  1. Here it is making the turn to the south, headed downrange.
  2. Another shot of it sitting on the pad. You don't really get an idea of the size of that monster from these pictures - but lets just say it's very large, to say the least B).
  3. Here is some pictures of the last Titan IV rocket launch. The Titan program has been part of the United States for around 50 years, from ICBMs to space launch vehcles. The Titan program meant a lot to me because my grandpa worked on it for many years. It was sad to see this era end, but it was a thrill to watch her go out with a bang (well...rumble). I was at the viewing site about 3 to 4 miles from the pad. This shot was taken probably about an hour or so before launch.
  4. Just wondering if there'll be any ARCers at the Mugu Airshow on 22 and 23 Oct. (besides Mike5401 - I know he'll be there). I'll be headed there on Saturday...been over 4 years since I last saw the T'Birds or the Blues - I can't wait!!!! Hey...if any of y'all are going and have an ARC shirt, wear it...I'll be wearing mine !
  5. Just got the 1/48 Monogram monster. Actually its an upcoming Christmas present that I accidentally (I SWEAR, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT ) saw when I was looking out the window when she came home from town after shopping trip the other day. Can't wait to get it started.
  6. The Testors big 1/48 SR-71. Looks like a pretty intimidating build .
  7. Look up "lack of detail" in the dictionary, and you'll see a picture of the cockpit seat found in the Testor's U-2 kit...absolutely horrendous. So, I tried to spruce it up a bit. I still have a bit of sanding to do, and I have to add seat belts and paint it, but this is my start. I took a (very) thin piece of foam I had, and tried to fashion some sort of seat cushion for this thing. Please give me input. Do you like it? Hate it? Is there anything I could add to it or do differently? Thanks for looking .
  8. And last one! Once again, thanks for looking :D!
  9. Well, got the basic frame finished...a few more seams to fill & sand, and need to finish the intakes, then comes the landing gear.
  10. Cool! Hey, send 'em up here more often...it sure would be nice to have some interesting air traffic around here . C-130s, C-5s, and C-17s once or twice a month just aren't enough for me .
  11. Yup, looked a exactly like that, except it was a bit further away :P. Like I said, I don't get to see this too often, so it was pretty exciting . I went inside and told my mom about it, and know what her exact words were? "what the hell is an E-2" .
  12. Here's the fuselage freshly glued together. Tomorrow I'll remove the rubber bands and clamps and begin sanding away the seams. Thanks for looking !!!
  13. Further up the thread, there's pics of the right side speedbrake well that I detailed. This is the left side. According to my reference pics, the left side has far less "plumbing" than the right.
  14. Here's an overhead shot of the wings. This thing's gonna have a HUGE wingspan!
  15. Another shot of the "pogos" for the wingtips.
  16. Kyle, Thanks for the input. Since I'm not at all familiar with the U-2 (hey, it's not a Tomcat  ) , aside from the fact that it is a high-altitude recon a/c. I'm not really sure what the "sugar scoop" is that you are referring to, and I'm also not too familiar with the cockpit inner shroud, either. The gear wells - yes, I'm going to try and spruce those up a bit. The only reference pics I was able to find were not really as good as I was looking for, so I'm kind of using my imagination a little bit when it comes to adding detail to this, as you correctly called it, simply detailed
  17. I think the Navy wants their Hornet back when you finish taking pics :D. Beautiful, stunning, incredible, sensational, outstanding, gorgeous, job  ;) .
