  1. I use a metal watercolor paint cup that comes in a set of 10 that I got from Sprue Brothers. I just put a dollop of green stuff scooped from the tube into the cup, then I use a eyedropper and start adding a few drops at a time, mixing with a toothpick. The Green Stuff thins quite quickly, just don't make it too thin. More like a paste. You'll very quickly figure out the consistency you prefer to work with. I apply it to model after masking both sides of the seam where ever possible. Using a metal applicator I got from Micro-Mark. Push the 1st layer into the seam, then apply a 2nd coat higher then the top of the seam as the Green stuff will shrink as it dries. It tacks up in a few mins. and dries like it always does. Don't mix up large quantities, just what you need for the job at hand. I add more Extra thin when it starts to dry out before I'm done.

This application makes laying on large amounts of Green stuff so much easier and less messy.

    Hi Joel

For this kind of work I am using White grade Milliput. I had a very bad experience with Green Stuff. I used it on a F-86F-40 wing that I wanted to change into a 6-3 wing.

Well after some months the Green Stuff had eaten the plastic and all my leading edge and puttied slat had become wavy , ruining all the kit that ended in the trashbin !

Since that day ( years ago) I never used it again.

  2. I suppose that Mr Sulc is going to put some order in his house. I wouldn't trust some people any more after such a failure. But we still don't know who is to blame for it. Research team-

    developper-engineering ? The boss himself ?

The fact that the Brassin AM are not to the same scale as the model they are supposed to fit is not a good sign for the future.

I am pretty convinced that the team that researched the Spitfire was not formed by "indoor" guys.

I know he received help from people devoted to the subject !

Why he didn't do the same for the Bf 109G will remain a mistery for me...

Mister "best kit for years to come "' over engineerd ego has just got a big blow ... but he will never admit it!.

Looking at the Bf 109G I am pretty happy that he notified people ( live chat ) that he was not planning any Griffon Spitfire for the years to come ... If it were with the same Bf 109G team it's quite a

    relief for me !

    Madcop.

  3. I see no issue with this. I consider myself to be a "moderate" rivet counter but at the same time, I don't have the time or depth of knowledge to do an in-depth comparison of each kit part to the real thing.

There are many folks out there that do an outstanding job preparing detailed reviews (not the fluff pieces you see here or on sites like Cybermodeler) and I find these reviews to be extremely helpful in identifying any short-comings of a particular kit and assisting me with my decision to purchase or pass on a model.

I'm curious why you take issue with modelers that want the highest level of accuracy vrs those that are fine with something less? For each project they undertake, do you expect the former to spend hundreds of dollars on references and hours of time meticulously researching the original subject and then the same amount of time researching the kit for potential shortcomings? If someone chooses to self-perform all this, great. In my case, I have a comfort level with certain reviewers. I will depend on their reviews to provide me with all the info I need to make an informed purchase decision.

+ 1 for me although I had the occasion to have a close look at the box content.

For me it has been a definitive NO THANKS.

But I must admit that for those who pay more attention to the artistic aspect of modelling , well this kit is nice. I am more on the historical and shape accuracy side.

This aspect always guides me in the buy or not of a kit ( at least for those like Bf 109 or Spitfire, and believe me this 109 is a very huge step backwards when compared to the fidelity of the Spitfire )

  4. Damn Ken, that looks superb! :worship:/>

I don't have AKAN paints here, but how does one differentiate if it is acrylic or not again?

There is a "break point" after which the stinger is completely straight without any further breaking points. So Zvezda is perfect.

    Hi Berkut

    Many thanks for this info.

  5. Hi everybody

And Eduard is going to release a " ROYAL CLASS " boxing. A "ROYAL" what ? They are just shooting in their own feet !

Corrections or no corrections , this kit has been very very badly researched.

This kit could be the countrary of all what they have been announcing.

But be sure they are going to sell tons of them. And Mr. SULC knew that whatever crap he may produce, provided it's a Bf 109 it would sell.

(Just look at the 1/72 AZ model ! )

Let's just hope that the money they will earn will serve another jewel like the Spitfire !

One thing is sure, they won't have my money this time ! They took the wrong direction , both in the kit development and communication !

  6. Indeed, Zvezda nailed it while trumpeter was a crude simplification. I think i have said it before; but Su-27 (also known as F-16 copy according to certain expertens) and YF-23's are a soup of subtle shapes. Get them wrong, and whole thing just doesn't look right. And that is what makes them good looking, for those with working eyes anyway. :)/>/>/>/> Btw, the blue color seems to match very well.

And maybe Ken knows what you are referring to Madcop, but i have no idea. :P/>/>/>/>

Hi Berkut , thanks anyway, maybe this picture is speaking to you a little more. It looks to me like the fuselage and spine are going down and up between the engine, with the " angled" part of the spine being flatter and larger.

  7. Hello there , all Su-27 fans

I bought the new Su-27SM by Zvezda yesterday at my LHS.

Had a dry run , and this one looks definitely great.

One thing is disturbing me. I noticed on different pictures that it seems to be a noticeable upward kink in the rear fuselage of the real aircraft.

