  1. You are right. But it all comes down to cockpit! For a long time i could not decide if i should have the pilot in it or not. That procrastination held me back form putting the wings and the fuselage together. I think this kit's cockpit is even better detailed than Spitfire IX's.
  2. The wings Sorry guys, i have accidentally deleted pictures which could have shown all the missing steps. The red roundels were painted first using Tamiya Gloss red. Using a circle cutter, the decal paper was used to cover the red area of the roundel. For the undersides, Gunze H61 was used. Before that, the details were pre shaded with Nato Black. The upper sides were painted Tamiya IJN Green 2. To make the different shades of green, Tamiya Buff, Yellow Green and Gunze Hemp were used. But before painting upper sides green, the wings and fuselage were painted fla aluminum and t
  3. Wow!! Check this beauty out on Hobby Search http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10144924
  4. i have a few built up kits from over a decade ago. I have not opened them and have long removed them from display. Since i don't have much space and new and exciting kits keep coming up, I need your suggestions as to what should i do with them? Garbage or is there a better alternative?
  5. Painted the Engine cowl Gunze Tire Black. But first, Flat aluminum was sprayed as a base coat and then sealed with Testor's Semi Gloss varnish. Once dry, the paint surface was gently sanded with a fine sandpaper in a pattern to reveal the metallic paint underneath. To reveal the fine rivet detail, Mig's Light Dust powder was brushed on and excess powder wiped off. This was done in several passes so that the powder could deposit in the rivet details.
  6. I have the two wing drop tanks unassembled. I have the USAF version kit no. 61073. Send me email at stalal@rogers.com.
  7. Thats unfortunate. But if nothing works, you could try Hobbico who is a Hasegawa agent for North America or try Hobby Link Japan. All the best :)
  8. I m currently building Tamiya Zero which is a 2007 re-issue of the 2001 kit. This release contains metal gun barrels and boxing to fit the finished kit in the box. First off the cockpit. Used Tamiya Cockpit Green color for inside and to pick details, i used flat back or NATO black. For scratches its Chrome Silver. Used black oil paint around the dials.
  9. I m looking for this detail set and if anyone wishes to sell it, please contact me. Could have bought it at Hannants but trying to minimize expense after paying a hefty price for the Hasegawa kit.
  10. i have two HARMs from a damaged CJ kit in 1/48. I dont remember if i have them assembled or not. Will let you know. Do you also need their decals?
  11. I m looking for Hasegawa 1/48 Westland Sea King AEW. Mk.II A, kit number 09863. If someone has it and would like to sell it, please let me know. My contact is stalal@rogers.com.
  12. If you could wait, i dont know how long it will be, but i read somewhere this month that MRC is going to issue all Accurate Miniatures kits soon. Edit : http://www.modelrectifier.com/all-brands/Accurate-Miniatures.asp
  13. So its settled that the kit should be Monogram. Is there anyone offering C-Nite TSU and laser detector? Does the FLIR conversion from Contrail cover that?
  14. i want to build this one and i m wondering if Revell/Monogram will cover this. Or what after markets parts will I need to complete this kit accurately. http://www.defence.pk/gallery/ah-1f-cobra/p8527-pak-army-cobra.html
  15. So it is Revell or Monogram only. Both of them have raised panel lines, right?
  16. Is Fujimi AH-1 in 48 scale any better?
  17. If i want to build a 1/48 scale AH-1F Cobra, which will be a good kit to buy? Is Revell kit same as Monogram kit? What after-market alternatives do I have? Thanks
  18. i have 3 Tamiya 1/48 F16CJs and 3 Tamiya Bf109Es. I love both the kits.
  19. I have been buying from them since 2007. Every transaction went very well. Not only their service, their prices are also very good.
  20. i do think there is a general decline in the hobby. The reason i see is that it needs a lot of patience and imaginative thinking. When i see my nephews who are in the age when i first starting building kits, they are more interested in video games, consoles and gadgets. My attempts in getting them interested in this hobby has miserably failed. Our young dont seem to have the patience that we had. Seeing this, i dont see much of a future for this hobby. I could be wrong but I m sharing only my experience.
  21. Which WWI plane was best looking? I would like Wingnut Wings to make that. As you might have guessed, i m not a follower of WWI planes. In fact, i m afraid of making one. The Wingnut Wings kit have excited me very much but i dont know if i will ever buy one.
