Since the new Tron movie is on its way to the theaters I thought that I would build my 1:12 resin light cycle. I bought this kit several years ago, maybe 2002, from Monsters in motion. I have started on it several times but I always seem to put it back on the shelf after a couple of hours work. The kit came in 4 or 5 resin pieces. The main body is one heavy chunk of resin. I have sanded and primered a few times to get to the point I am at now. This is the box. This is the documentation that came with the kit. I don't remember there being any instructions, but you don't really need an

Nice job, looks great. Its always good to see inflight models. Els

Nice job, you have a great model to show for your time. The painting is excellent. Els

TonyT, I really like your painting. It definitely looks abandoned. Don't ge me wrong, I think the Millenium Falcon is one of the coolest looking ships out there, but I have seen a million pictures of it built up. It's nice to see a new spin on an old subject. Els

Its done. 2qwick4u, I tried your suggestion with the yellow stripes but because of the thickness of the lower fairing it made the stripes come out at an odd angle. I thought about masking and painting but suddenly the the laziness factor kicked in. I tried painting a squiggly green camo pattern over the top of the silver. I ended up getting rid of that though because on the motorcycle it looked like someone who didnt know how to paint had painted it. I just decided to keep it simple. Yellow stripes on back, Hinamarus on sides and green on the front cowling. These decals were from the 21

Bagger Ron, I have the kit/instructions but I do not have a way to scan them. I took some pictures with my digital camera and posted them on my facebook. The photo's are pretty large so that you can see everything clearly. Here is a link to the album: http://s900.photobucket.com/albums/ac206/H...20Instructions/ If you get a copy from somewhere else or download these please let me know so that I can delete the album. Good luck on the kit, I have never seen one of these built up. Els

2qwik4u, thanks, I used Tamiya clear orange and blue. Wege, Thanks, I had to look Zorst up on Google. I guess that is another sign that I am getting old. cr7driver, thanks, I am pretty happy with the way the deal worked out. Hopefully it will stay on and not peel off. I got a little done today. I decided to fill in the upper vents in the fairing. I wanted it to look a little more 80's style. I glued some plastic from inside and then filled the rest with Bondo. I got it up on two wheels. I didn't follow the instructions for the front forks and that was a mistake. It made it a real

2qwik4u, GreyGhost, and cr7driver Thanks for the positive comments. I haven't built one of these Tamiya motorcycle kits for a few years and I forgot how well they went together. I have never built a Tamiya aircraft kit but I have also heard good things about them. I got a little done today. I painted all the body parts black so that the silver would be a little darker. I went to the LHS and they were out of silver so I went to the local arts and crafts store and bought a can of this: Its a small can, same size as the Tamiya spray cans, but it only cost $1.99. I think it is great.

I have been building a lot of aircraft lately and the last two have seemed more of a chore than a hobby that is supposed to be fun. I think I am a little burned out on aircraft so I decided to build a motorcycle to change it up a little. This is build will be OOB. This is the kit I have decided to build. It is the Tamiya 1:12 kit: These are decal options included in the kit: About 6 or 8 years ago I built the red and white version on the left and this time I wanted to try something else. I have been wanting to build a bike that is painted like a WWII plane for a while, so that is wh

All, Thanks for the positive comments. 1:144 is definitely not for me. It is way to small. I will stick to 1:72 and larger. I have a 1:72 130 in the stash that I am going to convert to an MC-130H, I just don't have space to display it. I used to be in modelling club when I was stationed overseas and there was a guy there that only built 1:144. His kits were very well done and it amazed me everytime he brought a kit to a meeting. I always envied him in that he could display a lot of kits in a small area. Els

This is the Hasegawa 1:72 scale kit. I am taking some new pictures of old Sci Fi kits and I thought that I would post these. I built this kit last year when I was but a lurker so it was not posted. I don't know anything about Macross, I never watched the show. I do like the aircraft though and have a few of the kits in my stash. I decided to change it from the blue/white demonstrator scheme included in the kit. I used a mix of kit decals and the Starship Modeler nose art series 1 decal (Gunslinger/Superfly) for the back of the YF-19. I decided to paint the kit in a green/tan camo to mat

Hello, Fresh of the bench is this Minicraft 1:144 AC-130H. I built this kit OOB. This kit went together pretty good without much filler. There isn't a lot to the kit and it can be finish over a weekend. I cannot say that I really enjoyed this build though. It was one of those kits that comes along every once in a while that just fights you during the build. There was no specific problem area with the kit, and I can't put my finger on why I didn't like it. Maybe 1:144 is just not my scale. I had planned on buying a couple more to convert to Talon I and II's but I don't think I will now.

