Last March I attended the Tico airshow and snapped some pictures of the aircraft on display there. I was wondering if anyone knew if decals (1:48) were ever made for this F-105 (Ye old War horse) that is on display at the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum? I didn't think much of the aircraft when I was taking these pictures. Today I was looking for some other pictures and these cought my eye. I think this would be quite a painting challenge to pull off and I would like to give it a try. I don't know anything about the plane and the museum's website only has a picture of the aircraft. I

Joe, This probably explains it better than I could. http://www.dickblick.com/products/balsa-foam-ii/ I mostly use it for making brick or stone walls for the 1:6 scale figures that I build. You can use it for anything though, you just have to seal it once you are finished carving it. Els

I needed a break from models for a while so I decided to experiment with a side project. I have seen some F-4 and F-14 nose art that I liked. I thought it would be cool to make it look like it was a plaque either carved out of stone or a 3D relief type of thing that I could hang on the wall. I chose to try some art from an F-14. I upscaled this picture and traced it onto a piece of Balsa Foam. I then started to carve the image onto the balsa foam. I will detail the art but I haven't decided yet whether I will smooth out the negative spaces and add panel lines/rivets or roughly carve awa

Thank you. The tiger heads on the sides are from a 1:48 Hasegawa F-104 tiger meet kit. All the other tiger markings are hand painted. Els

I remember when I was about 12 years old I bought a Jeep CJ-7 kit at a 7 Eleven. Ahh the glory days when kits were cheap and everywhere... Els

Great kits, nice job. I like to see in flight models. I build most of my jets in flight and the props on the ground. I guess that is because I can't find a real good way to simulate the spinning prop. I have used prop blur in the past and those look pretty realistic. Now if we could just get more manufacturers to include pilots with the kits. Again, nice job Els

This is the Revell ARC-170 snap kit. I know the crews wouldn't let it get in this bad of shape but I wanted one that had seen more that its share of combat. Definitely time for a refurb. I scratched up a cockpit and changed the pose of a couple of the crew. It was kind of a waste of time though because you can't really see it once it is closed up. Thanks for looking Els

I was at the local Kmart today and the kids wanted to look in the toy section before we left. I was walking around there when I noticed a model section. I was pretty suprised, I haven't seen stores like this selling models for a long time. The selection wasn't great, mostly car kits with a couple revell 1:48 aircraft kits and some of the easy aircraft kits. It kind of brought back memories of being a kid, when most stores had kits. Els

I just finished this F-15 Egg plane that I modified to an E model. I actually had this about 99% finished about a year ago but I was touching up some paint and got impatient. I thought it would be a good idea to use a hair dryer to quickly dry the paint. It did, but it also caused my heat formed canopy to collapse in about 1 second. It bummed me out so much that I just threw it on the shelf and left it there until a couple of days ago. I added about 3/4 inch to the front so that I could make it a two seater. I also moved the intakes forward and used putty and Bondo to make the fuel tan

All, Thanks for all the positive feedback. It is definitely the most colorful F-4 on my shelf. Holmes, This is a close up of the base. I hope the info is correct, I basically just took the info from the decal instruction sheet. I used Microsoft Power Point to put some verbage and a couple of pictures to cover up the wooden plaque. Power Point works pretty good for small graphics jobs like this and it is very easy/quick.

Here I am... I don't have any modeling related pictures so I will just post the picture of the day that I very narrowly escaped the alligator statue.

This is the Hasegawa 1:48 F-4F that I built OOB except for the decals. I used the Eagle Strike decals to model it as the 35th Anniversary jet of JG 72. The decals went on great, but if I were to ever build another I would probably cut the horses up into smaller pieces to make it a little easier. I am not sure if I got the blue right. In every picture of the jet that I have seen, the blue is a little different shade. I finally went with the small testors glass bottle simply labeled blue. It looked good to me. I hadn't used Testors paints since I used to brush paint them straight from the

Great job. I really like the second picture.

This is the Airfix 1:48 Hawk kit built OOB. I used Model Alliance decals to model a 100 Sqn Hawk from early 2000. I didn't realize that the MA decals didn't include stencils so I tried to coble together enough extras to make it look busy. I used a dollar store picture frame for the base. Thanks for looking Hal

This is the old Testors 1:48 Mig-37B Ferret E kit. I thought the tail area was little to bulky so I chopped some off and redisignated it a Mig-37C. Since the cockpit was so sparse I wanted to hide it. I put some clear orange and then a light dusting of aluminium in the canopy and then covered that with some smoke to darken it up. In person you can still see through it a little but in the picture it looks very dark. This was the first time I built one of these old kits and the decals were extremely milky looking when I applied the first one. I didn't think they were going to work so I sta

I am just about finished with the Pegasus Hobbies Space Ark from the movie WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE. I am just waiting for some 1:350 scale figures to give a sense of scale to the kit. There isn't a lot to the kit, it is a good weekend build.

All, Thanks for the positive feedback. I will post a few of the other Eggs that I have built. An F-16 I modified for Tiger Meet. F-15 from Egglin. And I am trying to build F-4's from all the countries that flew them. I have modified the Spook to represent the countries. British 74 Squadron F-4EJ Kai Japan Hal

This was the reason I started buying the Hasegawa Egg Planes. Usually after a couple of long builds I start to get a little tired of building kits so I will build an Egg Plane. There isn't much to them so they are quick and easy to build. It's a nice stress reliever and it keeps me from getting burned out.

I have built most of the Egg Planes and decided I wanted to add a bomber to my collection. I used a wooden egg from a craft store and 1:144 and 1:72 B-24 kits for the extra parts and Zotz decals. After lots and lots and lots of filling/sanding, this is what I came up with. Thanks for looking and let me know what you think
