  1. It was a little bit hectic but still manageable with a lot of fun , the obvious language barrier I was so much afraid of didn't prevent me from enjoying my stay . And thanks to your previous MAKS reports and a lot of questions on TripAdvisor , I knew well in advance what to expect. Google Maps come in handy too when you are in a country where there are no signages in English.

Fortunately once you understand how the Metro works , it is quite easy to get around the city.

  2. It's never too early to be ready for such an event ! :woot.gif:

I can't wait to attend the show again , I still look at these pictures from time to time to remember the crazy week I spent in Moscow in 2011.

Now that I've gained valuable experience from the previous edition , I know what deserved to be seen/visited again :

    - Khodynka ( even if there is only one Foxbat still left by August :)

    - Monino again

    - Kubinka tank museum (missed that one in 2011)

    - Space museum ( missed it too )

As for the airshow itself , I will attend it on the last business day for visiting the static display , and on Thursday/Sunday from the media platform (hope it will be still available and that the organization will improve )

Note that the previously announced dates (13-18 August) have been changed last week to 27 Aug-1 Sep ( dunno why...)

  3. Salut Stephane,

the Zaporozhye aircraft repair plant in Ukraine where the algerian Foxbats used to be overhauled stopped working on the MiG-25 02 months ago ,and the last spare parts boxes have been sent to Algeria ,so indeed the algerians will soon put an end to their Foxbats flights.

I believe the AAF has only 4 RB aircrafts still airworthy (FG-34 , FG-39 , FG-62 and FG-79) along with a dozen PD/PDS that were overhauled in 2009-2011.

For a country without satellite capabilities , the use of high-altitude "recce" assets like the MiG-25RB/Rbsh can be easily justified. As for the interceptors I guess that it's only a matter of "prestige" for the algerian air force.

  4. Meanwhile, if you have top shots of T-10-20, you are free to email them to me...

    All I got is here:

On (E-266M) with bort number 710-Blue world records have been set to a height of 25 000, 30 000, 35 000 meters (2 min 32.2 sec, 3 min 9.85 sec, 4 min 11.7 sec). July 22, 1977 A.Fedotov set an absolute world record by entering the height 37.800 meters (!) loaded with 2000 kg. For machines with air-breathing engines, this record has not been surpassed to this day.

Thank for the info, didn't realize that I was seating in a legend that day :woot.gif:
