I did a complete breakdown of the CF-104 markings for the italeri kit on another thread but I can't find that list either. Maybe the thread was deleted? Off the top of my head I don't remember all the specifics, but some I do reacall are; The kit claims the markings are for 417Sqn in 1962. 417 Sqn didn't exist in 1962. It was disbanded in 1949 and not stood up again until 1968. The unit could not possibly have been flying Starfighters in 62. The general shape of the leaf in the roundel is correct. It's a Silver Maple Leaf used by the RCAF up until 1965 (+/- a couple of months while aircraf

Sadly, a lot of things changed after Rick passed on.

Hmm, maybe I missed the part where this was a -C variant only kit. There were many discussions about -A variant tails being included.

A couple of work in progress pictures of the IPMS Canada decal sheets. These will be included in upcoming issues of the Random Thoughts magazine availabe exclusively to IPMS Canada members. Some great T-33 and Hurricane markings. thanks David

I'm really not sure if this has been posted before (could be a 15 page thread on it already, who knows). But I thought this was semi-hysterical.. Seems a Grand Slam bomb, once dropped from Lancasters in WWII, which had been used as a Gate Guard for years, was actually live. https://www.thevintagenews.com/2015/11/06/the-raf-discovered-that-a-15-year-old-gate-guard-grand-slam-bomb-was-actually-live/

By Grabthar's hammer...he will be missed. One of my favourite actors.

I've put up a second (working for now) link in the original post.

Some good HD footage of the new X-Wing and Falcon. Also, there's a pretty good chunk of the movie in there so Spoiler Alert. https://vimeo.com/151728142 [edit] added second link as the first one seems to come and go. https://vimeo.com/151719063

Clearly we have different standards as to what an F-18 looks like. This kit is not even close to an F-18.

Wow that US/CDN exchange is killing my buying

Sadly, all the consumables I use for my business, paper, ink, washes, etc..., all come from the states, so this is becoming quite the challenge. -
I have that kit, it's more of a YF-17 than any form of production F-18A. To make an F-18 (of any production variant), you have to do more than just rescribe lines. Removing the dog-tooth on the wings and horiztontal stabs comes to mind, among other things.

Err. Actually, belay last. I think I may have lied to you. I just checked the box and there are no decals in it. I have looked in the other Hornet boxes and they have the C variant decals, but I can't find the D variant anywhere. Which is quite unusual considering I'm pretty OCD about decals. I'll keep looking around and let you know, but if someone else had them, take them because I guess mine are not where I thought they were.

Great looking work there. Guess I always thought the Bandai kit was just the Fine Molds tooling with a new dish. Hadn't realized they'd done all new tooling. David

papermodelshop.com now sells the 1:32 scale CT-144 Tutor model in two schemes.
-
There has never been a Tutor released in that scale in any form. I am aware of someone producing a paper build model of a Tutor in that scale, but I don't know when that's going to be relased and it's likely as close as you'll get. shame really.

Looks Fantastic! Thanks for using my decals. Glad you liked them. David

It's been like that for a couple of months I think. Looks like that's how Terry is managing things now.
-
You have to use the full editor.
-
Count yourself lucky they got it that close. Clearly you've never modeled anything Canadian from Italeri or Hasegawa. I tried to do a list of things that were inaccurate with these decals but simply got tired of writing.

Reminds me of this...

Hi. Passing this along, there's a new book on the Starfighter on the way from Patrick Martin (of the RCAF marking scheme books). It's apparently on the press now.

I used CA glue on mine without a problem. Tamiya glue is for styrene, for everything try CA glue. Also used Acrylic paint on them with out an issue.

Star Wars E7: The Force Awakens- NOW WITH POLL
RiderFan replied to toadwbg's topic in General Discussion
I still have the original Star Wars (1977) on BetaMax. No way to play it and it sits in a box with my vinyl records.
