  1. Hey everyone, I've been away on training for the last few weeks and I brought along my Hornet to work on in the evenings. Now I have time to update this WIP. I have the fuselage together and puttied: The decal instructions called for the tail brackets to be deleted for Skitzo's jet so I filled in the gaps with the bits from the sprue that has the numbers on it: I then sanded them down flush with the fuselage: My airbrush nozzel is broken so I can't do fine lines hence the not so nice pre-shading. Also, my base coat of light grey looked too dark: Installed the IFF antannaie on t
  2. Email sent on: Academy F/A-18C; Hasegawa F-4B/N/J Jolly Rogers; and Microscale A-6 Decals. -Denis
  3. Great photos. It is awesome to see Enterprise in the air again! -Denis
  4. Brewer, If you can wait a month I can take it off your hands after I get back from Italy. I won't have the $$$ until then. -Denis
  5. Thanks for the info Warthoglvr. Another quick question. I was planning on scratch building the IFF, Blade and GPS Antennas. But if that does not work out is there any AM that gives just that or will I have to get the full nose replacement from either MAW-Decals or Wolfpack Designs? MAW Wolfpack -Denis
  6. Thanks for the tip Curt. Does anyone know if this bird can end up a tail sitter? The instructions do not specify to add weight to the nose and I can add some to the unused rear cockpit if it is needed. -Denis
  7. Well with the F-14B picking up speed I started looking at my next project and see that it qualifies for the GB. I will be building a Hasegawa F/A-18C from VMFA-122 Werewolves during thier deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2008. I will be building plane number 13, BuNo 164278. This jet was flown by Capt. J "Skitzo" Penney. Skitzo is a now a Major in the Royal Canadian Air Force who was on exchange with VMFA-122 during this time frame. Skitzo is now in 425 squadron and will be leaving this summer and I want to surprise him with this as a parting gift. The kit and decals from Flying Leat
  8. Finally some progress. I cut the elevators off the fuselage and using two different diameters of brass tube made it so that I can insert the elevators later and position them how I want them. After that I was able to get the fuselage put together. Along with this work I have been dealing with some nasty ejection pin marks... More to follow soon I hope. Happy Modelling! -Denis
  9. Well with my F-14 about to hit the paintshop I pulled out my next project and realized that it qualifies for the GB. I intend to build a Hasegawa F-18C as one from VMFA-122 Werewolves from their 2008 Deployment for OIF. I will be doing airframe number 13 BuNo 164278, which has the markings for Capt. J. "Skitzo" Penney. Skitzo is a Canadian pilot who was on exchange with VMFA-122 when they deployed. He is now a Major here at 425 Sqn and will be moving this summer so I wanted to get this done as a surprise for him. Here are some shots of the kit and decals. Happy modelling! -Denis
  10. Ya, this jet looks really nice close up. I'll try to find the pic but there is a painted zap from former 433 Squadron techs referencing the eventual return of the unit, located on the inside of one of the intakes. Stb side I think.
  11. Man that sucks! A few years ago there was a real problem with counterfeit debit machines in Quebec City. At that time a report came out showing how to ID a bad machine, basically the counterfeit ones had two magnetic readers instead of the standard one reader in the slot that you would swipe your card. However, that was before the card chip came out and it may be harder to spot now. These days I usually check to see if the debit machine at the cash is locked down either with a steel cable or some sort of case. I agree though that you shold be able to get the store`s name. That way if it is a p
  12. I saw 2 bottles of Mr. Surfacer 1000 at Leading Edge Hobbies in Kingston last week. Unfortunately I am not there anymore. There was also some at the LHS in Quebec City. However, I have had a hard time finding Mr. Surfacer 500.
  13. So it was my birthday on the 3rd and I got a few kits to add to my stash. My Dad gave me the Revell B-25 and since I also recieved some cash as a gift he took me to a hobby store in Montreal called Udisco. Awesome place full of great models. There I picked up the RoG F/A-18F Super Hornet and next to that was a stack of RoG Super Carriers so Dad grabbed the Carl Vinson and gave that to me as well. I am super excited to get into these, only delema is choosing which one to start with. The Super Hornet looks really well done and I might start there. If I like the kit I think that will be my go t
  14. Hey, Someone other than family noticed it was my birthday. Thanks Grey Ghost!!!
  15. Nice work Shawn. There is a nice looking exapmle of that airframe on display in front of the Bagotville Museum. I can't recall the number but can post a pic later. -Denis
  16. Ohhhhh! I never knew about this conversion set. It just Went to the top oft want list for my VF-84 Jolly Roger Crusader.
  17. Can anyone give me some loadout information on VMFA-122 Werewolves during thier 2008 deployment to Iraq for OIF? I will be starting a 1/48 Hasegawa F/A-18C in low-vis markings using the Flying Leathernecks sheet. I know a canadian exchange pilot that was deployed with that squadron in '08 and his name is on the sheet so I will build his jet as a surprise for him. Cheers, -Denis
  18. Great job. I really like the weathering. -Denis
  19. "Leading Edge Decals 48-69: CF-18A "100 Years of Flight" ***I think that was a CF-18B was it not?***" Nope. That was a CF-18A, tail 719. -Denis
  20. D'oh! You started a new thread...LOL Like I said in the other one. I'm partial to the 425 scheme but that might have something to do with my current posting location. -Denis
