  1. the auxiliary pitot tube is wrong too. (must be shorter). I'm not sure about Charly's PFMs but the east germans had protection plates on both sides (retrofitted). Same about the mirror (periscope). The PFM had no mirror from factory, but the canopy could be exchanged between MF and PFM, so it could have one. Due to the lack of mirror heating (available from MF) in the east german air force the opening for the periscope in this case was closed with just a metal plate. BTW: It's interesting (and confusing) that the east german PFMs were called SPS (or SPS-K with gunpod), as the name PFM was us
  2. In Squadron #101, page 33 I found a picture with a MiG-27D carrying 2 K-13 Atoll.
  3. Right. The sit of the MF is lower if the wings are 72° (because the CoG moves backward), so the picture on the box is wrong (so much the worse with rockets!). Same with the wheel wells. Definately not mirror-image on the real thing.
  4. was not easy, but finally I found a picture of a JG-9 Mig-23MF with the badge: http://news.eastday.com/eastday/news/node3...es/00209227.JPG The picture was taken on the DHS (=QRA) tarmac. Kind Regards Tom
  5. Absolute agree concerning 564 - she could not show the badge. On p. 110 obviously only UB's...hmmm, need more research... I meant . that due to the fact that the badge was designed for the whole JG-9 and not only for 1st/ 3rd wing, also the MF's of the 2nd wing should have it. Let me ask some of my former JG-9 colleagues in the german "Flugzeugforum". The photo of the 20+05 was surely taken in Laage, after January 1991 no more planes were in Peenemünde. Kind Regards Tom
  6. That's not correct. All MF as well as the ML and UB's were in service until the end of GDR-LSK in 1990. First wing was the 2nd, equipped with MF/UB from June/August 1978. The 1st and 3rd wing got the ML in 1982. I'm sure, that's also not correct. The order to design a badge for a photo shooting came in spring 1990 to the JG-9. The drafts were discussed with all units and so the badge with the griffon in the colours of West-Pomerania was selected. The technicians added the wings. This badge should be removed after the photo session, but they ignored this order. (See Kanetzki: MiGs über Peen
