  1. .jar is a Java ARchive. In other words a Java program. PKZIP is thinking of it as a normal archive. Open the .jar with Java and it should run fine. Right click -> Open With -> Choose default program -> C: -> Program Files -> Java -> jre[version number] -> bin -> Java. You're probably better off uninstalling PKZIP and reinstalling it, but choosing the file associations. Depending on what you need from it, I would recommend 7zip as it is free and you get to choose the file associations on installation.
  2. Right click on the file -> Open With -> whatever program you need. If the program is not listed, click on Choose default program and find it manually. There are numerous ways to change file defaults. There is no need to do a system restore. The last resort in this case would be to uninstall PKZIP. You should be able to do a custom install of it where you can choose what file types you want to associate with PKZIP, rather than a full install where it does the associations itself.

  5. What ratio should I use of Tamiya thinner or 91% isopropanol to thin Tamiya acrylics in order to brush paint them over large surfaces? How much gel retarder should I add? How many coats should it take for full coverage?
  6. Does anyone know where I can find good pictures of a KM-1M ejection seat, preferably pulled from a plane and pictures of the back of the seat. It's for a MiG-23ML.
  7. Most BIOS do not allow you the option to book from an external Hard Disk. You would most likely have to dual boot on the existing Disk, which is a major pain in the *** with Windows since it doesn't come with any sort of boot loader, or buy a larger Hard Disk to dual boot on. Also, some desktop motherboards support a second Hard Disk. If you are using a 32-bit OS, does your computer even have enough RAM to utilize a 64-bit OS? Generally if your computer comes with a 32-bit OS, it also only comes with up to the maximum RAM it can utilize. They wouldn't add RAM that the computer couldn't u

  10. You need a primer under Vallejo paints.
  11. Acrylics can easily be stripped using Windex, Simple Green, and several other things. Tamiya's spray paint are strong lacquers and hard to strip. I've heard that Tamiya's own lacquer thinner will strip them without damaging the plastic. DO NOT use a hardware variety lacquer thinner. It can melt plastic.

  18. I have some 1/48 WWII decals and accessories I'd like to add to the box if anyone is interested. I don't want to take anything from the box, just send the stuff to someone who can add it to the box. Also, instead of mailing the kits to every person, you may want to put something representative of the kit in the box with whom to contact, and then they can ship the kit out to the person who wants it.
