  1. Bump. Any progress on this bad boy Tim? -Derek
  2. AWESOME!!!!!!! Can you give us any hints as to what items are in the works and when we might see some of them? Just a ball-park date would be wonderful. I was tempted to start hacking up my 1/144 Revell "G" kit this weekend but with this announcment I will wait! Thank you again for this, I can't wait! -Derek
  3. Looks like some nice stuff in yout BUFF Master Design line. I don't suppose you are planning any 1/144 B-52 stuff are you? I'd just about kill for a "D" or "F" conversion in 1/144 scale. So what do you say?! -Derek
  4. Nice looking work Wiggi! Please put me down for a set of your resin upgrade parts also! I hope you continue to post photos as you work on your B-26K. I do have a question Wigggi. Are the CMK main wheels correct or does one still need to invest in a set of True Details KC-135 wheels? Best, -Derek
  5. Heck yeah! Now you're talking Brian!! Think of all the little decals that you could fit on one sheet. Markings for most B-52s and B-47s wouldn't take up any room at all, especially not in 1/144 scale! ;) Like I said, let me know if you need or want any ideas! -Derek
  6. YES! Let me second some 1/144 decals for the heavies – KC-97G/L; K/B-29; B-52D/F/G/H; B-47B/E to name but a few… I’ve got some ideas and photos but I’m wondering how feasible/popular you think 1/144 scale might be. Thanks for your consideration, -Derek
  7. Larry - is there a set of F-105B drawings at this site? -Derek
  8. Sounds like a plan Ben, I'm looking forward to seeing it. Are you going to rescribe it all?! I too have a 1/48 Monogram Thud but I want to turn mine into a "B" model. I want to do the NJ ANG bird that I posted photos of over in the reference corner thread on the Thud. I am thinking about ordering the C&H Aero conversion for the "B". Have you or anyone seen/used it? Is it worth the $$$? I would need the decal sheet anyway for the NJ ANG squadron markings. I do have the issue of FineScale Modeler that shows a "B" conversion from scratch but the C&H might be a better way to go. A

    Thuds!

Thanks, glad you liked them. I've got lots of pics that I shot of this old girl. A real live Texas Owl had been living in the nose and ammo compartment and there was a ton of corrosive owl droppings and little critter skulls all over the interior. The smell wasn't too pleasant as you can imagine... We gave her a good pressure washing and it helped things inside quite a bit. I can post some more pictures if you want to see them. Just let me know. -Derek
  10. Wiggi, what are you doing (if anything) about the basic kit engines? Did you replace them with something else or use them as is? I've got this kit and plan to get to it at some point... <_< I've got the CMK undercarriage set and need to get the CMK cockpit set or the Eduard cockpit set to correct the cockpit to the correct dual control setup. I really like the B-26K and hope it gets to the top of my "to do" pile soon! -Derek
  11. Neat photos of 283, thanks Darwin for posting them. -Derek
  12. Ben, $25 for a -1? Man, that would have been a steal! Too bad you didn't snag it... So, what kind of F-105 project are you working on? -Derek
  13. Hi Ben, Sorry I struck out too. I looked at every 105 book I have (Warbird Tech, both Squadron books, and three others) and didn't find a station diagram in any of them. I don't have a pilots manual for the Thud either... Good luck. -Derek
  14. I did forget that I do have another KC-97 reference. I've got an original filight manual which is pretty neat and has good intereior details but is lacking in wheel wheel details from example. And just a couple more in process pics with the wings on: I had big gaps to fill at the wing roots and the fit of the engine nacelles wasn't the best. I did add some details to the main gear wells that you can kind of see. Once the wing root seams are cleaned up I will add the other fuselage radomes and the boom operator's station. She's coming along okay. I do think I have enough weight
  15. Yes, the museum isn't on base so it's open to everyone. Here's a picture of how this MIG-21 looked back in Decemebr of 2002 at the museum. -Derek
  16. Great pictures as always Cliff, thank you! As a matter of fact, "283" is the bird that I'm going with -Derek
  17. Thanks Cliff and Mark - nice photos by the way. I'm asking because I'm working on the 1/144 Minicraft KC-97. I've got the Cobra Co. "L" upgrade set which is quite nice. I'm planning on finishing her as a Texas ANG bird. Here's a quick "in process" shot from a few days ago. I have the wings on as of today so she's coming along. -Derek
  18. Is there a book on the KC-97 out there? I've looked but haven't seen any. I just bought a back issue of "International Airpower Review" that has a feature on the KC-97 and there are some great shots on airlines.net but a dedicated book would be better I think. Maybe Ginter's "Air Force Legends" series produce a book on the KC-97. The "Air Force Legends" book on the C-124 is great so maybe there's hope for a volume on the K/C-97 series sometime. Anyone know for sure? Thanks, -Derek

    F-101

To go along with the F-105B photos I just posted over in the Thud thread, here's F-101B 59-0423 which is keeping the Thud company currently. She's in a pretty sad state but at least she's still with us. As you can see, she too is a former BDR trainer. When I build my 1/48 Monogram Voodoo, I've going to mark it as this bird. I've already got a set of the nice Eagle Strike NY ANG markings so a minor change to the tail numer and I'm all set. Does anyone have any photos of 59-0423 during her operational career? Please post them if you do. -Derek

    Sixes!

Another great thread. I love the Six! Here's a shot I took of a 5th FIS bird at D-M in the summer of 1987. I have more but this is the only one I've got digitized at the moment... -Derek

    Thuds!

Here's some shots of F-105B 57-5789 in her current state. She's a former BDR airframe. I was helping with the restoration last summer but the brains behind this operation passed away last year. RIP Gary. Hopefully work will resume on her at some point... Does anyone have a photo of her while she was with the NJ ANG? I'd sure love to see some operational photos of her. There is a small photo of her in the book "Roll Call : Thud" but there must be other better ones out there? -Derek
  22. I receivied my "Terrible Tyke" sheet in the mail today - thanks Mark! It looks great. I dusted off my Matchbox Skyknight and started working on it this afternoon. It was still sealed and had a $7 price tag on it, ah the good 'ol days... Can't wait to use your nice looking decals for it. Thanks again, -Derek
  23. I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. The Collings website has the history listed for the bird here: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/Houston/...-1huey_hist.htm Looks like she did fly in Pless's unit so maybe? -Derek
  24. Very cool Ray, thanks for sharing! I too got a ride in a Huey a few years ago, it was on the Collings Foundation UH-1E. It was an experience I'll never forget! -Derek
  25. Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I do appreciate it. I may go with the Welsh Models kit as I've been thinking about ordering their C-124 kit for some time now... -Derek
