 in 1/32.
  19. In the past few releases, I have noticed Tamiya new kit shows up in Canadian stores before Japan. I guess they release the kits in North America first. But its just a guess. 🙂
  20. Very nice new images on the Tamiya link. I wonder why two canopies?
  21. I have been looking for this sheet for years. If anyone has it and willing to sell, please let me know
  22. F-18 loadout always seem to be splayed outwards. Is it an illusion due to the shape of the aircraft? How does that hamper or supplement aerodynamics of the aircraft?
  23. The question was because scalemates site seems to show a lineage between this kit and recently released Italeri F-35B. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-61124-lockheed-martin-f-35a-lightning-ii--1442862 Thats confusing.
