Have you ever received test shots of models from anyone?

I have.....a CH-46E from Academy, an F-4J from Zukei-Mura, parts of the 1/32 F/A-18 from Academy, an EA-6B from Kinetic and a couple of others. I can tell you from first hand knowledge and as matter of fact, the plastic used for the test shots I received was NOT the same plastic used in the production of those kits. The CH-46 test shot fuselage was grainy and the clear parts in it, as well as the F-4J from ZM were frosted.  Some of the test shot parts of the Hornet were in silver plastic.

Test shots are done to simply make sure all of the parts come out as they should. Tweaks and adjustments are made where, and when necessary. Once everything is as it's supposed to be, the molds are polished and the kit goes into production.

Seriously dude, your post above pretty much confirms that at this point, you're being a jerk just to be one.

Yes…, and a laxative one ! If I may say so.

37 months and 96 pages. What a saga.

I wish AMK well but at least Tomcat fans had Tamiya to stop them going mad.

    Hi Tony

I chose the AMK kit...I paid for it in June 2017. I knew the AMK boys would produce it when they had free times , so as to not interfere with their other productions.

I am still waiting … I was warned...So, no problem for me. I won't buy the Tamiya kit, so simple as that (or so simple as the Tamiya kit is…).

AMK are fellow modellers, making  kits as a hobby for modellers, not looking for profit , but just looking for not loosing money, what I can easily understand.

So I can still wait for months , I do not care as far as I knew what I was doing …

There is no point about going mad for a heap of plastic !

    Yes my friend,

You are right 🙂 Just if someone know anything about it let it share...my time on this world is not on my side if you understand me :-)...Not to many miles left 😉

    All the best.

    Hi Nino

The same for me, but don't be afraid, this new kit is supposed to be a "shake and bake " affair ! The kind of model you can build and paint in a W.E. just by looking at it !  Just hope that times will prove me right !

    Dear friend,

That is last model kit I wait to complete my collection...belive me.This hobby is my only escape from this chaos in the world and my only peace. It is my favorite aircraft ever and I feel like I am geting first date. 🙂 You know that feel when you wait something that you wanted forever.

    All the best. 🙂

Well, I can understand that. There is still something positive. The longer you wait for it , the bigger your joice when you receive it !.

Anyway, Hope it won't last too long.…. too much joy can kill also !

Please, please update us with this project.I wait so long for it.I watched so long carefuly for this subject but I hasitate to talk on forum for it,because I didn't know what to ask.But now please just tell us aprox time when we can expect it because I have sold my Kinetic model kit and I wait for this model.I think about it all the time. Will it cam out at all.Where is those guys from the project? What is going on with it? Will it have that SVP-24-33, so that we can build this model kit from Syrian campaign? Any info is welcome.

    All the best.

    Hi Nino

You shouldn't have sold the bear's fur before having shot him !

It's just more than 1 year since I paid for the F-14D from AMK, and I am still waiting and confident….

I am also confident for thisSu-33, and I will have the same patience… there is so much to do in life than kits. It remains a hobby !.

If the AMK F-14 is as good as their MiG-31, I'll be buying it. Tamiya releasing theirs before AMK has no impact for me as I'll be buying both! Hopefully, AMK will take their time and do the F-14 up good, regardless if Tamiya releases theirs first.

Where are we going to ? ... AMK is getting better and better with each new kit, and so does Tamiya....

There is always enough place for quality product. There are just different approaches.

I'll trust AMK for this one , as I did before...and I never had to regret it.

I just got an email from Indiegogo for a feedback survey. The email was titled 'Have you received your perk?', with an estimated delivery date of 15 Dec. I ordered the twin package 1 and I sure haven't received anything, and been patiently waiting for things to materialize. Did anyone else get a similar email? Or is it some sort of joke/hoax?

So did I . Just went on AMK Facebook page , seems that everything is running O.K. So no panic. The kit is coming , maybe sooner than the pessimists believe. As the project is still running you can't actually already have received your "perk", can you ? ( If I have the meaning of "perk" correct)

You could join the Indiegogo survey as well

Well there is a slight difference between Tamiya and AMK

Tamiya is like BMW, they don't have to sell their product, it sells on its own just because of the name (because we consumers are not very clever :) )
Smaller companies still have to find ways to market their products

A topic with 80 pages here sure raises my curiosity, so job done :)

released tomorrow or in 6 months or even in 2 years doesn't make a difference. It's not like we have zero kit in the stash and waiting for the AMK F-14 is a question of one modeller's life and death

I mean we all want the kit now and then we'll store it in the stash for 10 more years  - go figure :)

    +1 :touche:

20 more years for me !

    97 ? my foot

or you do look very young for your age

    :)

I know how old  I am looking INSIDE !  I've been exposed to plastic-epoxy and enamel paint fumes and many others for much longer than you had ! ( I won't speak about the resin powder I swallowed ....)

You very young F-16 jockey !

Yes,  my feet are feeling  like they were 97 ...but they'll still support me till I go to the post office to get my F-14 in 2020 !

I'm  leaving now cause I have to take my different medicines and a little bit of EPO.

    Madcop

  11. I placed my pre-order (Indiegogo) on the 8th of June 17.

I am now 97 , so that I can still wait a couple of years or more. No problem...dreaming makes you see the future and desire keeps you living !

