  1. Awesome. Thanks for the reply Graeme. At the moment I am most interested in getting some AM stuff for my Tomcats (all scales) so Tiger Hobby sounds like the place to hit. After that I want to get a few more colours of Vallejo Model Air so I hope I can hit all three stores you mentioned. Now, if I see a kit or two on sale I may be tempted to buy. Cheers, Denis
  2. Hi All, I'll be in Winnipeg on business for a few days in March and since there is no hobby store where I live now I try to check out other hobby stores when I travel. According to FSM's shop finder Winnipeg has the below Hobby Shops. Does anyone know which ones are better or worse? Are there others? CELLAR DWELLER HOBBY LTD SPARETIME HOBBIES INC ELMWOOD HOBBY WORKS WARE HOUSE HOBBIES GOOCH'S HOBBIES Thanks, Denis
  3. Maybe paint the tiger stripes and use Microscale's Liquid Decal Film to save the rest of the sheet? My 2 cents... Anyway great build log so far. I want to do a CF-18 in the near future so I like this comparison build. Denis
  4. Magnificent....only, how come the pics here are in black and white? The colour ones on your blogsite are much better. Keep up the great work. Denis

  6. Pompeo, After reading your review and seeing that Hobbyeasy has this kit at a price I could actually see myself spending, I really look forward to watching this WIP. Off to a great start. I like how detailed the cockpit parts are. Denis
  7. Ohhhh! Love the subject, early VF-84 F-14! Will this be a late '70s/first Nimitz cruise bird? My favorite time for the Jolly Rogers. I'll be watching with interest. Denis
  8. Unfotunately mine is the original Revell boxing released in 1983 based on the M-D demonstrator so it only has the feathered exhausts. Here's a pic of the box. Denis
  9. Well unfortunately my daughter has a fever today and cannot go to daycare. However, the Military Channel is playing a morning loaded with great shows. Carrier: Arsenal at Sea, Carrier - Fortress at Sea, Anatomy of a Carrier, Anatomy of the F/A-18, Anatomy of the Abrams, and Anatomy of the Stryker. Let the indoctrination begin, LOL. Denis
  10. McCoy, Thanks for posting the progress pics with the additional info on the tracks. I found it very informative and helpful. I can't wait to try some of these techniques on my own. Denis
  11. This would be the perfect kit for me: Favorite Sqn, AM pit and I still need a 1/48 Has Tomcat. However, I cannot afford it at the moment. Do you need to get rid of it now or can you hold onto it for a while? Denis
  12. Yes please, that would be great. I am still trying to perfect the way my tracks look and would be very much interested to see how you did yours. Denis
  13. Looks like an interesting build. I will be more drawn to the Revell kit as I have the earlier 1/32 Revell F-15E (1983) which I got cheap at a flea market. I am not a big Eagle fan so I plan to make it a practice build to warm up for my 1/32 Tomcats. As such I am not too worried about accuracy, except that the exhaust will have to be replaced since they are not the featherless ones. A very obvious feature for the Strike Eagle. I have AM decals for it but still looking for the exhaust. Maybe you have some spare laying around? Anyway, I look forward to your updates. Denis
  14. Where were these guys while I was posted to Gagetown? Seriously, nice to see F'ton have a good hobby shop. I may even order from there since they are a domestic source, plus I would be encouraging thier business. Who knows I might be posted back there one day. Riderfan, glad to hear that you are getting your things unpacked. Being in the military I can sympathize with having to pack and move model stuff. Good luck with your builds. Denis
  15. Yes the museum here is nice. Both the Canuck and the Voodoo on display outside have different markings on either side to represent two squadrons. There is also a Pre-CF-18AM with mock weapons load and if the weather is nice people can sit in it. On the inside there is a nice example of an Orenda engine for the Canuck and Canadair Sabre fans. IIRC, the Mig was flown over from Poland after the iron curtain came down as a gift to Canada for supporting thier military during the Second World War. Denis
  16. McCoy if this is what you can do without an AB then I can't wait to see where you will go with one. I really like the tracks. Can you share your painting and weathing process? I am wraping up my Tiger I and feel that my tracks are too shiney and would like to dull them up a bit. Denis
  17. Looks nice especially for no AB!! I have the Italian M40 75/18 SP Gun Tank by Zvesda in my stash. It was given to me by a fellow modeller in my club at my previous city so I could practice and improve my skills. I will probably get to it soon to work on my weathering techniques, conceltrating on rust. Denis
  18. Really nice work McCoy. I have only done two modern armour projects so far and am wraping up my first WWII Tank, a Tiger I, and can only hope to have such nice results. Denis
  19. Nice looking Clunks, Phantom. Really brought back memories of the Canuck models I built in my younger days. I wish I still had them so I could try building one now that I have add more to my skillset. Denis
  20. Nice to see the "Clunk" get some love. Really brings back memories of growing up in Trenton and building the CF-100. Wish I had one or two still unbuilt now that I have better skills at modelling. I like that you are doing rocketpods on the wingtips. I have a photo I rescued from RMC's History department of a Clunk firing wingtip rocketpods and thought it looked really cool. I wish more companies would offer the Canuck. Is this boxing a newly tooled version of the plane or is it a reboxing of the old Hobbycraft we all love? Denis
  21. I have been contemplating getting the HB kit and after seeing this post plus the discovery of Hobbyeasy.com I think I will be getting one soon. I have a few 1/72 Hasegawa kits but none in 1/48 though so I cannot add to that discussion. Another item to acquire in the near future. My only hurdle is the deal I have with SWMBO that I cannot buy any more kits until I build a few more from the stash. Good opportunity to put some cash aside. Time to get building! Denis
  22. I'll be watching this. I have the same kit which I plan to build OOB with some old school VF-84 decals for the GB. Happy Modelling! Denis
  23. Thanks a lot for the reply Paolo! Already browsing the website and see a few interesting kits. Cheers, Denis
  24. Hi All, I will be deploying to Keflavik Iceland for 5 week this spring and was wondering if there are hobby shops nearby. I see this as a great opportunity to get a project done but would like to buy the glue and paints locally to avoid any issues with luggage. Cheers, Denis
