  1. Thanks for the suggestions all. I will certainly have to look into the CE turkey feathers. Although I am not sure I will really need them as this kit will be hanging in the office at work with the rest of my collection. Not much of a chance of someone getting a ladder out and looking up the pipes. ;) I will also have to look into some decals as I am always looking for different markings than what everyone else seems to use. Thanks again for the help. Matt
  2. Thanks for all the replies. I think what I am looking for would be decal options, and possibly the color PE set for the pit. I have never seen a PE set by Eduard for the Mudhen though. Thought they only made that one for the C model. Gonna have to look into that one. Not sure why but my least favorite part of kit assembly is the cockpit. :) If anyone knows of decal options or where to find the PE set for the pit, the info would be greatly appreciated. PS, got a digital camera today as well so maybe I can finally start taking some pics of my work and sharing them more often. :)
  3. Hello all. Hope everyone is having a merry christmas. I just found out that I should be recieving the above mentioned kit shortly after christmas as one of my presents. Just wondering what all is out there for aftermarket goodies. I am pretty sure I will be getting all of the stencils from Hobby Decal as I used their stencils on my 1/32 A-10, and while a little time comsuming to apply, the finished product is stunning. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks, Matt.
  4. Thanks for all the tips everyone. I decided to paint them first and went with the blue tac mask to cover them up for the rest of the painting. Actually used poster putty from walmart as I have heard that it is about the same thing. Thanks again.
  5. Never thought of the tissue idea. Might have to give that one a shot. ;) Thanks for the ideas. I wont be doing anything with it until I get home so still time for more opnions. Thanks again.
  6. Hello all, how is everyone? I am in the process of another RoG 1/32 MiG-29, but this time will be in the 29+20 anniversary colors. Being the first kit that I have built gear down in quite sometime, I have run into a dilema on when to do the base coat of the wheel wells. And for that matter what color to use. Was kind of leaning towards Light Ghost Gray for the wheel wells. Anyhow, back to the original question. The aircraft is now primed with Tamiya Fine Surface primer from the rattlecan. Should I go ahead and shoot the wheel wells now or wait till the rest of the paint is done and shoot t
  7. Thats a sharp looking Corsair. Never seen that scheme before. Fits the plane nicely.
  8. This is an area that it seems all of my models are lacking. I can make mine look ok, but no where near as nice and detailed as what I see on here. Take for example this pic of a 1/32 Flanker cockpit that I snagged from the In Progress Forums. I cannot figure out how you guys do it. Is there anywhere with a walkthrough with pics on how to get such detail out of a pit? I would really like to buff up my skills in this area. Thanks for looking.
  9. Hello all. I just started working on Revells big 1/32 AH-64 kit and have a few questions. First and foremost, what is the proper overall green color as MM Olive Drab just doesnt look right. Also, what is there in the way of aftermarket items for this kit? I am mainly interested in exterior details and decals. Also, has anyone made a conversion for this kit to the current Longbow model? Any info would be great. Thanks, Matt
  10. Please note the symbol that I use under my name for this forum. The white dome is the "dolly parton" canopy at my work. Those of you familiar with KTPA will know what I mean. The ironic part of the timing of Dennis is that we just put the final touches on the $2 Million US project that has been underway to replace the canopy that Jeanne shredded. Luckily we arent getting much of Dennis here in Tampa, but I keep those in the path in my thoughts and prayers. That area cannot take another hit.
  11. Thanks for all the help everyone. Looks like it will be the Whiskey Cobra. I was leaning in the direction of this one but wanted some expert opinions. Im off to place an order.
  12. Hello all. Well, I am thinking about trying my hand at a helo. I prefer to build in larger scales so proably looking at 1/35 or 1/32 scale. Looking for suggestions and info on what is available in these scales. Kind of thinking along the lines of a Cobra or a Longbow Apache. I noticed on Spruebrothers they have a 1/35 AH-64D by a company called IMEX. Any info on this kit? I look forward to your help guys. TIA, Matt.
  13. That special visitors plane is sitting on my ramp right now. Going to be leaving TPA this afternoon. Pretty cool when it comes in. Not to mention that its pilot (John Travolta) is proably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet.
  14. That is one great looking bug. I still cant get over the angle on the pylons on the Superhornet. And the drop tanks really make it obvious.
