  1. this is an italian armorer finishing up his work
  2. When i apply future to a suface to try to make a glossy finish, lets say to apply a wash, I apply it with a brush to my cockpit and after about five minutes it dries to a semi-gloss type finish,i get the same result when i airbrush it, I know i have to let it cure for a couple of days but is this semi-gloss type finish right for applying a wash or is there something wrong with me or my future??? What do i do????
  3. maybe if i rephrase this... Do i use future or just a gloss coat and what ratio of MM italian dark brown (the color ive chosen) to enamel thinner do i use to make a workable wash
  4. I am truely sorry for all the lousy pictures explanation: oldish camera, not much skill, new to this kind of thing
  5. These are my modified cockpit parts:lightening holes in seat armor, thined and put lightening holes in canopy guide(original was attached to the canopy frame), and cut off gunsight glass for acetate replacement. floor and fuel tank before paint and fuel filler tube was added and... after (pardon the lousy photo) sprayed all the interior green. At any point in the build if my color choice is innaccurate please notify me :) I like revell monogram's soft style of detail for some strange reason...Hope to get a wash on tommorow Also I'd like to inform u all that im a highschool studen
  6. Well... I've started the build The not-so-inspiring-boxart (i wont be building it as "Big Beautiful Doll") Since this is my first build on ARC I thought id post some pics of my workspace..tried to clean it up a little... got a little carried away... spray booth thought id give ya a little taste of my other main project right now --1/48 A-26B Thanks for lookin, Erich
  7. Ha I've got it easy with the revell kit. All I have to do is sand of the lines and it looks perfect!
  8. Thanks for all the pics everyone and the advice. So would the silver laquer have been like a tamiya flat aluminum or an alclad dull aluminum? Because i know aluminum paint should never be as shiny as bare aluminum but would it be as dull as those shades? Pertaining to the mirror finish when i asked the question the key word was "restored" and Im not going for that look so I guess that question was unnecessary.
  9. Nice work there Mawz saw that kit at my lhs for $5 and almost bought it cuz i thought it was a D but still a nice kit!

  13. Hey everybody. I know that p-47's that roled of the republic line had dull dark green interiors but id like to know what color you guys use for the int. just in case i have it lyin around and i dont have to run to the lhs to get it. Also id like to know if its anywhere near the color "Bell green" used in the p-39 interiors...ya know im tryin to kill 2 birds with one stone and maybe get the sprayin done for both in a short period of time. Also if any of you have a good technique for washes that would be appreciated as i havent found any real conveniant solutions to this well known techniques. S
  14. Hey everybody this is my first post on ARC and im excited to get opinions and info from all the other great minds here on ARC! This post has to do with the fact that im about to commence building a revell 1/48 P-51D in the colors of a bare metal aricraft that just arrived at an airfield in europe with nothin but nat. insignias, stencils and serials. Now my question is that ive seen these airplanes restored with a mirror finish and then i've seen original pics of a more toned down finish and i'd like to know what shade('s) of alclad II to use. I know this is not the easiest build or the most up
