Looking at the artwork posted the A-10C is missing the LASTE antenna on the vertical tails and the RWR antenna on the wingtips. Can't believe Hasegawa is releasing a F-35A without weapon bays and pylons. Thought both would be important to modelers. Mark S.

Lockheed-Martin on their website on the F-35 notes a height for the F-35A as 14.4 feet. That equates to a 1/72 scale height of 2.4 inches (2 13/32) or 61mm. If someone has already built the kit and it's setting on its wheels would you mind taking the measurement? Habu- Those were my first thoughts but it seems to be a larger error than that based on the small number of degrees off vertical that the tails are. Mark

Gents: In looking at the Fujimi F-35B, Italeri F-35A and Academy F-35A and taking measurements I have found the Academy kit's vertical tails to be shorter than the other two. When measured perpendicular from the base to the top of vertcal tails the Academy kit is shorter by 3/16 of an inch or 4.76mm. That's about 13.5 inches or 342.9mm to scale. Any ideas who is correct? The Fujimi and Italeri kit's tails both measure approximately 1 3/8 inches. Mark S.

Gents: Thanks for taking the poll and providing me with your requests for future subjects. I will start to incorporate as many as I can into future sheets. As for product availabilty my sheets aren't short-run production. Typically they are on the website for 12 to 24 months on average with a few remaining on Fantasy Print Shop's site for 6 to 12 months longer. Think that's plenty of time to decide a purchase a sheet. Looking at casting the resin pieces myself later this year since a dependable caster is hard to find. Won't begin until the weather is warm enough to work in my garage.

Well too each his own. I will be using Model Master Anthracite Grey Metallic for the color of the F-16. Will try it first on a Fujimi F-35B I'm working on now. Think the FS 36170 actually refers to the trim color for the radome and sawtooth panels. Tony Stark just don't pull the trigger on me for my opinion. Mark S. Wolfpak Decals

Gents: Thanks for the kind words. I chose to not include the stencils for the Sidewinders and such because of the very small size. The words would be nothing more than dots and dashes and the film would be such that it would be difficult to place on the missile and bend around to make it fit. In reasearching this artwork I discovered a wide range of shapes for the AGM-114's in the various kits. The best I found are the Hellfires in the ESCI AH-64 kit. The AGM-114L and the Brimstone appear to me to have the same shape. The missile body tapers to a smaller diameter at the seeker head

Gents: Here are three (3) new sheets for the New Year that are different than the rest. Got tired of trying to cut and paste decals for the weapons in kits that did not have them so…. Here is what I came up with to solve the problem: Sheet 72-068, Yipes Stripes. Markings for: AIM-4D, AIM-9B, D, E, G, H, J, L, M, and P. AIM-D and AIM-7E-2 (dogfight Sparrow). AIM-120A, B, or C and AGM-65B, D, G, and K. Note that there are alternate paint schemes for the Sidewinders Sheet 72-069, Smoke in the Air. Contains markings for: AIM-7F and M. AGM-45, AGM-88, AGM-78, AGM-65E, F, and H, AIM-4F or G

It would be nice to see the manufacturers include the new weapons that the aircraft are slated to carry in their kits beyond the obligatory JDAM and AMRAAM. Would like to see the JASSM and both SDB I and SDB II. I'm sure others would like to see the NSM and Brimstone. So are they releasing a X-47B? Mark S.

Gents, Here’s the December 2013 releases from Wolfpak Decals: Sheet 72-066 $17.00 – The first subject is a F3H-2N of VF-61, Jolly Rogers from 1957. Next is a QF-4G of the 82nd ATRS from Tyndall AFB. Followed by an A-4E from VMA-311 at Chu Lai in Vietnam. The next QF-4G is from Det. 1 of the 82nd ATRS at Holloman AFB. The EA-6B is from VAQ-133 and is in desert camouflage. Think it's just a botched paint job. Look at the unpainted kit next to the one that is. To me it looks to have a smoother finish. Could be that whomever painted it was mixing the color with something to make have the metallic sheen, just didn't thin it enough, sprayed it at low pressure and or had dirt in the paint. I'm waiting to see how expensive it will be. The Italeri kit at $39.00 for the detail it has is pricey to me. Mark S.

The longer wings of the Altair are in the Unicraft Models Predator B (Reaper) prototype kit. Additionally it has the original shallow fuselage. They're not the best kits and are expensive. There is artwork of extended wing Reapers including one with wingtip winglets in Aviation Week and the AFA's magazine although I don't know if any of the pictured versions have been built yet. Gents: Heres whats on the October release from Wolfpak Decals. As usual the cost is $17.00 per sheet. One sheet is devoted to aircraft and a missile of SAC and the other once again is a compilation sheet with a variety of subjects. Sheet 72-064 The first subject is a B-58A from the 43rd BW with special markings for the 1969 SAC Bomb and Nave Competition. Note that they even painted white walls on the tires. The Army evaluated the F-5, A-4 and GY91 as close-support platforms in 1962 before the Key West agreement was signed giving the Air Force all of the fixed wing assets other than light aircraft. 1/48th scale sheets have not sold for me in the past so if you are a 48th scale modeler you would need to get a couple hundred of your friends to ask for them before I commit to a sheet.
