  1. Wash is done, next up is some light touches with pastels, then on to the bits and pieces before the dull coat final weathering. More to follow........ Bill
  2. I forgot to take pictures of the cockpit before I put it in, so they are a little hard to see, but it's pretty basic anyway. More to follow.......... Bill
  3. navsource.org is pretty spectacular. It would be a good starting point at least
  4. Stencil data on top is finished. Later today I'll finish the bottom, then it's on to washes and dirtying it up. More to follow........... Bill
  5. I got it from a friend who was able to have Mr Römm sign it back in the 80's
  6. I'm in with a 190, I'll be building Oskar 'Ossi' Römms aircraft from February to March of '45 while a Gruppenkommandeur IV/JG 3. During this time he was credited with two IL-2, 2 P-39's, an LaGG-3, and a Yak-3. To make this a little more interesting, I have an Ace of Spades with his signature on it, so I'll be making a nice display base for the plane and place the card and a brass name plate with it. More to follow.......... Bill
  7. The big markings are on, I don't feel like messing with stencil data tonight. More to follow......... Bill
  8. Yeah, I go out of town a lot, and when I come home I have to balance between what I NEED to do, and what I want to do, so models take a little longer sometimes. Plus I'm building a B-17 for a diorama at the aviation museum my model club meets at, and I'm trying to finish that before the next meeting. Decals are going on the Spit tonight, at least some of them. Bill
  9. Got the thing painted. I need to do a little touch up with the middle stone, nothing major. Later today I'm going to start shooting it with future, so this week decals should be going on. More to follow...... Bill
  10. Alright, after a little over a month out of town, I'm back, and work has resumed. I'm getting ready to give it a light wash with soap and water, and can start painting this weekend. More to follow........ Bill
  11. Are ICMs decals worth trying to use or should I go for aftermarket. The one ICM kit I've built, the decals were so brittle they shattered when they hit water, and I've read many reviews that say the same thing. I want to build Hans Marsilles' Yellow 14, but am wondering if I should order AM markings before I start. Bill
  12. Depends on the loadout, if the weight is high enough, (52 or 55,000, I can't remember) they will shoot in AB
  13. All aircraft go to full power when they hit deck, in case they miss the wires, they can go around again.
  14. I could be wrong, but isn't Dr. Strangelove a witty satire? Never mind the Major Kong riding the bomb, the writing is WAY off.
  15. The model club I'm in meets at the museum, had a booth at the show, I was looking forward to bringing some of my stuff in to display, but unfortunately, I had to be out of town, bummer. Its always a cool show.
  16. I don't think anyone is ever at the top, no matter what the subject might be. No matter how good you are, you have to be humble enough to realize there is always more to learn, more practice at, and more to be improved on. Just accept mistakes and never stop learning. No one is perfect, but if you always strive to be perfect, the results usually turn out being pretty good.
  17. They are both gloss white
  18. I was thinking the exact same thing, it sounds like we are playing Civ II
  19. We're clearly talking about different lights, the anti collision lights are the strobes on the vert stabs, that's what I'm talking about.
  20. No, twice for tanker, three for normal flight. Most of the time they never get switched to twice, everyone knows who the tankers are, they get reconfigured all the time, and in a pinch, a tanker can be a fighter........think of it as a fanker.
  21. The anti collision lights on Super Hornets aren't green. They used to be green on the S-3 to make the tanker easily identifiable. For Supers, the strobe light power supply can be switched to blink twice instead of three times to ID the tankers. If there is a picture of a Super with green strobes, I would sincerely like to see it, that would be news to me.
  22. In the Navy, the only time the PT uniform has to be worn is at organized command PT, and our semi annual PFA's. At least in aviation, there isn't a whole lot of time for command structure PT, so they hardly get worn. A lot of sailors wear them to workout any way, since they have them, why mess up your personal stuff. Myself, and most people I go to the gym with wear our own stuff, its more comfortable I think. The only belts we have are for moving aircraft, and they usually get thrown over a shoulder, and aren't used on the ship.
  23. A good New Belgium IPA always hits the spot, or Hoffbrau.
  24. It has legs!!!!! Of course, there is still some clean up to do, then PE, then paint, but this is 5 steps closer to rigging. Unfortunately, I'm going out of town tomorrow for a littl over a month. All I can take with me is my civil war and WWII miniatures to paint, so this will come to a stop. Thanks for looking in for now though. More to follow........ Bill
