  1. My wife asked my what I was laughing about when I was reading your first post, all I could tell her was that I could not explain it.
  2. Hajo, you really know how to pick aircraft that look awesome in camo. That hud really stands out nice through the canopy. Great job, they look nice together but as far as F-16 being able to replace the A-10...
  3. The YT-1300 is done. YT14 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr YT15 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr YT16 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr YT17 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr
  4. Another one that I am going to consider finished. YT13 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr The yellow/blue that I put on the engines is a lot brighter in the pictures than if viewed with the the Mk1 eyeballs, I guess it is because of the lights. I glued an eye hook into the bottom of the finished kit after I took the pictures so that I can hang it on the wall as if it was in a vertical climb (I have no more shelf space). Since I did not use any Aurebesh on the recruiting shuttle I thought I should throw some on here. The nose art on a WWII C-47 gave me the inspiration, so this is what I
  5. Incredible is not a big enough word for what that guy is doing! Thanks for posting the link here.
  6. I added as many parts to make it look like an engine as I am going to. YT10 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr I also made the mistake of painting it with a rattle can of Krylon. It has been 4 days and it is still sticky. I thought it was lacquer but I guess it was enamel. On a side note, I was sad to see that Peter Mayhew passed away. It was always amazing to me how much acting/emotion he could accomplish being fully enclosed in that suit. I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall in the UK during the late 90's/early 2000's. They used to have a 4th of July fireworks show/carnival a
  7. That turned out nice. It just looks so right in that camo. I never realized that the rudders on the 2 seaters were that much bigger, I think it was a good idea that you trimmed it down a little.
  8. My daughter went with me to Home Depot to buy these parts, I had to listen to 20 "This store is so boring's", 50 "What are you looking for's", and I lost count of how many "Are you done yet's". A new rule for me is No kids on found object hunts! This is what I ended up with to start the engine. YT07 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr Here are the parts all glued together and primed. I also added some styrene to the end of the nozzles to dress them up a bit. You can also see where I filled in the open spot from where the tunnel to the cockpit used to be. 9. It looks like this kit was really made to be lit, except for all the windows. You should get a nine volt battery clip and solder some alligator clips to it to make it easier to test your lights. Els
  10. Somebody better tell Phantom that they are giving speeding tickets for building to fast now!
  11. The shape of the aircraft, the paint scheme and your skills all came together for an excellent result.
  12. Make sure you use a good dust mask when cutting/sanding resin. That stuff is very bad for the lungs.
  13. Capt Obvious, quitting your job is excellent for additional modelling time, not so great for paying bills though. I worked on it some today, filled in the area where the old cockpit tunnel was. I thought that I had sealed off the cockpit but of course sanding dust got in there and stuck to the windows. I am not sure how I am going to get that out. Tomorrow I will head over to Home Depot and look for some items to make the engines and fill in some of the back end. Plumbing section is usually pretty good for those types of things.
  14. You definitely have more patience than I. It will be worth it when it is all lit up.
  15. Hello all, I guess I am staying with Star Wars a little longer. This is the old Revell snap tite Millenium Falcon kit. It is not very accurate (side walls are huge) and would be great for a kid to build and play with. This kit has some of the hardest plastic I have ever encountered, very durable. I am going to convert it to a transport version of the YT-1300. There are several web sites that show different versions of the YT-1300 and I am going to go with the one with exposed engines. Here is the kit. YT01 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr There are not a lot of parts and if
  16. I was going to take a break but the shuttle is done and my wife has some of her friends coming over tonight (There is a high degree of possibility that there will be loud caterwalling on the karaoke) So I am going to the garage to start another project. I have a Revell snap together Millenium Falcon that I am going to convert to a YT-1300 transport. Els

  18. Southwestforests, I like the thought of a camo'd up shuttle but since I quit my job last week due to an overload of BS I don't think $120 was in the cards. I wish you had posted the idea about a Bird of Prey earlier because I want to build one of those now. Hopefully Ban Dai will release this in a scale that is more manageable because I need one of those on the contest table to shake up the Star Trek/Star Wars fans. The kit is finished and I will post some pictures in the completed section. I went with the recruiting drive shuttle. I found a cool picture of a Tie Fighter pilot on line
  19. Thank you, The gear doors needed some putty and a little rescribing, not to bad. Els
  20. Hello all, Here is Roden's 1:144 C-141B kit with Caracal decals. It was a pretty nice kit, not much putty required. While looking at references on line to paint this thing I found that 141's are like fingerprints, no two are alike. I kind of went with an average of what I saw most. 141 05 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr 141 04 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr 141 03 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr 141 02 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr 141 01 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr I left the pitot tubes off because they look like they are more like 1:48 scale. It needs a couple more coat
  21. Admiralcag, you are not kidding about this seam. Here it is primed and I am on my third round of putty/sand on those seams. It is getting closer. lcs05 by Hal Elsberry, on Flickr I am still not sure what to do with the paint though. It is just to big to paint gray. I have been looking at Star Wars lore for battles that the Empire either won or claimed to win to do as an anniversary image on the huge vertical fin. I have also been looking at these "The Empire wants you" recruiting posters that people on line make. Maybe it could be a travelling recruitment tool like our Armed Fo
  22. It's looking good. I always liked the 2-seater and now you have me wanting to build one. Els
  23. Thank you. All that texture was sculpted into the kit, I just added some washes to bring it out.
  24. It will be a shame not to be able to see the pilot, your paint job on him really brought out all the little details.
