  1. By looking at the prototype Ca-15 drawing and then the production version I thought it funny that the design kind of went from p-47 to p-51. Also if the griffon powered p-51 looked anything like the Ca-15 I know what you mean Toursit (dont mean to offend your opinions there Ross), How the aussies took arguably the most beautiful fighter of WWII (not in my opinion but its up there) and got the Ca-15 I will never know... On more of an on topic note to the original suggestion, I'm working on a 1/48 p-51d right now and just the other day I picked up the fuselage along with one of the Quickboost r-
  2. Do you know if anyone by the name of Perish was on this mission?
  3. Oh yeah i almost forgot about the paint treated wings. I'll keep that in mind and im gonna stick with the metalizers for this project as i dont have the funds for a couple shades of alclad at the moment. Thanks
  4. But seriously does any one have any suggestions for the first question I asked. If not I was thinkin MM metalizer aluminum plate all over, with some spots MM metalizer stainless steel, aswell as the panel around the exhaust MM metalizer burnt metal. And then I would paint the control surfaces testors aluminum to simulate dope. Also what do you guys use to mask metalizer as I know I cant use tape. And one last thing would be how does MM metalizer sealer work? what does it look like when dry? And can I weather it and apply decals to it?? Thanks, Erich
  5. Just ordered the seat and some exhausts off of spruebrothers aswell as some stuff for my monogram kingfisher to supplement the slightly sub par resin set I bought from MZ models out of Australia
  6. Watchin Pearl Harbor and its really tempting me to run down to the LHS right now and pick up the AM B-25B! ;) GO DOOLITTLE!
  7. That is the original seat (wont be using it). Man these pictures notice things I didnt even...disregard the sloppiness of the various black boxes it cant be seen at a distnce of greater than 3 inches away. ;)
  8. Thanks alot John I'll try to keep it impressive! ;) I too am a fan of the allison powered varients (i have an AM F-6A in the stash--that should be a real fun build for me). Well, I finished the pit! ;) Heres some pics...got a little carried away ;) and the sidewalls... and pit + sidewalls Thanks, Erich
  9. I've decided to scrap the kit seat as there isnt much deatial and the harness is atrocious. I'll be using a true details seat instead which comes in a pair, (I'll use the other one on a more serious build of a tamiya p-51d someday) and is cheaper even than a set of eduard USAAF seat belts which i dont want to waste. I'll have to wait for it to ship but it shouldnt be a problem as it can be installed at the very end of the build.
  10. Sure thing! Lookin forward to the finished product!
  11. Thanks millenium but I think I'll stick with the rubber on the fuel cell as i dont want to paint it again and it dosent look to bad to me and you cant see that much of it under the radios (but in retrospect yeah it prob. should have gotten the flat black treatment) as for the wheels once I get light gray drybrushed on em it'll look fine. Glad to know i've inspired you! Good luck! Finished up the wheel wells and gunbay As well as the gun package and the gear doors and gear itself Radios Fuel cell Instument panel And although its hard to see i have sanded off select pa
  12. What I typicaly do to weather my arctic camo jets would be to use 2 diff. kinds of wash (I use a medium gray for the white and black areas and then use like an extra dark gray for the gray ones). I mask off the areas to get the lighter wash with blu-tac and then aply it normaly like any other wash and then once that is dry you mask off those ares and do the same for the gray just with the darker color wash. Then take all the masks off and wipe both wash's excess off at the same time. Good luck with what ever technique you use . Post some pictures too, An A-10 in arctic camo sounds extremely
  13. Sorry it was duty cat that had to wait 3-4 months, that was a quote. I typicaly have to wait 2-4 weeks and they ship it by USPS
  14. I sort of resemble a drunken idiot when i fumble with model parts And so i've had to order quite a few parts form them... It seems like the Revell Monogram parts take about 5 days tops and RoG takes about 2 weeks but lately my order for some parts from RoG (Fw 190 cooling fan and a Dr.1 instrument "bar") that were lost under my monster desk have been cancelled after I made the order...not sure what thats about maybe i ordered one too many pieces that may not have been missing dont get me wrong i only did that once. Not sure what the deal is.
  15. Probably been mentioned several times (didnt bother to read all 108 posts) but also the cowling color was not gloss black, It was actually more of a semi-gloss dark(dark) navy blue. Also did anyone notice the missing tail on the C-47A in the 7th pic down on the site from gregv
  16. yeah i have brushed with those metalizers before for small things. Also the dipping sounds like a great idea cuz that stuff is so thin...I'll deffinatly try that. Most p-47m's had the same DDG interior am I correct? Just for future ref. for when i finally decide to buy the 48th tamiya kit (which can really be built as any bubbletop prior to the p-47n)
  17. Will soaking the parts work as well as scrubbing them with a toothbrush(to clean off release agent)? Because alot of the resin sets I have have lots of elctrical lines/hoses/oil and fuel lines that are very fragile. Thanks
  18. Haha yes I will remember for the razorback in my closet! But the current one is a D-25. Thanks
  19. Oh alright so like a silver laquer color? Yeah I'lll keep that in mind
  20. No pictures right now but i just applied a wash and painted the Yellow Zinc Chromate areas. I'm also about to paint the fuel cell well...rubber(testors square bottle) along with the tires. More pics later
  21. Yeah thanks Steve i've got that on the paint rack and i also have the P-47 Detail and Scale book i just needed to know a good match for DDG. Also the shots of my aircraft have nat. metal gear legs thanks though ill keep that in mind for the razorback i've got in the closet....seems like OD gear legs would look good on a OD/NG razorback (just my thought).
  22. Oh this explains alot seeing as I live in gainesville florida and well its summer right now!!
