Incredibly realistic! I particularly like the restrained weathering. I think that if you take a picture under natural sunlight, it will appear even better... if better is possible! Cheers Davide

Most accurate FS595 list to model paints list
davetur replied to ElectroSoldier's topic in Research Corner
Hi, I checked on the Hobby Color Converter app for Android, and it gives as Indirect Equivalence (so an approximate match) the Tamiya XF-19. From the app, XF-19 seems lighter than 36375, but you can try it for yourself, the app is free to download... Davide -
Bellissimo G.55, you perfectly reproduced the characteristic "stove pipe" silver finish of post-war Italian fighters!!! Cheers Davide

Trumpeter P-40F used as Vallejo Metal Color paint mule
davetur replied to dmthamade's topic in The Display Case
Thanks for the info Don. It's a proof that not always the primers recommended by the manufacturers are the best. I always use Humbrol gloss black as primer for the Alclad Metallics and never had a problem, so never tried the Alclad primers for that reason. Davide -
Trumpeter P-40F used as Vallejo Metal Color paint mule
davetur replied to dmthamade's topic in The Display Case
Flawless finish, Don! I am keen on natural metal finish techniques (I'm building since ages a Super Constellation to be done in NMF), so can you share what kind of "bad experience" you had with them before, and how you did "beat them into working"? Cheers Davide -

The Sword T.5, OOB except the Master pitot, and the fin decal. The original was totally out of scale, so I used the one of the Airfix kit. The resin seats and colored photoetched parts are from the box.

The Airfix F.6, OOP except Xtradecal decals, Master pitot and scratchbuilt cannon muzzle brakes. From a 1.25 mm steel tube with cuts made with a cutting wheel.

I have always had a soft spot for the Lightning. I built my first when I was a teenager from the Frog box. Not exactly a "beautiful" aircraft, with its massive belly tank, but something that gives the idea of brute force, like a MiG-25 or the A-10. After some time the Trumpeter kit came out, I decided to buy and build it. Then the Airfix came out, and being more accurate in shape, I decided to build it. And then the Sword trainer came out, so... why not? Here they are. The Trumpeter F.6. With Aires cockpit, Aires corrected exhausts, Xtradec

Hi Chris, here's a possibility, with the Kh-58 anti-radar Missile and a Phantasmagoria pod. Another The airshow-stile show of possibilities Laser guided bombs (one shown, but two side by side should be possible) And most interesting, a couple of pics from Airliners.net with mock anti-radiation missile Kh-31, the necessary Phantasmagoria pod in the centreline aft station, and a laser guided bomb in the centreline forward station. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Russia-Air-Force/Sukhoi-Su-24M2/418373/L?q

Awesome model and Star Trek collection! Sorry, usually I'm not picky about the misspelling of Italian names (most common Guiseppi insteat of Giuseppe etc.) but this time I kindly ask for a correction... The shuttle was named for Galileo Galilei (1564-1642) astronomer, physicist, engineer, mathematician and father of scientific method. Galelio is really tooooooooo much! And by the way, in the text it is spelt correctly, so just a small correction to the title, pleeeeeeease. Thanks Davide

It's said on page 3... Uzbekistan!!!

I'm really surprised no one has commented this yet! French (also Turkish and Danish) F-100s used to weather very heavily, your model captures the feeling very well, Murad. Well done. Davide PS I suppose it's the ESCI/Italeri kit reboxed by Tamiya, right?

Thanks Paul! This means that the time ratio TVShow vs Commercial in US is even worse than in Italy! Cheers Davide

Very interesting, Paul. I've always refrained from leaving future in my airbrush for too long for fear of it drying in some place inside: then it's really hard to clean it. Do you have any trick to avoid this, or are you using a simpler airbrush (e.g. external mix) to spray Future? BTW, the results are simply Amazing! Cheers Davide

This is absolutely outstanding. All pictures look like a real aircraft in flight. Ever thought of shooting some pictures in natural sunlight outdoor? I think the results will be even better! Cheers Davide

Hi Phillip, very nice and neat model! Just for your benefit "Ostrega che sbrego!" is hard to translate, because it's the dialect of Veneto, the italian region of Venice, just to name a place which should be known worldwide. Ostrega is something like "damn" and sbrego can be both deep wound or a tear in fabric. So in English it would sound something like "damn, what a tear!". I discovered it's the title of a popular comedy in venetian dialect which dates back to 1907, written by a guy named Arnaldo Fraccaroli. So it's quite plausible the comedy was still popular in 1938, and was chosen as a

Ciao Davide, just because I'm envious of the incredible level of detail of your work. :jaw-dropping:/> I think only the British Tornadoes have the double scissors (fore and aft) on the nose landing gear: GR.4 The Italian, German and Saudi IDS generally seem to have only the front one: IDS Germany Saudi IDS Although in this photo the Italian one seems to have something similar to the rear scissor: Italian IDS T Just for your check. Davide

When I built mine (ages ago: and without the fantastic job you did on the landing gears) I remember resorting to putting a big piece of sprue (vertically) at the split, on the fuselage side, to increase its "thickness". By adjusting the length of this sprue rod I was able to find an acceptable fit of the tail cone. If I may suggest another modification, the Testor kit has a shape problem in the nose chine. Seen from above, it's too pointed, and it's mid way between the more rounded curve of the SR-71 and the more pointed shape of the A-12. I added some thick plastic card on both sides to rest

There is also a specific paint from the Lifecolor range, UA535. Davide