At this place the spine seems also to be flatter and a little bit wider.

    My question is the following.

Is it a simple optic illusion ( but I doubt ) and if not I don't notice this " kink" feature on my otherwise wonderfull Zvezda effort.

    Thanks for your comment(s).

  8. Hello Brettas ,

Yes that's true, and it's very hard to tell from those angles but if you look at Robertsons comparison it sure looks ok to me, but I can be wrong.

So I can tell you for sure when I get mine .

    Cheers

    Boris

Looks like the same error as on Hasegawa's 1/32 Bf-109G serie. Nose too angular. They corrected this and other mishaps on their Bf 109F-4.

    Just my 2 cents.

    Madcop :)

  9. Dear Mr. Yu Lin,

After reading very carefully your letter, I would like to know which are these "newest accurate details on the parts, which are never found in all the F-15 kits in the market before" just released by your company.

In addition, I would like to know if the any new release of the GWH F-15B/D will be identified by a new serial number, so to be able to know in advance what is inside the box.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon,

    Galfa

    Hi Galfa

WTF... you won't buy it !

Go back to your workshop or keep standing in front of your Mirror staring at your image and ask you some questions. The time it will take you to find the answers we'll be at peace.

    Please have mercy !

As far as I am concerned I will buy GWH F-15 as I did already bought the 3 MiG-29. I know I'll get updated parts some day for the MiG-29 Late and 9-13.

Mr Yu lin has to be thanked for his professionalism and if you are not happy about what the market has to offer you ( I am afraid you'll never be ), build one from scratch !

    Amen

    Madcop

  10. Hi there

For the time being , speaking about the 9-12 Italeri-Zvezda still the best in town. Still some problem with the front ( cockpit-canopy and nose).

Wait for the new 9-13 by ZVEZDA and it will be still possible to do some surgery on the spine and wing tips wit some parts of and old Italeri 9-12.

If you're in a hurry you can as well do the same with a 9-13 from ICM ( last boxing, I mean the one with the external tanks inside) and an Italeri-Zvezda 9-12.

    Good luck.

    Madcop.

  11. I presume you mean Gliding Bob? I thought I'd already checked with him and he had no info, but maybe my Halfheimers has kicked in.

Yes, Plankwing, you're right, he is the one and only "Gliding Bob".

So no worry about Alz... :D

    Have a nice day.

    Madcop.

  12. What is the equipment aft ventral ahead of the drogue chute housing?

    F-84F52-7216Belgium-FU-52-Demo-1966-WhatIsIt-1200.jpg

This is F-84F Belgian FU-52 in Demo livery 1966. I think it is a smoke generator but cannot find any other info than what is evident in these three photos (combined into one graphic). I am building a model of this using the new Hobby Boss 48th scale kit and would like to add the "whatever this is" to the build. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Plankwing.

It's a "home made smoke generator" as my friend Bob told me today when I asked him whether he had seen your post or not.

You should take contact with him for more info I suppose.

    Hi Gabor

Just to thank you and Yufei Mao for all your time dedicated to this wonderfull kit.

Thanks to G.W.H to listen to us modellers , and thanks to GWH for their continuous effort and investment to bring us a top quality product.

Just to mention also that all the pylons where also corrected and that they are now at the good scale ( as for the tanks.)

I have two pictures of a German 9-12 with the external tanks fitted.

There is a wire running from the tip of the tank to the pylon. What could be the use of it ?

    Thanks

    Madcop :)/>

P.S. Just wish G.W.H good luck with their F-15 serie.

  14. If the tip is "squashed" this way, doesn't that throw off the shape of the width of the radome when looking from the top-down?

Will sanding the sides to make the tip circular solve a majority of the problem?

    Mark

So, where exactly begins the circular cross section of the fuselage, at the base of the windshield, a little bit further or at the base of the radome ?

Could it be then that GWH has the cross section of the front fuselage wrong also ?

    Madcop

  15. "People like Murph, Waco, Jennings, Bruce radebaugh and others to include myself that know their jets because

they Flew or worked on them with more time then average."

Well, I would ask they to show some measurements of the areas where We are having such doubts, pics are fine

but rarely taken in the same angles the models are.

For example what is the dimensions (Height x Lenght)of the canopy braces of the F-15A/C and B/C?

Remember Einstein: "If God exists He is pure mathematics".

Long time ago I asked about the A-7K cockpit dimensions to correct the "joke" HB A-7K kit, since looks to me

that the real A-7K has parallel cockpit sills, while the HB kit clearly has convergent cockpit sills, well,

    I'm still waiting...

I have several F-15s from Hasegawa 1/48, and absolutely ALL have the upper wings malformed due to the plastic

shrinking (where lower surfaces joints to upper).

For sure I will buy the GWH F-15s considering theirs MiG-29s.

For me Fatal Flaws are only the wrong dimensions and angles in a kit. All the rest may be fixed using my skills

and/or resin sets, even for the bad tires now We have several options like Royale Resins, True Details and others

    that surely will come.

    SouthViper

    + 1.

