  1. Thank you for the excellent information. I think I'm going to try it; it looks like a fascinating subject.
  2. Has anyone built this kit? It has been calling to me at the LHS. It looks like fun, but I've had mixed results with Eduard kits; what I want to know is do the parts fit well, and can you build it without thinking you're doing a major conversion project. Thank you for any feedback.
  3. Phantom: A mix of colors. X5 green, X8 Orange, XF62 OD from Tamiya. 32 Grey 14 Flesh from gunze. Bottom grey is a tamiya spray
  4. Hi Everyone: Its been a while since I built a jet. This was a very intimidating kit in the box but turned out to be a great build; this kit is very accurate (was up close with a real 21 about 2 weeks ago) and fits very well. The only thing I added were brake lines. I had to go with the Egypt Air paint job; I never did one with that many colors before! Please note that I was actually able to attach all four PE vanes to the refueling probe. They'll probably have fallen off by the time I get home (as will the static wicks) but I made sure I got a picture as proof that my eyes have not totall
  5. Just finished this one last night (thanks, long weekend!); this is a mostly stock kit with some Eduard color PE (interior details and placards); also added brake lines. What a wonderful kit; this deserves every accolade ever given it. Happy new year to everyone.
  6. Nige, It will also come with an application for a home equity loan, because: 1) You'll need the money to buy the kit 2) You'll need a new spray gun (full size) 3) You'll need to add a room to your house to display the thing.
  7. When you look at Tamiya's actions with this series, they have been extremely logical and predictable. They've done the most popular fighter of the country represented, regardless of how many kits were already out in 1/32. Why? Because everyone knows these are the ultimate kits of our lifetime, and they've been selling well. They've also been releasing two similar versions of each tool. This means that we will see a further Mustang variation; which one I don't care because I have the original ready to become a Tuskeegee 'Princess Arlene'. But for the next new tool, they certainly have to g
  8. I agree; have already done the Spits in 1/48 and 1/32 for Tamiya; also the 1/48 Mustang; the 1/32 Mustang is in my living room with decals for Princess Arlene, Tuskeegee Airmen Stang, I want to have that one built in time for the movie release! And I must say that out of all of them including the 1/32 Spit that P47 still has the best fit; its almost uncanny. Now where did I put that faded olive drab paint???
  9. mawz: you are correct on the color. timc: you are right on the braces, I saw them in the photos as well. Think at this point I'm leaving them be; I doubt I could make the look good at this juncture. prop duster: tamiya P47, never built one, seeing now why this kit is a legend; the fit is better than anything I've ever built. Period. thank you all for the feedback.
  10. Hi everyone: first post to this forum. This is a semi-out of the box build; I used the Eduard detail set which was excellent, providing engine and landing gear details in addition to the cockpit. Fun build; the folded wings were a bit of a challenge but otherwise very nice. Paint is Tamiya, with the blues lightened considerably. Thanks!
  11. Hi, everyone: I am a Connecticut modeler. I have a few pieces that I would like high quality digital photos of so I can submit the photos for publication. I don't have a camera or lighting that will take sufficient photos. I'm looking for someone who has sufficient camera and lighting to help me out. My home town is West Hartford, CT and my business is located in Meriden, CT. I would be very grateful to hear from someone. Thank you! Bill Horton
  12. Hey, Bob, I mailed the seat to you today via regular mail.

  13. Toad, you got that right. This is only the 2nd Trumpy big scale plane I've done and they come out nice but they just seem to need sooo much work compared to a Tamiya kit, but they do have such great subject matters. I'll do another one eventually but I'm sure in no rush! And their new armor kits are so GOOD....they fit so well, that they're my favorite manufacturer. They need to put the armor team on airplane production!
  14. I'll be bringing this to Baycon. Please finish your Harrier and bring it....I can't WAIT to see that one!
  15. Well, that's good! A couple of cautions: You absolutely need the metal main landing gear. In fact, I wish I had the metal front as well, but I did reinforce mine with wire on the joints in the wheelwell. Second, be prepared for cleanup; the main fuselage seam will take a loooong time. That belly tank is a good thing because it hides a lot of the worst part of the seam. The black box set will probably be great. Have fun, will look in a few months for pictures.
  16. Toad, I used Model Master paints, enamels. First time in ages that I used them and i was very happy with their performance and results. As for the gap, that's the kit. The seat is where it should be, and the floor is where it should be relating to the back bulkhead. If that's an error its theirs not mine LOL. Phantom, the seat is yours, need your address. Wild Bill
  17. Its been a while since I completed an airplane. This was a difficult build and took some time. I used the Eduard PE set (mostly for cockpit stuff), a Legends resin seat, and AMS FOD covers. I used metal main gear struts. Thanks to John McCormick for giving me information and giving me inspiration for 1/32 jets with his amazing work. The paint looks a little too faded in some of the photographs but that is the flash; under normal light it looks much more subtle. Last, the Legends seat was a two seat kit; I have one left over and will never use it; if anyone would like it just give me your
  18. Hello. I will be starting this kit shortly and I'm not crazy about the intakes from what I'm seeing. I would love some FOD covers to eliminate the problem. Does anyone make them in resin?
  19. That was a wonderful build, Chuck. I'm quite happy that your Uncle is still here to see it. He must have spent hours looking at it. Good luck with your speech, and remember, if you get nervous try to imagine the entire audience sitting there in their underwear. It might not work, but should be amusing if nothing else..
  20. DAMN that things big! Great job, the afterburners look really good.
  21. great job, love the finish. if that were photographed with the right background you'd never think it was a model.
  22. I like it, and I think the weathering looks good. I really like the markings.
  23. Hi Jay, strangely enough, I did clamp the fuselage over the cockpit, using the cockpit floor as the strong join point. Based on what you say I'm wondering if I did a wedge effect; too wide on top (hence narrow canopy) and too narrow on the bottom (hence gaps at wing roots). Did your doors fit?
