  1. ha, you havent seen my painting... hope to get the undercoat on tonight then will look to see how good I can make it
  2. declaring the scratch in the cockpit now complete.... added the rear canopy hydraulics as the last touch, now to paint it up. while I await time in the "paintshop" I will start on the Garret Air Ram Turbine. This seems to be a small wind-powered motor on the S/B wing that gives emergency electricity when the plane is parked up. Going to use one of the electronics pod turbines (4-bladed on the nose) and remove 2 blades). Again it is small - I will be working on bits 1-2mm square - I need a magnifying head set dont I (not bragging, just setting expectations in terms of accuracy and neatness) an
  3. cheers Eric... I am definately learning things which is good, but still have some basic areas to improve on (too much glue for example).....
  4. sure Laz - will get them done (but they will show all the flaws - I am by no means the neatest!!!!)
  5. thanks for that... the copper wire is standard copper wire form a LHS (not sure on the dia) - the thinner wire is actually from a n old tea strainer (a strange British contraption).... but also use normal electical wire too - probably .1-.2mm thick i guess
  6. a lovely delicate touch with that cockpit.... really nice....
  7. rear bulkhead underway... just need to add the rear canopy hydraulics (assume that is what it is that runs vertically down the middle of the bulkhead)....anyway:
  8. just caught this one... som brilliant discussions and love the way you are evolving your design... nicking some srcatchbuilding tips as i visit......
  9. have a sfot spot fo rthe Prowler (dont know why) - even the one that is currently driving me blind with scratchbuilding..... this a neat one - different to see it in camoflage (have seen a couple of photos of it), mine will be grey/white old USN scheme (mostly cos it is an old kit and only has decals for that sort of build)...... may do the wingfold on mine (again sracthbuild) - will use your photos for inspiration
  10. still looks good (would've liked to see it in lizard green too ;-) you will just have to build another one to satisfy me!!!)... it looks very sci-fi... i can almost imagine the engines rotating to provide vertical lift - in my mind I have a film (Terminator or Transformers - something like that) with Military drop ships with props that swivel for vertical/horizontal flight......
  11. thanks for that..... gonna have to look at lighting... did start to try using off carmea flash last year... need a suitable model and the time.....
  12. flippin heck thats an odd combination... but more more... i want more
  13. and a bit more... with the seats in (and wiring tidied up).. the shot from above is meant to give an actual size shot (does on my screen but depends on your res)
  14. thanks for that... but really, 1/72 is very forgiving.... really got a break today - a good 4 hours working (thanks to SWMBO)...... continued adding wiring in the front (just need to tie down the last 2 and its done), and also built the rear IP. Plan is to use the kit decal to add the detail but have a little break up and relief through the plastic.... will repeat for the front. to do 1) tie down last 2 wires in front 2) add wiring behind rear IP (you can see it through the lattice so needs to be in (whether you can see it in the finished one I dont know but....) 3) start on front IP work
  15. watch out - 2 updates WITH PHOTOS in one day.... shocking.... well got a bit more done... bit of 'pit plumbing, the horizontal bar in the bulkhead, and, erm... something that seems to go from the bulkhead to the pilot seat - no other seats have this - anyone know what it is? so photos...
  16. slow going... for some reason the curved bulkhead position seems to be too far away form where the seat is, however it is perfectly positioned for the fuselage... so leaving as is... it may get thinned down a little more back to front and needs to be sanded more (as do other areas). finally managed to remove quarter circles in the bulkhead - seems to be a concensus with AM versions that that is appropriate... next up obviosuly the sanding but also wiring and a bit more building - going to put in a horizontal piece to take the whitce card behind the seats back to join the curved bulkhead (and a
  17. everyone agrees that is a lovely finish... for me... i want to nick your idea for the last shot - can you give details (or a setup shot) of just how you lit that....... I like artistic shots of my models and would love to try that with some of mine (think the Hornet would suit it as well).......
  18. WOW... i get confused working on 2 kits at once... some neat work there... enjoy the new A/B!
  19. that looks a good start - and if iot is your first time with doing scratch then you are doing well... you should attempt bay number 5, am sure you would make a good job.. just check references and attack it.......
  20. cheers as always Holmes.... slowly getting the tub ocked into a little bit better shape.... and still need to pu a little detail painting on the seats, but that will wait for the pit to be done so that it isnt too damaged test fitting everything!!!!
  21. i i could find it for the right price I would've gone for the Itlaeri (I think - it might;ve been Fujimi) kit as it comes with the ability to wingfold.... not sure on the fit/detail on the rest of that kit but that would;ve been nice to have (I could get AM wingfold or scratchbuild - not sure if I will yet)
  22. I find cockpits therapuetic (mostly as, on the whole, a lot of the detail while there, cannot really be seen so as long as there is an impression of detail it is enough.... have also set myself a couple of electonics bays to do - a first for me - but obviously more visible than the cockpit detail..... anyway, for today no photo update - started hacking the ccokpit tub 1) have removed the bits to the side of the vertical (ish) piece that is behind the pilots chair and moved them back about 1.5mm. This will give me a small gap to add some wiring into there (as seen on some AM parts). 2) Also
  23. now that does sound an interesting dio..... maybe if i decide to hack the wings (Hase kit does not have wingfold so would need to be sctracth or wolfpack AM) i could do this - guess as it was mated to the inner wing there would be some sort of rig or crane...... anyway slowly slowly i am making changes to the kit.....
  24. quick help needed... trying to tack down a cockpit shot WITHOUT ejection seats of a Prowler... so taken form the front looking at the bulkhead behind the front seats - cannot for the life of me work out how that should look (so far the best I have are AM resin cockpit photos but trying to retrofit those onto the 1.72 Hase arent working (making it up as I go along so any photos greatly received)
  25. thanks for the compliment - very happy with the way they have painted up but does mean i have to attack the tup - the basic one just isnt good enough (eeeeeeeeeeK)..... I got this one from ebay last year - I believe it is the first production edition (or a very early one at least) but not sure on copyright date... must say the quality of the moulding is very good - pity it is me building it really ;-)
