Have you already tried this other thread? http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=133818 Davide -
Reaper, I have followed your in-progress thread on the paint job and I'm simply amazed. It's the best rendition of the famous Blackbird black I have seen in any scale. Just one small point, you may still fix it with some drybrushing: the nose tyres were not using the same rubber-aluminum mixture of the mains, so they should be black. The nose tyres, differently from the main ones, were housed in a cooled compartment, so they did not need the aluminum to reject the heat. Davide

For the seam, I remeber having read on this forum a tip: put the wheel in the freezer, and when you're sure it's frozen, simply remove the seam with a file. Davide

I have to agree. Instead of trying to search the net for more info or photos, people like to show they are image analysts and aircraft designers. This forum is for reference material, so if someone can find more OK, otherwise words have little or no added value. By the way, anyone knows if this aircraft has a (official or unofficial) designation, like J-something? That could help in the search. Davide

I am not used to start this kind of topics, since all the models on this site have such a high standard, but Peter's effort deserves a special mention, since the photos can easily lead to think it's a real aeroplane. For me the top result of a modeling effort is right this, when a model, properly photographed and set in the proper environment, looks like real. And a special mention to the article, that praises Trumpeter for a model that is not perfect, but fixable: which is not every modeler's stance toward Trumpeter. Simply outstanding. Davide

There's a short article on this on the latest issue of AirForces Monthly. It's called Azarakhsh. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azarakhsh Davide

It's the AFTI (Advanced Fighter Technology Integration) F-16, a flying bench test that has been used for all sorts of technology developments, from complex flight modes/controls (using canards fitted under the air intake) to automated weapon delivery, to sensor integration like the ones shown in the photo. You can find more photos on the NASA site: http://www1.dfrc.nasa.gov/Gallery/Photo/F-16AFTI/index.html Davide

If you want to see someone really incredibly skilled, take the time to download this video: http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?se...eb404004b5c458e It's heavy, but it's worth the wait. It's from the Virtual Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron. I have a hard time making straight and level low passes with the simulator they use (LockOn), let alone flying in tight formation. Just got an e-mail from Meteor saying they will release two conversion sets for the Revell Monogram kit, one to obtain the B-52G and one for the B-52H. There is a small photo of the parts already cast. If the quality is the same as the recent F-4 conversions.... (which I don't doubt). <_< They say they will also do resin engines for the AMT-Italeri B-52G and H. Davide

Surface preparations & finger oils - how to handle??
davetur replied to Scooter Man's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
Another tip I have tried from other's suggestion, to keep down dust in the air, is to spray some water (using one of those sprinkler bottles used for domestic degergents, filled with water) all around in the room used to do airbrush the model. Seems to work. Davide -
I think nice job it's an understatement. The model looks like the real aircraft! Of course Jan has spent a lot of time studying photos of real Fencers, since the weathering is soooo convincing. Especially the radome, with that faded gray appearance all Fencers have (except those fresh from the paint shop, of course). Any tip Jan on how you did it? Just for when I build my Fencer (in my next life). Davide

Surface preparations & finger oils - how to handle??
davetur replied to Scooter Man's topic in Tools 'n' Tips
I use a fiber cloth dampened with enamel thinners (Humbrol's) for cleaning my models, not only before painting, but also when sanding. Thinner is not so aggressive as white spirit, so it won't harm the plastic, and immediately after being laid on the model leaves a nice shiny surface, good for checking flaws. It also cleans well sanding residue in recessed panel lines. I have also used Polly S Plastic Prep with good results before painting (mainly because of the anti-static properties). Davide -
You're right, I mixed up two things. Davide
