  1. Looking over my Ginter book on the "big Banjo", it does appear that the wings on both the -2 and -3 are damn near the same. So, I'm thinking that a kitbash of both kits might just yield a decent F2H-2 Banshee. A section of the -3 fuse would also have to be used to give the correct wing to fuselage junction. So it's ultimately up to KH to get this one right the first time! Time will tell!! Jim
  2. Bottom line is that a "one and done" mentality won't cut the mustard even when dealing with very similar airframes. Do it right the first time and have separate moldings for the -2, -3/3m or include the unique parts for say the slatted vs the hard wing. It will cost more for sure but err on the side of accuracy. Just my 2cents! Jim
  3. The early -3s had the slats from the -2 plus an enlarged intake for the bigger engine. Let's hope KH gets the differences between the 2 and 3 right! Jim
  4. I've used them a few times for a stronger gear leg (e.g. on Roden's T-28C). I also used their KH F9F Cougar gear because the nose gear tube appeared to be longer (less compressed) than the plastic part. Otherwise, they are apparently an exact copy. Jim
  5. I wholheartedly agree!! Do it right or not at all! Let us not forget what happened to the Banshee kit!! Jim
  6. If I follow what I did with my F-105D, I'll paint the gear legs dull silver as Finn suggests plus use the Interior Green for the wheel wells with flat red on the interior gear doors. Now all we need is to have Kitty Hawk release the 101B and RF-101C and we'll be in great shape! Have a good week all! Jim
  7. I think so too. I'll go that route too if/when KH releases their RF-101. Take good care! Jim
  8. Hi Bobo! Thanks for the quick reply! I think you've got the colors nailed. If you look at the walk around of the RF-101at the Pima museum (Cybermodeler) it looks like the wheel wells might be 36322 grey or an off white. Otherwise, the doors are red on the insides! Take care, buddy! Jim
  9. Would this scheme have also applied to 'Nam camo RF-101C' s? Anticipating a someday KH recce Voodoo. Jim
  10. Hi Ray! Thank you very much! Great picture too! All the great info will be much appreciated once the kit gets here. Thanks again! Jim
  11. Lots of great info guys! One question: would the instrument panel, shroud and the windshield framework be flat black? Then, all else inside 36231? Thanks again! Jim
  12. Correct you are, Don! The sets are rather pricey though so I'll probably go with the kit seat and add some belts from my leftovers. Thanks again though! Jim
  13. Hi Jay, Thanks for the suggestion! I've used masking tape a long time ago but never thought about Tamiya tape. I also have metal buckles from Waldron I can use. Jim
  14. Thanks for the help, guys! My plan is to purchase the Caracal RF-84F decals and either do a USAFE natural metal scheme or an ANG camo bird. I may just get a couple of the correct seats so I can go either way. Jim
  15. Got the Tanmodel kit for Christmas and see that there are no seatbelts provided. My question is would the Quickboost F-84G resin seat be vertually identical to that in the RF-84? It has cast seatbelt detail. Thanks! Jim