And when the wait will be over, you'll realize that's it is just another box full of plastic bits better or worse than the other pieces of plastic you already have. So, if that doesn't kill you , you'll start dreaming again about the perfect whatever you can dream of...( e.g 1/32 N.A. P-51B for me....).

So , thanks to AMK :worship:  for keeping me alive !...

  12. Looks like Yufei product has got the edge on the Cold War Studio one as it is a one piece casting, whereas on the CWS you still have to add the plastic cam. bay.

Looks from the pic that Yufei's product will demand far less fitting work than CWS one and looks also sharper.

I have the CWS one and all is fitting very well after a little cleaning job, anyway I may also buy a Fairey Hobby when they are back ...

    Nice job Yufei

  13. Hello Berkut,

Many thanks for these infos. Have we more détails about these boxes.  Have we some more close up pictures of them. Do they eject the flares backwards or downwards ?

When you talk about some other minor détails, (Internal or external ), are you talking eg about the wingtips of the 9-13 type  ? , What else do we need to know about ?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge .

    Shame they didnt fix the external flare boxes though. And here is the artwork in a nice resolution;

    Hello Berkut

Pardon me for my ignorance but what do you mean with these external flare boxes. Are they wrong, misplaced, too thin or what ?

I am sorry but I really do not understand the problem. ( I am talking about the "boxes" that are placed forward of both vertical tailplanes )

Do you mean they were also wrong on the 9-13 ?

    Thanks for the infos.

  15. Looking at all these pictures and having a look at Zlinek plans I'll definitely wait for Zvezda's release.

Looks to me that the front of the AC is a little bit cartoonish and I have a serious doubt about the engines fairings and airbrake.

But I may be wrong , future will tell.

    Madcop.

  16. The receiver is (finally) complete

It received some smoke weathering with salt technique, different mist of greys and the usual washes.

The probe had to be realigned, it points almost downward if left as intented.

I'll shoot some more detail pictures ASAP.

The tanker needs some more work, hopefully somewhere during the week :)/>/>

Fait trop beau pour travailler !

Les marins les aiment crados !

    Nice work Buddy !

    Madcop

  17. I sense some kind of polarization. My understanding: "For us the kit matters more than the model. Are you with us or against us ?". For me a good model kit is a good kit (easy to assemble, nice and crisp detailing) and a good model (dimensional accuracy, proportions, version specific features).

    Hi Laurent

It's just like a guy trying to sell you his car that he knows is a POS ,but who keeps telling you that you'll love it just because of the very nice ashtray inside !

    It's just miserable.

  18. Hi Mad.....thanks for your comment......to rescribe I use only a simply needle.....no special tools...only the needle infact can follow all the lines printed on the etched template like Verlinden's one.Chek this thresd.....ciao from Italy....

    http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=271490

    Hi Enrywar

Yes, that's what I use to do also, but UpNorth is not a special tool, it's just like a Verlinden's set but with all the F-100D specific panels, acces hatches etc...

I like to scribe. But when I have finished with the job, well I've to do myself some violence to go further with it ,

  19. There is no need to go to a museum with a plumb bob to measure the wing span of a Bf109. The basic airframe dimensions are widely known, widely published, and widely agreed upon. Which makes it even more stupefying that Eduard could have gotten them so wrong. You may need to measure certain specific parts of the airframe to get your kit design right, but Eduard doesn't even appear to have done much of that.

    Hi

"There is no need to go to a museum with a plumb bob to measure the wing span of a Bf109."

For sure they didn't , they were more interested in testing their new beer brand ! If this is the effect it produces, I for sure won't test it !

Or maybe they were too busy with the farm girl ?

    Madcop

  20. ...Thanks guys....!!!!! :boohoo:/>/>

    Hi Enrywar67

You've done what I have been dreaming of since I have this kit.

I missed a tool called UpNorth scribing set especially done to rescribe all the

    Monogram F-100 panels.

Did you use it on your model ?

I am desperately looking for this set.

Who knows, maybe one of the member could locate one or is willing to sell it ?

Very, very nice work, congratulations !

    Madcop.

  21. Hello Red Dog

Quite a nice job done since our last meeting at our LHS !

YOUR refuelling pod looks definitely longer than the Heller one. (even with the prop added to the Heller)

Is this pure Hollande's interpretation or you had to make it longer so as to keep the section ?

By the way , your work is just great and as you can give a real dirty look to these Rafales you must be pretty happy !.

Do not worry for this difference in length, I was kidding, at 10000 Ft nobody will notice it !

    Madcop

  22. myself, I simply grab every Fujimi 109 kit I run across, and as far as I'm concerned is the best BF109G kit out there till maybe Zvezda gets theirs out. Fujimi could take that old piece of plastic, and do a mild update to it with a new cockpit, and be good for another 20 years

    gary

    Hi Gary

I for sure you mean that the Eduard kit is " the nicest " BF109G kit out there till... " I agree with you , but surely not the "best" !

For the time being "Nicest and best" fits only the Spitfire Mk.IX

As for Fujimi they could add a complete new nose section as well... !

You'd better wait for the Zvezda at 16-17 Euro. These people know their subjects !

    Madcop ;)