    Madcop. :)

  16. I would like to know from the MiG-29 connoisseurs if can I use the kit's radome or may I have to get

    the QB set QB48122.jpg?

    SV

    Hi Viper

Academy needs a replacement , but for G.W.H , from what I can see and from what I've read on the different forums , I can't see the need , except you are a cosmetic addict !. :)

    Just my 2 cents

    Madcop

  17. Dear GWH,

If you ever plan to modify your Eagle, here is my book of dreams.

So, in yours next Eagle release I would like:

    1) New shorter exhaust nozzles with etched actuators.

    2) New exhaust nozzles with turkey feathers.

    3) New canopy fairing.

    4) New bulged canopy and windshield.

    5) New internal engineering so that we do not need to fit inside the fuselage the engine trunks.

    6) New wheels accurate in both sides.

    In addition, I would like:

    7) Only one engine, but with additional parts, so to be possible building the engine and the airplane as separate models.

    8) A stand for displaying the engine next to the airplane.

    9) New, up to date, missile launch rails.

    10) A metal fork insert for the nose undercarriage leg.

    11) Some accurate conformal packs (NOTE: not like the Revell ones).

What I would not like follows:

    12) Big wide open access panels, because open them is easier than closing them

    13) Variable air intakes, because they are down almost only when taxing and pilots are not supplied.

And what I dream is an Eagle with:

. . . very restrained panel lines, and very few rivets.

    . . . accurate engine bulges.

    . . . finally accurate air-brake area.

    Dreaming, keep dreaming

    Hi Galfa

This is not a book anymore , it's just as thick as a bible !

Jesus ( If I may say ...), I am sure Mr G.W.H. will have a close look at this list, and I know for sure that he will do whatever is economical for him do to fullfil your wishes, but please not every dream can come true , can't it ?

Perfection doesn't belong to this world, does it ? . You are perfectly right when you use the word "dream".

I just trust G.W.H and I am sure he will improve his product thanks to all the "rivet counters" and dedicated people from this thread, but be also aware that Mr G.W.H. has a business to run , still on the learning process , still listening in and doing his best to satisfy his customers.( I can testify on this ! )

For all this I , for sure , will add one of his Eagle to my stash, just to encourage him to go on like this.

There is enough crap coming on the market nowadays ( from Europe and Asia ) that serious and listening new producers need our encouragements and support.

    G.W.H. is one of these.

    Madcop :D/>

  18. Hi guys!

Having been away for a while and here brings you some good news.

I received the new tooled parts at the end last month and here are them.

They will be included from the upcoming L4814 MiG-29 9-12 early type kits.

    Yufei

    Hi Yufei

    Yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Thanks Yufei , wish other makers could follow this example ! Thumbs up for G.W.H

Now the cherry on the top of the cake would be to make these sprues available separately for the customers who already owns the "Late" and 9-13 Models.

    Any idea, ?

I would be ready to pay for these so as to " update " my two models. I already made some works on these items as you know , but I still prefer to have them "injected" !

    Well done

    Madcop :D/>

  19. Hi Petr

    Hi, there

    Looks wonderfull.

But, when looking at the pictures , I can't help myself thinking about like a CMR Czech Master Resin -AZ co-production, but I may be wrong of course , as CMR doesn't exist any more under this single label!

I can't help but imagine that there may be two different Petr's work (one Petr.B and one Petr.M) behind what looks like a delightfull little model.

The answer may rest in the business mysteries.

Where are the good old years gone ?

    Just nostalgia !

Best regards to all of you.

    Madcop :)

PS. I must reckon that if all this came true and was the result of a "gentlemen agreement", the idea behind is quite nice as injected models are far more affordable for the majority of modellers.

I have the CMR Vampire F.3 and Mk.6 as well as the Venom Mk.1R, and these are undisputed jewels.

I am just looking forward being able to compare both OOB products ( keeping in mind the limitation brought by the injection manufacturing)

  20. Hey all....I was wondering if anyone knew if the Aires engine for the Academy Mig-29 fit the new Great Wall kit at all? I am in the middle of the build and so far it is the only disappointing area on the kit (this baby is building up beautifully otherwise).

    THANKS!!!!

    Hi Deadmeat

I have the AIRES kit , and I hold it for my left over Academy kits , as they don't bring so much to the GWH. Actually GWH is nearly as if not as nice as the Aires Kit .

    Just my 2 cents.

P.S. I don't think you should have any trouble fitting it to the GWH Kit, anyway.

    Madcop

  21. Just want to share some photos of the production run GWH Mig-29 photos just obtained from local model shop. Wooohooo! I got it! :nanner:/>/>/> :cheers:/>/>/>

The missiles are the best cast ones I have ever seen up so far. They are molded in one piece with the pylons.

Sorry for the crappy mobile photos, they dont do them justice. Maybe i will get some better photos later.

    Hi Hero Ma

Next time , stop smoking this kind of stuff when you 're looking (in extasy) at the content of a kit !

    :)/>

Thanks for the pics ! But from what I can see , the pylons are still separate parts , aren't they ?

I am still waiting for mine ( a nice gift !) from a friend ...
