  1. Part 2 is now in stock and available for purchase at www.AOAdecals.com Part 2 is printed by Microscale, Part 1 and the new A-6 stencil sheet are printed by Cartograf and should be in soon so I've also enabled pre-ordering of those two.
  2. Click on the link in his post, it goes to this VA-35 example:
  3. Here's another quick example of practice bombs (in this case snakeeyes) along with a buddy pod: https://www.facebook.com/AOAdecals
  4. That full 30 load is a very early photo of one of the prototypes. You'll find the operational ones loaded with 5 instead of 6 for the increased clearance.
  5. I've edited original post to add the part 2 details that I forgot to upload a few weeks ago.
  6. First of hopefully more, here's a new "budget" minded sheet of the high viz period. This new release, 32-029, is another 1/32 A-6A sheet and continues focus on VMA(AW)-533 Hawks. The first AOA 1/32 sheet (32-001) included their three overall schemes used during their Vietnam War deployments (1967-69 at Chu Lai and 1972-73 at Nam Phong), and another earlier sheet (32-003) included their Desert Storm scheme. This new sheet 32-029 expands that coverage to include some of the schemes in the early to mid-1970s at MCAS Iwakuni, Japan. Similar to the earlier 1/32 F-4 sheets, t
  7. Yes, the stencils will be available as 32-026 in Sept, or as 32-002 that is available now.
  8. ya and the outer pylon is beefed up since it has part of wingfold mechanism. To clarify too what I said earlier, doing decals for the composite wing schemes are way down on my to-do list even if there is a conversion, as in I'd doubt I'd do any, hopefully others will of course if you do decide to do a set.
  9. Other than the Es I've already released and these new VA-75 ones, I have a few others I'd like to cover but don't want to say at this time. The only ones I'll say no to though are the 90s upgraded composite wing schemes since there's no kit/conversion.
  10. There you go. I've read that while ago but must've forgot about that.
  11. Ideally, yes. When, not sure. 1/48 seems less likely actually than 1/72 in this case considering the abundance of A-6 decals from various decal people already in 1/48 and I know VA-75 has been covered in 1/48 by others, maybe not these exact same ones but similar.
  12. oops, I see I misread your question as "when" not "why". I'm not sure other than like you said blue/yellow were already their insignia colors? Maybe by the early 70s there was less restrictiveness on the official coloring?
  13. After their 1972-73 Vietnam deployment, when exactly in 1973 I'm not sure. There seemed to be switches from the official colors prior to that, I know of at least some other squadrons I've already covered had switched even earlier. VA-196 stayed with the int'l red when they switched to the 5xx series from 4xx in 1969 and stayed they stayed with that color with 5xx of course. VA-65 in 1966 had the 4xx int'l and appropriately changed to green in 1967 when they went to 5xx (and also changed their insignia background), but in 1968 they went back to int'l orange even though they stayed i
  14. Thanks Darren and know I specifically went into the project with the intention to include a tanker and B to take advantage of your conversion sets but unfortunately i had to cut them. Couldn't do it without providing a second sheet that would've added to the cost.
  15. I third the opinion of manufacturers to include profiles, and if posted make them large enough to see. And I'd add my other peeve is not including any date, even approximate, for the schemes, bonus for also rough location. As a result I've always inclued large-ish profiles of all AOA schemes online with dates or at least range as much as possible. And a year or so ago I switched to making them more typical by including profiles on cover as well to make it easier to immediately see.
  16. Here's more 1/32 A-6 Intruder AOA decals sheets. Similar to the previous VA-65 Tigers sheets, this release again only covers one squadron, this time VA-75 Sunday Punchers, spanning Vietnam to Desert Storm: 32-027 (Part 1): Includes two sets of basic schemes, both CAG and line jet schemes included. First pair (A-6A) cover their third and final Vietnam deployment and the next pair (A-6E) cover their more well known postwar white tail scheme. Includes markings for MER identifications as well as fuel tank markings. Also included is a new expanded release of the complete A-6 s
  17. Here's a close-up of a VAL-4 OV-10. I realize it's not "standard" lettering but it's a good example of lettering that shows the lower corners of the "U" were actually rounded even though the U is usually incorrectly depicted/assumed to be standard chamfered format. Looking at low resolution or distant photos, it can be hard to make out what is chamfered and what is rounded.
  18. The A-1E example did have chamfered corners. The low resolution photos make the small chamfers look rounded. It is true the numbers don't follow the "Longbeach" font, as is the case with a lot of the letters/numbers then (even USN/USMC). Many modelers may overlook the fact that all "Navy" lettering is not the same regardless of what the spec says (I've found few actually do/did match). Here's higher resolution, and also the different second "3" where it was touched up showing different thickness and chamfer as the rest.
  19. ALL 1/72 & 1/32 OV-10A Bronco decals are now on sale for this weekend at 20+% off at: www.AOAdecals.com Sale applies to direct purchases only (not applicable to ebay purchases). Prices are marked down on each page; if sale price not shown be sure to refresh/reload the page. (happy father's day!) 1/72 1/32
  20. Years ago CC had discontinued the conversion. I had emailed asking about the OOP set as I was wanting a Seawolf (this was years ago when I asked, well before they ceased operations), if I recall his response was along the line that there was issue with the blades sagging (or warping? Can't remember specific now) and so the set was stopped. If LS reissues the set, hopefully he'll update the set rather than straight repop considering that CC specifically ended the conversation sale for a reason.
  21. As subject states, will pay for either/both of these kit decals. email directly at ziggyfoos@hotmail.com I'm in the US. Thanks, Steve
  22. Thanks. I'm not saying these are perfect by any means but yes the 1/72 kit does have two of these same options (Good Grief! and Super Sow). They're actually not too bad but they're definitely simplified and missing details (even the "!" in Good Grief for some reason). Nose art was pretty short lived. Unfortunately I've not seen much uniqueness with the VNAF gunships so the two offered are basically the same, at least the VNAF AC-119G Shadows carried the "large" s/n's on the nose that set them apart more so than the VNAF AC-119K's I've seen that appeared to have nothing unique on th
  23. BKD and Fly United are actually the same aircraft a couple years apart. For some reason BKD got a lot of photo coverage in 1972. There was also similarly marked Blood __(box, bath?) and Betty Jo and probably some others from that period in 72. Ya as mentioned in my post BKD and the VNAF schemes all had the Hamilton Standard props. I think I saw someone had used 1/48 SBD props.
