  1. thanks for all the kind words everyone. This was the first time I tried to weather an aircraft to this degree and next time I think I will go a little lighter on the fading. but all in all I am very happy with this build. and Stevehnz thanks :> I'm kinda partial to the wildcat myself.. got another navy aircraft in the stash, I may go for it soon. and to Piano Guy, your skills are prob already as good as mine, esp with aircraft. The wildcat is only my 7th aircraft build, I lucked out in that my weathering and pigment fading came out so good... (I mostly build ground huggers)..
  2. howdy again Here are a couple of new pics of my 1/48 Tamiya F4F-4 Wildcat. I cleared up the glass with thinner on a q-tip and then coated it with some future. I mixed up another batch of faded basecolor and very carefully in severaly very light applications resprayed the "fingerprint" on the left wing star until it blended in with the rest of the fading.. The light part on the wing was very hard to see on the model, the photo brought it out.. LOL thanks for the feedback everyone. I really enjoyed this build. Thanks all. Delbert
  3. howdy everyone.. finished up the F4F-4 Wildcat, Tamiya kit in 1/48 scale. here are some photos, I don't do a lot of aircraft so I tried a few new things for this build and just to show i'm not afraid of closeups.. Honest critiques always welcomed.. :> Delby
  4. Howdy Everyone. I've got a Mosquito FB Mk. VI in my stash I'm planning to build sometime down the line, and because I really like this aircraft, I'm going to get some detail kits and try and do it up in style. What I'm wondering is what doe those out there with experience in these after market kits think are the best upgrades, and why.. and any suggestions on good aftermarket decals.. thank you. Delby
  5. just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my last finished project.. its a Revell-Monogram kit and the fit wasn't that great at the cockpit.. The colors are RLM 82 Lichtgrun and RLM 81 Braunviolett which my color reference's say both are Late-war Camouflage colors.. over RLM76. I wasn't all that happy with the fit of some of the kit, but I felt I learned a lot on using my airbursh.. (first model I've done with my Renegade velocity) comments welcome later Delby
  6. Howdy This is Tamiya's Wildcat kit I started a few months ago. work has been stoped on it the last couple of months but I plan to restart soon. this is a couple of photos of the completed cockpit. the seat belts are scratch built out of wire and masking tape. In the final build the cockpit will be closed so the details prob won't be all that visible but as always I'm a curious sort and wonder what yall might think of the work so far... comments welcome.. Delby
  7. Hi there Sean I have used a Badger 360 for a number of years and I love the gravity feed my main gripe was that the cup is so small. Anyways I saw this and thought I'd send you a link. Making your own gravity feed cups for a Badger 360 and yes it is on my website but this really isn't a shameless plug.. laters. Delbert
  8. howdy all.. I have a Wildcat i'm going to start back up on in a week and was wondering if anyone had a good way to make those covers they glued on the fighters wings mounted guns. thanks in advance Delbert
  9. howdy... and wondered when someone would notice... didn't know about the white bands. as for the yellow, I didn't want to use the decals and I wasn't sure my painting skills were up to airbrushing them yet so I let it go. (this is my 5th aircraft.) As for the mission/kill marking's, that is my own fault. I wanted to repaint the exhausts better and I used a piece of tamiya masking tape and it pulled my decals right off the side.. never happened before. I had set them with solveset and coated them with future, anyways I pieced together the stuff you see by cutting up some of the other
  10. howdy. If you find the craft store circle template too large or unweildy go to a tool or hardware store and pick up whats called a "Drill Gauge" Its basicly a peice of plastic or metal with rows of holes to size your Drill bits. mine is plastic cost me about a buck at harbor freight if I remember right and has holes sized 1/2 to 1/16th... i.e. 12.7 mm to 1.59 mm I use mine mostly for painting Wheels, both aircraft and armor. 11. Hello everyone. I've been a long time lurker here, but I've never posted anything yet. I finished this kit the other day and I think its my best effort to date on an aircraft. I typicaly do mostly armor. anyways here are a few pic's, I know there are a few area's I need to improve on, but each model is a learning experience. comments and suggestions always welcome.. Tamiya's RAF North American Mustang III in 1/48 scale. The Model is Airbrushed with Model Master Enamals. RAF Dark Green and RAF Ocean Grey over RAF Medium Sea Grey. and I used an oil wash on the panel lines.
