  1. Living out on the West Coast of the US, it was late afternoon when everything began. I was 10 at the time, and I went to my grandparents' house every day after school. My grandma was watching one of her afternoon talk shows, and I was outside playing when the phone rang. It was my grandfather calling us from his work (which he NEVER did) to tell us that the war had started and to put on the news if we hadn't already.
  2. I'm definitely going to be in for this. I showed it to the family and asked them get me a couple shirts for Christmas, and they were enthusiastic about getting to support the cause as well.
  3. I don't have a problem with the parents loading up their kids and coming to another neighborhood (our neighborhood is usually the "another neighborhood" they choose to go to), I just have a problem with the parents that won't get out of the van and walk with the kids. Don't be lazy. That's cheating, dammit!
  4. We were hopping here, about 100-120 kids in about an hour to an hour and a half, but it started to rain (as the weather report had predicted) and that basically shut it down. Had about 5 or 6 that braved the rain.
  5. Steve...she WILL beat this. Hang in there and stay strong...definitely will be keeping you all in my thoughts.
  6. The "sonic boom" this thing made was such a letdown! I heard it, but it wasn't much louder than a neighbor slamming their car door too loud. I was actually still kind of woozy-groggy from sleeping (yes, I'm a night owl, so 0920 is early to me), and heard my window rattle a little bit. I remember thinking "I bet that was the X-37," then I glanced at my clock. When I was actually "all there", I didn't remember whether I had actually heard the sonic boom, or if I was dreaming it. I asked my mom if she heard it, and she said "no," then I got a text from a buddy of mine that works out there saying
  7. ^ THIS (except I use the Tamiya white primer in the rattle can. I can usually getgood coverage in 2 to 3 mist coats.)
  8. Anybody headed to MCAS Miramar in a few weeks? My uncle, a couple of my friends, and I are going to head down there. We'll be rolling in on Thursday evening, hitting up the Friday and Saturday shows, and bugging out on Sunday morning. Most likely getting either Semper Fi Chalet or Flight Deck Chalet tickets for both days as well. It's a tradition, baby! I was royally annoyed at sequestration last year, but I'm so damn happy to be going back! In 2012, we did the Saturday twilight/night show, but arriving at the flightline at around 0930 and not getting back to our hotel room until almost midni
  9. That's awesome! Were you ever on board during an SR-71 refueling?
  10. I wish they'd re-tool it and correct the inaccuracies. I'd definitely be interested in building one.
  11. Wouldn't the 1:72 Shuttle stack or the 1:96 Saturn V be bigger?
  12. The NFC West is going to be super stacked this year, and I can't wait! I already have a $20 bet going with a couple of 49er fans on the SWAT team at my dad's work that my Rams will either tie or have more wins than them. The Seahawks still concern me, though. Speaking of which, am I the only one that kind of feels bad for Cardinal fans? They're kind of the forgotten team in that division.
  13. Yeah, what Ken said. The only preseason games you'll get without having NFL Network are going to be your local team's game, or a nationally televised game.
  14. I've got an old boom box-type radio by my workbench, so it's whatever radio station I'm in the mood for - 96.7 FM is playing (stuff like Coldplay, Pink, Imagine Dragons, OneRepublic), 94.5 FM (stuff like 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G., Outkast, Usher), or 99.1 FM (stuff like Van Halen, Godsmack, AC/DC, Metallica). During basketball season, I'll take my laptop out and keep an eye on a streaming feed of the Laker game.
  15. If we go early 2015 on the start, I'd be inclined to toss my hat in the ring. I've got a 1:72 Italeri KC-135R as well as their 1:48 C-130J lying around over at my Grandma's house (because I ran out of storage room at my place...LOL). I'm sure she'd be glad to get at least one of them out of her guest bedroom closet :D
  16. I know exactly where you're talking about. It really is a blast to sit there and watch flight ops. Hornets were doing FCLP when I was there. It was awesome!