Nice pumpkin Rotorwash. I wish that I would have thought of something like that. Has there ever been a Halloween pumpkin carving group build on the ARC? Els

I went to the Cocoa Beach air show today and had a great time. That is the first time that I have ever been to an air show that was not at a base or airport. The aircraft were able to get a lot closer to the audience than airshows that I have attended in the past. I got to watch all the planes (and other scenery)and the kids played in the ocean for about 3 hours. Its not every airshow that you go to where you get to see a speed boat race an airplane. All of the participants put on excellent shows. They had a nice selection of aircraft demonstrations, this is the list from their website

Shawn M, Thanks. For $10 you got a great deal. Woody71, Thanks, Are you going to post pictures of your Trex when you finish it? I would like to see it. Dahut, I know what you are talking about. The first day after I hung it on the wall it startled me a couple times as I walked out of my kitchen. Dean, I saw your B-17, you did a nice job on it. Are you going to build a 72nd scale or 48th for the group build? Unless you have a large display area, I would recommend staying with the 72nd. Els

This is great. What did you use for the crewmembers? Els

I finished painting/weathering the kit and worked on the gunners weapon. It is pretty close to being done. I figured a drum magazine on the top would be best because I could not find a good way to have an ammo belt and it still be able to be moved from side to side. I am going to have to see what it looks like mounted on aircraft to see if I want to go with it. I am in need of some guidance. Since I am building this for silly week, is proper to post pictures of the completed kit before silly week? Should I continue to post in-progess pics and then wait to post the completed pictu

The kit that got me hooked on Phantoms wasn't even mine. When I was about 10 years old my best friend told me to come over and see his latest creation. Up to that point we had only built 72nd scale kits. When I got to his house, hanging from the ceiling in his room was the biggest aircraft kit that I had seen. It was a 48 scale F-4. The decals were just stuck on the unpainted plastic, thats how we used to build them back in the day, but I was hooked. Els

Pinguis, That gun is awsome. I want one of those. I wish I had the skills/imagination to make things like that. That is a cool site, thanks. Els

This was quick build that I just finished. I used the HB kit because I wanted an A-10 on my shelf but I didn't want to do a lot of work to get it there. I used Two Bobs decals. The decals were very nice, the only problem is that the checker board pattern did not fit on the tops of the vertical stabilizers very well. I am not sure what kit they were scaled for. When I get some 72nd scale munitions, I will add those to the kit. I like these HB easy kits. I buy them whenever I see them on sale. There isn't a lot of detail, but they are a quick build and look the part after painting. I wi

Taiidan Tomcat and Martin Sam 2000, thanks for the encouragement. I think that I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this build. I don't know why, but the older I get, the less interested I am in long builds. I finished the majority of my painting today and coated it with future so that I can slop some Pro Modeller wash on it tomorrow to bring the panel lines out a bit more. If you haven't tried this stuff, it is great. I am still trying to figure out what to use for the gunners gun. Here are two ideas that I am working on. The one on top is a Warhammer 40K gun

GreyGhost, thanks, I like both of those movies so I am happy to be there. Pinguis, Yeah, I am liking your wood idea. I have been wanting to try out a woodgrain technique I saw someplace. Go for the Blohm und Voss. I would like to see what you come up with. I am sure that you have some ideas during your build that I will want to "borrow". Silly week is my favorite time of the year. You can just let your imagination run free. I have already completed one other kit for that, but I will wait to post it. It is more a comedy kit. My wife had to work tonight so I got a little extra time to

Sharkey and JackMan, thanks for the compliments. I have started to throw some paint on the beast. I used Tamiya metalic grey and copper to start blocking in the areas. I am not really sure what type of paint scheme I am going to use. I think that it will be boring if it is all just copper. It is a serious pain in the butt airbrushing around the steam engine parts. Here is a shot with my messy work table. I will have to stop with the painting at this point because I saw some areas that are a little rough and need more putty and sanding. I am thinking about leaving the vertical stabi

Its been a couple of days since I last updated. I got a virus on my computer and tried everything to get rid of it. I used Spybot, Malwarebytes, system restored to a date before the virus and none of it worked. I finally had to reset my computer to the factory installed settings. What a pain in the butt. I lost a lot of stuff. If you have been putting off backing up stuff, stop what you are doing and back up now. I wish nothing but pain and doom on the scumbags that think it is a good time to send these viruses out. All right enough venting... Pinguis, I took your suggestion and have
